MAINTENANCE Maintenance operations must be entrusted to staff-members properly qualified and instructed on the specific
characteristics of the equipment in question, in accordance to Standards EN60079-17 and EN61241-17.
EQUIPMENT SERIES
Kinds of cable glands: RN, RNT, RAT, RNC, RNM, RAC, RAM, RAS, RAD, RALD, RATD; Certified: INERIS 06 ATEX0014X
• Cable glands and accessories for the above-mentioned series are suitable for non-armoured or thread, armoured cables, flat
twin cables or tape for all of the cable entries a part of the electrical groups I M2 Ex d I / EX e I and II 2 GD groups with protection
modes Ex d IIA/IIB/IIC and Ex e II; environmental temperature range: -40/+100 °C with EPDM or Neoprene rubber seals, -70/+220
°C with SILICONE (rubber) seals.
•Make sure the grade of protection for the cable glands and accessories is IP66 or IP66/68, 30 metres deep for 7 days according
to the EN 60529; the IP 68 protection grade is obtained by using flat sealing rings in the cable glands and accessories with cylindrical
screw-threads. Without the rings, the protection grade is IP 66. When the cable glands have cylindrical or cone-shaped screw-
threads, they are screwed in the threaded hole of an apparatus, in order to guarantee an IP66 or IP66/68 protection grade, coupling
screw-threads must be sealed with Loctite or similar. Metric cable glands conform to the Standard EN 50262.
INSTALLATION
• These products must be installed according to the requirements of European Standards EN 60079-14, EN 61241-14 or other national
laws or standards. The CE certificate standards do not cover different uses from what has been described in the requirements.
•Verify the suitability of the cable glands in respects to the installation zone, group, category, temperature class, gas group and
environmental temperatures.
• User must be aware of the risks associated with electrical currents and chemical/physical characteristics of the gases and/or
vapours and of the dust present in the system.
•Assemblage and tightening of the cable glands and accessories must not compromise grade of protection.
•For Exd enclosures, the length of the screw-threads found in the threaded cylindrical joints must be ≥5 mm per case with a volume
of <100 cm
3
, and ≥8 mm with a volume of >100 cm
3
, the number of threads must be ≥5. In the threaded cone-shaped joints, the
executed threads for each part must be ≥6, considering the maximum tolerance accepted, the real number of threads might be
less than 5. Verify the indicated diameter of the rubber seal and choose a cable with the suitable diameter.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR SAFE USAGE
• The cable glands and rubber holding seals must be compatible with the diameter of the installed cables, measured according
to the nominal intensity permitted in the relative electrical circuits.
•In accordance to the certificate’s descriptive documentation, the cables and cable glands with a dimension of 63 and higher
must be fastened and done in proximity of the cable glands.
