series products.

Overview
RC852-30-FV35 series optical modular multiplexers are fiber optical modem to transmit single v.35
signal over fiber. In the remote Customer Premier Equipment’s side, this module could be installed
into Raisecom single slot chassis. It also could work in pair with RC852-30 or RC852-30-BL (E1 to
fiber modem), to adapt more application that customer require. It can be inserted into Raisecom’s
19 inch rack mounting 16-slot or 4-slot chassis which can also accommodate other Raisecom
series products to enable uniform SNMP network management in Central Office. This module is
compact in size and highly integrated with versatile capabilities.
Function feature
¾Service interface: one V.35 DCE interface completed with ITU recommendation
¾Line interface: one fiber optical interface of dual-strand fiber or single-strand bi-direction

¾Complies with G.704 frame definition, realize bandwidth control on V.35 interface

When the customer’s application is RC852-30(-BL) and RC852-30-FV35 (or RC851-30-FV35) work in pair, if
RC852-30-FV35 (or RC851-30-FV35) be in N*64kbps (N<=31) fractional mode, the RC852-30(-BL) should be also in
fractional E1 mode for connective success.

Accessory Cables
When connect this series product with DTE equipments such as routers through HDB26 interface, please use
CBL-V35-HDB26M/M34F cable provided by Raisecom (standard accessory) to work with DTE/routers cable.
When the CBL-V35-HDB26M/M34F cable is not long enough, please order it from Raisecom.
When connect this series product with other venders DTE equipments, the cross cable
CBL-V35-HDB26M/M34M-X is necessary, and please order it from Raisecom (non standard accessory). The
default length of this cable is 2 meters.

PWR (Green):
Green, means device power supply works normal;
PAT(Yellow):
Yellow, means no error on bit error pattern test mode. If the fiber optic interface receives its own
sending test pattern 2E15-1, the indicator will be in steady yellow. When it gets an error code the
indicator will turns off for at least 1 second.
zFiber optical interface Alarm indicator:
LOS (Red):
Red on: Loss of signal (LOS) alarm of local fiber receiving;
Red blink: Loss of signal (LOS) alarm of remote fiber receiving;
Off: got input signal both on local and remote receive directions.
LOF (Red):
Red on: Loss of frame (LOF) alarm of local fiber receiving;
Red blink: Loss of frame (LOF) alarm of remote fiber receiving;
Off: got input frame both on local and remote receive directions.
ERR (Red):

zFiber optical interface:
Single fiber optical port supports dual-strand fiber (S1 / S2 / S3) or single-strand fiber (SS13 / SS15 /
SS23 / SS25).
For dual-strand fiber interface, TX means output (transmit), RX means input (receive);
For single-strand fiber interface, TX and RX symbols means nothing, there are two separate
wavelengths in the single-strand fiber to carry out bi-direction transmitting.
zV.35 interface:
This left figure is HDB26 connector, and it can connect to ISO2593 connector by
cable provided by Raisecom.
This left figure is ISO2593 connector of standard V.35 interface.
The connector used for this series device is DCE Connector Face – 34
Pin Female which can be connected to standard DTE cable.

DIP Switches
There are 6 group 8-bits dip-switches on the top layer of the printed-circuit board,
named SW1, SW2, SW3, SW4, SW5 and SW6. Each DIP-switch is shown as the
left figure. From left to right is the 1st bit to 8th bit. UP indicates ON, and DOWN
indicates OFF. Please configure these DIP-switches before installing the device to
chassis.

Notice:
When the SW1-1 is OFF (unframed mode) the TS1 to TS31 is invalid.
When the SW1-1 is ON( Fractional mode) the TS1 to TS31 is valid and can not be all OFF. That is to
say there must be some timeslot is enabled.

2. The 3rd bit: Timeslot auto follow function TS_FLOW (default OFF)

To make local timeslot follow remote timeslot, below four conditions should be ensured:
(1) RC85x series device is used point to point in pair.
(2) There is no any equipment could stop Sa4 bits transmission in Timeslot 0.
(3) Enable this function only in slave clock timing mode.
When all of above condition is satisfied, set the SW5-3 of local device as ON to open timeslot
auto-follow function, the timeslot and frame mode (PCM30/PCM31) of local device will follow the
configurations of remote device automatically.
3. The 4th bit: Build-in Bit Error Tester function BERT (default OFF)

There is an Bit Error Tester Unit inside this series device, and the main purpose of this unit is that
produces testing pattern 2E15-1 std and sends them to optical line. This pattern can be uploaded
to proper data channel through configuration, then via many loop back mode the returned
sequence is sent to device for testing. The testing result will be displayed by the PAT indicator on
front panel. When bit error is captured the PAT indicator turns to off and keep for at least one
second. If there is no new error occur the PAT indicator will come back to steady yellow status.
The device will add test pattern to user data channel after the test function is running. This
function is available in fractional E1 mode and unframed (transparent) E1 mode, at that time all
the V.35 data will be interrupted.
Notice: The bit error test function can be operated with many loop back test. When the local
ALOOP loopback function is disable the loop back can be realized by external fiber patch cord,
but the dual-fiber S3 and all single fiber are forbidden. At the time when PAT indicator is steady
yellow it indicates that correct bits was received. If the RLOOP remote loop back is enabled
accompanied with bit error test, it means the whole information process will be tested.
4. The 5th bit: RX CLK Phase (default OFF)

The RX CLK phase choosing is provided according to the different V.35 clock and data phase of
different brand router. On Cisco series router the test result of V.35 synchronization WAN
interface is passing when this device is connected and its RX CLK is Positive.

Notice: The relationship of TX CLK and TD phase of this series device is auto-adjusted, so users
need not to configure it.
5. The 6th ~ 8th bit: Loopback configuration (default OFF)

All loopback switches are used for bit error testing, customer could choose the loopback type.
The 6th bit: ALOOP (analog loopback) Local fiber optical interface inner loopback
ALOOP is used for test the V.35 cable, RX CLK phase and the modem performance in local site.
The 7th bit: DLOOP (Digital loopback) Local V.35 interface inner loopback
DLOOP is used for test the fiber line link, the E1 cable and modem performance in remote site.

When fault pass enable, if the device has local alarm (errors on fiber Rx interface) the DCD signal of
V.35 interface will close and DTE device should have some denotation.
When fault pass enable, if the device has remote alarm (errors on fiber Tx interface) the CTS signal of
V.35 interface will close and DTE device should have some denotation.
After power on the DSR signal of this series device will be forever valid.
2. The 8th bit: Remote management control RMT_MNG (default OFF)
This bit is setup for forced monitor and management by the remote optical multiplexer
When optical multiplexers are working in pairs, if the module is plugged into RC001-1 single slot
chassis deployed at customer premise, the module will be automatically set up to be managed
by the host-site multiplexer; if it is plugged into RC002-16 16-slot chassis, to be managed by the
remote multiplexer, the module need to be manually set up to that working mode.
Relationship between DIP-switch and software configuration
The corresponding relationship of above device DIP-switch and network management ability is shown
as below table:

The connection topologies introduced in this part is only for user reference. Users are advised to
design and deploy the most appropriate topology according to their specific environment.
zPoint-to-point, ‘Master Clock – Slave Clock’ Topology
When connecting Routers or other V.35 interface equipment point to point, routers should work in
DTE mode. For the convenience of installation and test, it is advised to set the local modem
‘Master Clock Mode’, and remote modem ‘Slave Clock Mode’. That is, the timing resource is
from the local modem.
In “Master Clock-Slave Clock” topology, if DXC, MUX devices are in E1 link, the DXC, MUX and
remote modem should all be slave clock mode (follow the clock of E1 link)
zPoint-to-point, ‘Terminal Clock – Slave Clock’ Topology
When the remote DTE must follow the timing resource of local V.35 clock, that is to say the TX
CLOCK of local TX is inner clock source. In this condition, it is advised to set the local modem
‘Terminal Clock Mode’, and remote modem ‘Slave Clock Mode’.

In (Terminal Clock-Slave Clock) topology, if DXC, MUX devices are in E1 link, the DXC, MUX and
remote modem should all be slave clock mode (follow the clock of E1 link).
zExtended Connection Type
If E1 interface equipment is in user premise, RC852-30 can be in remote site and
RC852-30-FV35 in local site as the above figure. Please be attention to the clock mode, if the E1
interface of ATM is in master clock mode, then local RC852-30-FV35 should be in slave clock
mode.

Chapter 4 Installation and Test

Inspecting the Product
Before installation, please first check the models and quantities of optical multiplexers and accessories with
the packing list. Also, please check whether the equipment is in perfect condition. Occasionally, drying
process may be needed if the equipment is affected with damp environment.
Preparation before Installation
The following steps are required before installing the optical multiplexers:
It is strictly forbidden to hot-swap the V.35 interface cable
Please read the user manual carefully.
Prepare all the wires and cables that are needed. Make sure there is no reverse connection,
disconnection or short circuit connection. Refer to Appendix A for details of cable making.
Make sure that the voltage of the power supply is within the tolerance range and the chassis is
grounded with the earth.
If you do not use network management, please configure the device through DIP-switch be installation.
Prepare the Bit Error Rate Tester and optical power test-meter for the test of link quality.
Fix the optical multiplexer into RC002-16 (19-inch 3U chassis). Pay attention to the ambience
requirement.
Installation
Check if there is any alarm on local equipment
Test if data communication can be performed between local DTE and remote equipment
If the test is failed, please try the following steps.
1. Local bi-direction loop-back test. Refer to previous dip-switch setup for details. If the Router
indicates loop-back successful, the V.35 interface is working in good condition. If the Router indicates
loop-back fails, please first check the timing resource and bandwidth setup at local site, and try to
adjust the TX CLK and RX CLK phase option switch.
2. If the E1 interface of remote equipment is connected with the ATM E1 interface, please make sure
that there is only on clock source in the network and the time slot configuration of both equipments is
the same
