1. Intente use an properties
The four channel fiber-optic pulse receiver RLWE 4161 is appropriate for a nonreactive fan
out of four optical pulse signals into eight synchronous TTL an NIM output signals.
This evice is esigne for operation with optical signal sources transmitting at nominal
850 nm wave length. At rear si e of this pro uct input signals can be couple into the evice
via FSMA fiber cable receptacles. There are four 50 Ω output signal omains. CH1 an CH3
with four TTL signal outputs each an two further output omains (CH2 an CH4) for four NIM
output signals which can be use in parallel. Optical channels 1 an 2 an channels 3 an 4
resp. can be connecte to the electrical output channels CH1 an CH2 ans CH3 an CH4
resp. optionally straight forwar or crosse -over. TTL channels as well as NIM channels
provi e three non-inverting outputs an one inverting output.
This evice is supplie by an internal power supply which is operate by means of mains
voltages in the range of 100 VAC bis 240 VAC.
The 4-channel pulse ivi er RLWE 4161 is for in oor use only!

Start-up
•Power supply
•Power on → in ication
After connecting mains cable into RLWE 4161 the evice is switche on by power
switch (14) on rear si e. Refer also Figure 3. During operation of RLWE 4161 the
yellow in icator (13) is glowing.
Usage of signal channels CH1 to CH4
•There is a usage of all optical an electrical pulse signal channels at the same time in
parallel possible.
•On front panel there are channel CH1 an channel CH3 each with three non-inverting
(5) an one inverting (10, marke by “INV”) TTL signal outputs available.
•At channel CH2 an channel CH4 there are three non-inverting (8) an one inverting
(12, marke by „INV“) available to use in parallel.
•Optical signal inputs eposite on rear si e of RLWE 4161 can be use in parallel.
They can be connecte pairwise to TTL an NIM outputs resp. By means of toggle
switch (11) in position “||” it is possible to map optical inputs 1 an 2 to electrical
outputs CH1 an CH2. In position “X” of switch (11) the optical signal 1 is mappe to
output channel CH2 an the optical signal 2 is mappe to output channel 1 at the
same time (crosse -over mo e). The i entical scope of functions offer optical
channels 3 an 4 in conjunction with electrical output channels CH3 an CH4. This
way optical signal pairs 1, 2 an 3, 4 resp. can be converte optionally into TTL or NIM
signals. Activate mapping mo es are in icate by re LEDs above (6) an (7) resp.
on front panel.
•As soon as a signal is available on a channel output the yellow signal LEDs (9) an
(12) resp. are glowing. In case there is no signal available these LEDs remain
eactivate .
Usage options at signal inputs of a channel
•Via three BNC receptacles (5) on channels CH1 an CH3 resp. there are 50 Ω outputs
for TTL signals available. The same TTL signal in inverte form is provi e at each
right-han output which is marke by “INV”.
•An analogue configuration is vali for NIM output channels CH2 an CH3. This means
also at output section (8) are three non-inverting an one inverting 50 Ω outputs for
NIM signals available. NIM stan s for Nuclear Instrumentation Mo ule Stan ar
an is implemente in this pro uct accor ing to the fast negative logic stan ar
version of DOE/ER-045T.
Mounting instructions for assembling into a 19“ rack
•Four elongate holes are available on right an left en of front panel of RLWE 4161
for fastening this unit in a 19” rack. Use IEC 60297 for further instructions.

6. Disposal
In the interest of our environment an for a complete recycling of material use for this pro uct the
user is requeste to submit use or amage evices to qualifie collecting points.
The sign of a crosse -out waste bin with wheels in icates that this pro uct has to be submitte to a
collecting point for electrical scrap. This way the material of this pro uct can by recycle professionally
an can be use best in a close material cycle.
