Important Stand and Base Safety Information
Choose the location for your TV carefully Place the TV
on a stand or base that is of adequate size and strength
to prevent the TV from being accidentally tipped over,
pushed off, or pulled off. This could cause personal
injury and/or damage the T_Z
DVD Player + TV with RF modulator
Use tile RF inodulator (included with AC power supply) to connect your DVD player. (The
exainple shows jacks on one side of tile RF modulator for reference. Tile modulator actually
has jacks on both sides.)
1. Connect the audio cables to the AUDIO OUT jacks on the back of your DVD
player and to tile corresponding Audio Input jacks on tile RF inodulator.
2. Connect the video cable (yellow) to tile VIDEO OUT jack on the back of your
DVD player to the Video Input jack on the RF inodulator.
3. Connect the RF modulator to the back of the TV.
4. Connect the cable froin your cable system or of}Lairantenna to the ANT-IN jack
on tile RF inodulator.
Select channel 3 or 4 on tile RF
modulator. \Vhen vou turn tile TV on, tile
RF modulator will autonlatically detect
your cable input for the TV. Channel 3 or
4 (which ever you choose) will play your
movie,

Plug in the TV
Plug the end of the power cord into the wall outlet. Match the ,+videblade of the plug
with the ,+videslot in the outlet. Insert the plug completely into tile outlet. Your TV also
comes with a car adapter. Use the adapter, (pictured to the right) to plug )vur TV into
the cigarette lighter in your vehicle.

Put Batteries in the Remote
1. Remove tile battelT compartment cover on tile remote.
2. Insert new batteries. Match the polarities (+ and -) on the batteries with the diagram on tile
relnote.
3. Put tile battery compartment cover back on tile remote.
Turn on the TV
Press the ON.OFF button on the remote or POWER on tile fl'ont panel.
Auto Channel Search
Perform tile A_to CT_a_J_¢e/Sea*'ct).The TV ,+viiisearch for all channels viewable through >'ourantenna or
cable TV system. This option tells tile TV to search automatically f'orall the channels available through
the antenna input. When tile TV f_nds an active channel, it places it in the channel list. Inactive
channels (weak stations or channels with no signal at all) will be removed from the channel list. You may
interrupt this process by pressing the MENU button.
This process is also described in tile @a_mel menu section, page 9.

Dipole Antenna Connection
When connecting the antenna to }_mrTV, use the supplied antenna. Follow the steps below to connect the
antenna supplied with your TV (only if you do not connect an outdoor antenna or a cable-TV system).
1. Insert the antenna base into die pocketed slot on the back of your TV until it locks in place.
2. Connect the cable from the antenna adapter to the ANTENNA jack on the back of the TV.
When you mrn on the TV, adjust the length and position of the antenna rods for best reception.
• For viewingVHF channels, extend the rods filll>
• For viewing UHF channels, shorten the rods for best reception.
• Don't use this connection with any other connection.
You can press MENU or CLEAR to make the
Channel Marker disappear, or it will
disappear automatically after a short time.
Channel Marker
The Channel Marker comes up when you first turn on the TV, change channels, or press the INFO
button.
01:30 Displayed to count down time left on the commercial skip timer.
13 Displays the current channel.
7:17 Displays the current time.
CC Displayed when Closed Captioning is available.
Mute Displayed when you mute the audio.
Sleep Displayed when the Sleep Timer has been set.

Front Panel Controls
CHAN ^ (Channel up) Scans up through the channel list. When a menu is displayed, CHAN ^ points up to items and adjusts menu controls.
CHAN v (Channel down) Scans down through the channel list. When a menu is displayed, CHAN v points down to items and adjusts menu
controls.
MENU Brings up the Main menu. When in the menu system, it selects highlighted items. Also returns you to the previous menu.
POWER Turns the TV on and off_
VOL - (Volume down) Decreases the volume. When in the menu system, VOL - isused to point left to items and adjust menu controls.
VOL + (Volume up) Increases the volume. When in the menu system, VOL + is used to point right to items and adjust menu controls.
Caution: If you choose to use a stand with your
TV, take precautions that the stand or other
furniture the TV is placed on is properly
located and of adequate size and strength to
prevent the TV from accidentally being pushed
off, pulled off, or tipped over. This could cause
damage to the TV and/or personal injury
Front Panel Lock
This feature allows you to lock the buttons on the front of the TV. Even when the fl'ont
panel lock feature is ON, the TV operates with the remote control.
• To lock the buttons on the front of the TV, make sure the TV is turned ON,
then press and hold the ON*OFF button on the remote for appro×imately 5
seconds,
• To turn off'the fl'ont panel lock, make sure the TV is OFF, then press and hold
the ON'OFF button on the remote for approximately 5 seconds. Now the
buttons will operate properl>_

Remote Control Buttons
When operating the remote, point it directly at tile front of the TV. Objects between tile remote and tile
remote sensor can block the signal to the TV.
0-9 (Number) buttons Press to access any channel number. To select a channel, press two number buttons.
For example, press 0 then 6 for channel 6. To select a 3 digit numbel, press and hold number button 1 until
1 appears oil the screen. Then press tile other two numbers.
Arrow buttons (up, down, left, right) Use tile arrow buttons to move through tile on-screen menu system.
ON'OFF Turns theTV on or off
CC This button has no functionality with this product*.
CH +/- (Channel) buttons Press to select the next higher or lower channel in memory. Youcall add or erase
channels in met]rloryas desired.
CLEAR Press to clear the screen of all on-screen displays.
GO BACK Pressing this button switches tile TV back to the last tuned channel. This is useful if you want to
watch two channels. Select tile first channel you wish to watch. Then select tile other channel by pressing
two number buttons. The TV changes back and f'orth between the two channels each time ?_u press this
button.
INFO Brings up tile channel banner.
INPUT This button has no fimctionalitv with this product.

•Use the MENU button to bring up
the menu screen. Use the arrow
buttons to move the highlight up and
down.
• Press the OK button to choose the
highlighted item.
MENU Press to bring up the menu screen, then use the arrow buttons to highlight the desired menu choice.
MUTE Press to quickly reduce sound to minimum level. Closed captioning (C1) may appear on the screen
when }_u press MUTE. To restore sound and normal picture, press MUTE again or press VOL up.
OK When a menu is on the screen, press to select the item that is highlighted.
PRESETS Press to return all video settings (color, tint, contrast, brighmess, and sharpness) back to the
original settings. Also functions to reset the time and timers.
SKIP (Commercial Skip) Starts an on-screen countdown tiinel: While the timer is on the screen, you can
browse through other channels. Each press of the SKIP button adds 30 seconds to the tiinel: When the timer
reaches 0:00, the TV will automatically go back to the channel it was on when the timer was started.
SLEEP Sets the TV to automatically turn off in 30, 60, 90 or 120 ininutes. Use the right and left arrow
buttons to choose the amount of"time.
VOL +/- (Volume) buttons Increases or decreases voluine. The vohlme display appears on the screen when
you press the VOL buttons.

The TVMaiJ'_ M('t'_uis >_ur gateway to controlling tile TV. It lets >_madjust tile TV's picture quality,
screen, channel settings, parental controls, and time functions,
To select a menu item:
1. Press MENU to bring up the TVMai_ Me,Hi.
2. Use the arrow buttons on the remote control to highlight an item and press MENU to select it.
You can also press the corresponding number on the remote.
3. To exit any menu screen, highlight Evitand press MENU, or press CLEAR on the remote.

The Pict,_" Qlta/ity 1_'t'_ contains five controls that adjust the TV's picture. Use the arrow buttons to
adjust the controls.
Contrast Adjusts the difference between light and dark areas of the picture.
Color Adjusts the richness of the color.
Tint Adjusts the balance between the red and green levelsallowing you to get the correct
flesh tones.
Black Level Adjusts the brightness of the picture.
Sharpness Adjusts the crispness of edges in the picture.
Reset Picture Controls Resets the picture controls to their original settings.

Closed Caption Modes

The S('_'e_z menu contains the controls that let you adjust the closed-caption displa}; closed-caption
mode, _md mentl language.
CC (Closed-Caption) Display Lets you choose tile way closed caption information is shown on the
screen. Use the MENU button to toggle between the following:
Off No closed caption information displayed.
On Closed caption inf'ormation shown alw:_ys, when available.
On When Muted Displays closed caption information, when available, whenever )_u press the
MUTE button. The closed caption information is not displayed when the sound is not muted.
CC (Closed-Caption) Mode Lets you choose which closed caption mode is used for displaying closed
caption infbrmation. Use the MENU button to toggle between the choices: CCI and CC2.
Not all programs are encoded with closed caption information. When a program is closed captioned, the
letters CC are displayed trader the Chamiel Marker.
Menu Language Lets you select the language of your choice: English, French, or Spanish. Use the
MENU button to toggle between the choices.

The (,7)aflame/inenucontains all tile cominands used to control your channels, including custom-
building your channel list.
Signal Type Displays a choice that lets you select between CABLE TV and ANTENNA:
Antenna Choose this if you are currently using an off-air antenna f'orUHF/VHF TV signals.
Cable TV Choose this if you are currently using cable or a cable box forTV signals.
Auto Channel Search Selecting this option tells the TV to search automatically for all the channels
aw_ilablethrough the antenna input. When the TV finds an active channel, it places it in the channel
list. Inactive channels (weak stations or channels with no signal at all) will be removed froin the channel
list. (Youinay interrupt this process by pressing the MENU button.)
List Displays acontrol panel that lets >_mcustomize >_ur channel scan list by adding or removing
channels. Use the arrow buttons to move between fields and to enter settings. Press MENU to exit.
Channel Number Use the CH +/- or arrow buttons to scroll through the channel scan list.
You can also enter the channel number directly using the number buttons.
Scan List Indicates whether the channel number is included (YL_) or is not inchlded (NO)
in the channel scan list.

Setting V-ChipParentalControls
The V-Chip software inside your TV comes
turned "off," so if you choose to implement
it, you must turn it on.
V-Chip Parental Controls
The ¼CTdp Pa_'eJ_a/C_ntrohmenu allows you to program your TV so that children cannot see certain
programs. When you select ¼CT_ipPareJ_ta/Cbntroh, you will be prompted to enter your password if
controls are locked, or to remember to lock controls if unlocked.
The first three choices in the Parental Controls menu involve software inside your TV (dubbed V-Chip)
which allows you to block TV programs and movies based on violence, sex, or other content >vu believe
children should not view. Once )_tl block programs, you or other adults can unblock programs with a
password.
When turned "on," the software reads a code that most broadcasters send with programs. That code tells
the V-Chip the program's age-based rating and content themes. If you have blocked the rating or content
themes that the program contains, )_u will receive the message, "This program is blocked. Change
channel or press DISPLAY (INFO) to enter password," when you tune to that program.
Broadcasters are not required to provide content themes or age-based ratings. Rated programs received
with no content themes will only be blocked ifyou block their age-based rating. Youcan also block
movies with a rating of'"Not Rated" and "unrated" TV programs.

• To block all movies above a certain rating: In the Rad_(q field, use the arrow tip and down
buttons to highlight the lowest u*_aeveptablerating. Then highlight the Rad_4q&atztsfield and
press tile arrow up and down buttons to change the status from gTe*uto B/ocl_.All higher ratings
will automatically change to Bloc!<
• To lock your selection(s): Select Pa_v,,_mll(.bnt_vh fl'om the ¼C/Jip Pa*_,*_ta/(bnt*v/smenu. Press
the right arrow button to select LOCKED. Enter >_mrpassword (if you have not already set
your password, )_m will be prompted to enter it again to confima). The word UNLOCKEDwill
flash to remind you that the Parental Controls are not locked.
Viewing Movie Ratings
After you block movie ratings, >_tlhave the option of changing some of the ratings back to ½"eu_.
• To view movie ratings: Highlight the RadJvgfield and use the arrow up and down buttons to
find the rating you want to view. Then use right arrow button to highlight the Rad_4_Stat_s
field, and use arrow up and down buttons to change the status to Vie*<

Tile V-Chip TV Rating Limit lets you decide which TV programs can be viewed. To setTV programming limits:
1. Choose ¼Ct_ip [)are_tal (,>Jt'_lvvlsfrom the Main menu. If Parental Controls have previously been locked, you
must enter your password. If they are not locked, you will get a message rentinding you that your limits will
not be ef}'ectiveuntil you lock Parental Controls.
2. Press MENU to continue.
3. Highlight and select TVRati_g Lirrdt.
4. Once you get to the TVRadng Li**_itscreen, use the arrow buttons on your remote to change the stares ofa TV
program rating or content theme front Vl'ezz_to B[o('h,

Age-Based
Rating Description and Content Themes for Age-Based Ratings
TV-MA Mature Audience Only. Specifically desigued to beviewed by adults and nlav lie unsuitable for children under 17. It contains
one or inore of'the following content themes: crude indecent language (L), explicit sexual activity (S), or graphic violence
(v).
TV-14 Parents Strongly Cautioned. Contains some material that many parents would find unsuitable for children under 14. Parents
are strongly urged to exercise greater care in monitoring this program and are cautioned against letting children under the age of
14watch unattended. This program contains one or more of the f'ollowing content themes: intensely suggestive dialogue (D),
strong coarse language (L), intense sexual situations (S), or intense violence (V).
TV-PG Parental Guidance Suggested. Contains material that parents may find unsuitable for younger children. Many parents may
want to watch it with their younger children. The program contains one or more of the following content themes: some
suggestive dialogue (D), infrequent coarse language (L), some sexual situations (S), or moderate violence (V).
TV-G GeneralAudience. Most parents would find this program suitable for all ages. It contains little or no sexual dialogue (D) or
situations (S), no strong language (L), and little or no violence (V).
TV-Y7 Directed to Children 7 years and older. Designed for children ages 7 and above. It may be more appropriate f'orchildren who
have acquired the developmental skills needed to distinguish between make-believe and reality. Themes and elements in this
program may include mild fantasy violence (FV) or comedic violence, or may frighten children under the age of 7.
TV-Y All Children. Themes and elements in this program are designed for a young audience, including children from ages 2-6. It is
not expected to frighten younger children.

You can automatically block all program ratings o1"content above a specified age-based rating level using
the V-Chip 7WRad_4qLir_it screen.
Refer to the chart at the beginning of this section to learn about each age-based rating and its associated
content ratings.
• To block all programs above a certain rating level: Highlight the Rad*v,qi]eld, then scroll
through the ratings using the up and down arrow buttons until the loudest_*_acc_'ptab/erating is
highlighted. Then use the right arrow button to highlight the Rati_4_Stat_s field and select
Bloc/,'.
• To block all programs with specific content above a certain rating level: Content Themes are
specific to the rating level.Therefore, :,_tl must first highlight the Rad_4_field and scroll
through the ratings using the up and down arrow buttons until the loudestrating associated with
the type of content ?_u want to block is highlighted. Then highlight the Content Theme Status
field and change the Vto/5' under the appropriate Content Theme.
Viewing Age-Based Ratings and Content Themes
After you have blocked age-based ratings and content themes, you have the option of selectively
changing some of the ratings and themes back to Viezz_.
• To view ratings: Use the lek and right arrow buttons to highlight the Rad_g Field, then use
arrow up and down buttons to change its status from B/oe/"to View. \Vhen you change a
specific rating to View, the Content Status fields corresponding to the tmblocked rating become
Vieu_aswell.
• To view content: Highlight the RadJvgfield, then use the up and down arrow buttons to find
the rating whose Content Theme settings you want to change. Next, highlight the Content
Theme Status that ?_tl want to change using the right arrow button; then use the up and down
arrow buttons to change it to 1/.

Overriding Limits
When you override a blocked prograin by entering your password, tile Pm'e_m/(.?mtrols option on the
¼C/)ip Paternal C_mroh nlenu will read Disabled. In this state, access to the ¼(.7_ipPaternal (.b_troh
inenu is still locked and all controls will be in effect the next dine the TV is turned on.
"Unrated" vs. "Not Rated"
All movies are assigned a rating. Some
movies are given a rating of Not Rated (NR).
You can assign Block or View status to the NR
rating in the V-Chip Movie Rating Limit
screen.
Not all television programs are assigned a
rating (age-based rating). To assign View or
Block status to "unrated" television
programs, you must use the Unrated
Programs option from the V-Chip Parental
Controls menu.
Remember
When you want to watch a blocked
program, press the INFO button on the
remote to enter your password.
V-Chip Unrated Program Block
Selecting this option lets you decide if programs that the V-Chip recognizes as "unrated" can be viewed.
View All unrated programs are available.
Block No unrated programs are available.
"Unrated" TV programs may include news, sports, political, religious, local weather programs, and
public announcements. Also, the first few seconds of a channel with rated programming may be blocked
(due to a brief delay in transmission of the rating information).
Lock/Unlock Parental Controls
Selecting this option lets you lock and unlock parental controls settings using a password.
You must lock Parental Controls for TV rating and content, movie rating, and unrated program
blocks to take effect.
If you forget your password, the password can be reset to 0000 by pressing and holding the volume down
and the channel up buttons siimlltaneously for five seconds. Using this password, you can then access the
V-Chip menos and change the password.

Tile 77t_7e menu contains tile controls that let you set the sleep timer, set time, and wake-up timer
functions.
Sleep Timer Lets you select the amount of time you want to give the TV before it shuts itself off. Use
the VOL+/- buttons to increase or decrease the sleep timer by 30 minute increments. Press MENU to
exit.
Set Time Lets you enter the current time. Use tile VOL+/- buttons and nunlber buttons to set the
time. Press MENU to exit.
\v-¢:ake-upTimer Lets you enter the time you wish your television to turn itself on. Use tile VOL+/-
buttons to set the wake-up timer. To clear the wake-up timer, display the _lre-_p Tin_e_"screen and
press PRESETS.

Troubleshooting
If"you experience any diffkulty with your TV, c]]cd< these basic
remedies before calling your service technician.
TV will not turn on or controls don't work
*(:h{,¢k to make sure it is plugged in.
* Ched< the wall re(el)tack' (or extensi(in cord) to make sure
it is "live" by plugging in something else.
* "[iy unplugging set for one minute, plugging it back in,
and then turning it on again.
- Make sure the Front Panel Lock feature is not set.
- Something might be wrong with your remote control. Press
the POWER button on the front of the TV. [f the TV turns
on, check the ren]ote control.
Problems with remote
* Maybe something is Ix'twcen the remote and the remote
s(2nsor.
*Maybe the remote is not aimed directly at the TV's remote
s(2nsor.
