Utilizing the highly effective hemispherical combustion chamber — a design that burns
fuel efficiently while boosting the output — today’s 5.7-liter HEMI V8 powering Ram
pickups features a wealth of technological advantages. Leading the way is the
intelligent Fuel Saver Technology, which articulates some of the finest technology
for both fuel efficiency and power. Fuel Saver seamlessly shuts off four of the eight
cylinders while under a select range of driving conditions. The transformation from a
mighty V8 into a fuel-sipping 4-cylinder has decidedly positive effects on efficient

Along with Fuel Saver is Variable Valve Timing — VVT, where its application in the HEMI
V8 results in better performance and more efficient overall operation. Because VVT
focuses on engine breathing throughout the rpm range, torque is affected, giving you
increased torque for towing and hauling.
One notable HEMI V8 asset for Ram 1500 is its
Short Runner Valve (SRV) Active Intake Manifold,
which controls air intake flow more efficiently by
changing port length based on engine rpm. SRV
technology contributes to both horsepower and
torque improvements, and is part of why this

specific to 3.7-liter 2WD Ram 1500 models, with

NVG243 TRANSFER CASE. A part-time, two-speed transfer
case, with three operating ranges plus Neutral.

on-demand, and features four operating ranges, plus
Neutral. Electronically operated, with instrument

MASTER THE TOWING. It’s built for the independent lifestyle — but your Ram 1500 is
eager to get hitched up, offering a very impressive towing capacity of 10,450 lb when
properly equipped. And while providing more than five tons of pulling power is a
formidable number, the total package here means you’re backed with a raft of systems
to help master towing. For example: The Electronic Stability Control (ESC)[8] System
which includes All-Speed Traction Control, Brake Assist, Electronic Roll Mitigation,
Hill Start Assist and Trailer Sway Control; all help keep truck and trailer on target.
Ram’s automatic transmissions are equipped with Electronic Range Select, providing
further manual control and those transmissions include a Tow/Haul Mode to optimize
shift points and gear selection; it’s tailored to handle heavier loads. And if you’re
hauling with the available 4.7-liter V8 or 5.7-liter HEMI® V8, count on a heavy-duty
cooling system to help on steep grades.
All 1500 models feature 4- and 7-pin trailer harness connectors as standard
equipment. Available towing features include a Class IV hitch receiver, tow hooks,
7x11-inch trailer tow mirrors and the fully integrated electronic trailer brake
controller, allowing the driver to increase or decrease the amount of force applied to
the trailer’s brakes depending on load requirement. Further features are just as cool
as that standard heavy-duty cooling system on all V8 power plants — like the available
Electronic Vehicle Information Center to help drivers monitor all the essential system
temperatures and the various pressures of the engine, transmission and cooling system;
it even has a display for the trailer brake controller. And finally, the available
ParkView® Rear Back-Up Camera[12] sure makes backing up to a trailer to hook it up far
less of a chore.

You know what to bring and Ram 1500 was built to pack it. This pickup is more than
a bed and cab; it’s your road office and home on the road, ingeniously carrying all
of your gear securely, keeping it organized, clean, and safe.
Take the class-exclusive[1] RamBox® Cargo Management System, available on Ram
1500 Crew Cab models. This two-part system is comprised of two dry, lockable and
lighted storage bins on both exterior sides of the bed. Each is large enough for
big tools, golf clubs, or can function as a clever built-in and drainable ice chest
holding up to 120 twelve-ounce cans. Add an available Accessory by Mopar® — the
RamBox Holster — to carry fishing rods, long guns, or both in the side boxes.
The other half to the RamBox Cargo Management System is a bed extender/divider.
Stored securely at the front of the bed, it unfolds to customize the cargo area and
extend usable cargo bed length. Reverse it to divide the bed for specific cargo-
carrying needs. Also included is a cargo rail system with four adjustable cleats.
Additional storage features on Crew Cab models include the in-floor bins and the
dual glove boxes for maps, gloves, and similar items. The Under-the-Rear-Seat
Storage is accessible simply by lifting the dual-function 60/40 split rear seat,

BRAKE PROGRESS THAT JUST DOESN’T STOP. It’s the most comprehensive and
advanced standard braking system ever on Ram, and it’s designed to do far more
than stop you in your tracks. 2011 Ram 1500 offers an available power/memory
adjustable brake pedal along with thestandard Electronic Stability Control (ESC).[8]
ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS). Standard on all Ram 1500 models, this
four-wheel ABS is an electronically operated multichannel system that
controls each brake individually — the electrical system is independent from
all other circuits. ABS is actually part of the Electronic Stability Control
(ESC)[8] system. ESC sensors are so sophisticated, they instantly detect
slippage and allowance in off-road conditions, such as dirt or gravel.
ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC).[8] Using information fromsensors, driver
input, and software, ESC helps the driver maintain vehicle directiona l
stability under many different driving conditions.
The wide-ranging ESC system is comprised of the following five systems:
TRAILER SWAY CONTROL (TSC). TSC can recognize a swaying trailer and
automatically apply any individual wheel’s brakes and/or reduce the engine
power in an attempt to eliminate the trailer sway. TSC applies brake pressure
on all four wheels to slow the vehicle, while increasing pressure on one
front wheel to counteract the sway.
ALL-SPEED TRACTION CONTROL. Wheel slippage in wet or icy conditions
is reduced to a minimum through automatic adjustments to both engine
and brakes.
HILL START ASSIST (HSA). Hill Start Assist is especially valuable when
off-road or when towing on inclines. HSA maintains brake pressure until
enough engine torque is produced forforward motion.
ELECTRONIC ROLL MITIGATION (ERM). Sophistication at every turn: if the ERM
system detects a potential rollover (for example, a corner taken too sharply,
or a swerve to avoid a problem), it automatically applies the correct brakes
while simultaneously fine-tuning the throttle.
BRAKE ASSIST. This adjunct to the antilock braking system can sense the
speed or force used to press the brakepedal. It’s so refined, it can determine
that anemergency stop is underway then instantly apply full braking
pressure to help shorten stopping distances.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR. Should the air pressure in any tire besignificantly
reduced, audible andvisible warnings from the Tire Pressure Monitoring
System go to work. Standard on allmodels. In vehicles equipped with EVIC,
the actual tire pressure is displayed.

The distinctive Outdoorsman exterior features a two-tone color scheme with lower Mineral
Gray Metallic body, accented wheel flares and bumpers and a body-color grille with a
Black honeycomb insert, complemented by invaluable fog lamps and quad headlamps.
Special Outdoorsman badging completes the rugged look. For 4x4 models, skid plates for the
transfer case and front suspension help offer indispensable protection for off-road driving.
Further capability comes from tough tow hooks built into the front bumper, along with a
3.92 rear axle ratio with limited slip/antispin differential that teams up with a Class IV
trailer hitch, an ideal combination for towing boats, campers and ATVs. The range of your
activities is dramatically extended with Outdoorsman’s extra-large 32-gallon fuel tank
(not available on Regular Cab short box models, where a 26-gallon tank is standard).

and Crew Cab models, 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. New 2011 Ram Outdoorsman 1500 is based on the SLT trim level, with the following additions/changes:
