9 Speaker Enclosures
Your RadioShack 6 ×9 Speaker Enclosures are designed to
hold most 6 ×9-inch, full-range, 2- and 3-way speakers. The
enclosures are made of the highest quality materials to ensure
maximum response and sound quality in vehicle installations
and other areas with limited space.
Note: You need wood screws (not supplied) to install the
speakers in the enclosures. Check the number of mounting
holes on the speakers’ frames to determine how many screws
you need. The screw size depends on the type of speaker you
install and the type of grille (if any).
MOUNTING THE ENCLOSURES
If you use the enclosures in a vehicle, mount the enclosures in
the vehicle before you install the speakers. Use the supplied
mounting hardware to mount the enclosures as follows:
1. Drill a 1/4-inch hole at the enclosure’s center point.
2. On the mounting surface, use a 1/4-inch drill bit to drill a
hole at the center point of the desired mounting location.
3. Place a washer over a 1/4-inch bolt.
4. Place the enclosure on the mounting surface, aligning the
enclosure’s hole with the hole in the mounting surface.
Then, from the inside of the enclosure, insert the bolt
through the holes.
5. From the underside of the mounting surface, place a
washer and nylon locking nut over the bolt. Then, tighten
the nut.
6. Repeat Steps 1–5 to mount the other enclosure.
INSTALLING THE SPEAKERS
Follow these steps to install speakers in the enclosures.
1. Connect the speaker’s wires to the enclosure’s inside ter-
minals by soldering the wires or by using clip-on terminals.
Be sure to connect the wire from the speaker’s positive (+)
terminal to the enclosure’s positive terminal and the wire
from the speaker’s negative (–) terminal to the enclosure’s
negative terminal.
Hint: You can improve the speaker’s sound by placing a
small amount of loosely packed acoustic insulation inside
the enclosure before you go to the Step 2.
2. Insert the speaker, magnet first, into the enclosure’s oval
hole. Then, align the speaker as needed.
3. Using the speaker’s frame as a template, mark the
speaker’s mounting holes on the enclosure’s face. Then
use wood screws (not supplied) to secure the speaker to
the enclosure.
4. If the speaker includes a grille, attach the grille according to
its instructions.
5. Connect your sound system’s speaker wires to the spring
terminals on the back of the enclosure. Be sure you con-
nect system’s wires (usually marked + for positive and – for
negative) to the corresponding positive and negative termi-
nals on the enclosure.
6. Repeat Steps 1–5 to install the other speaker.
