end of the AC power cord sec rely into the power adapter and the other end into a
s rge-protected power strip (recommended) or a standard wall o tlet.
For the best performance and optimal image q ality, the system sho ld be at normal room
temperat re before t rning the system on.
CAUTION: Ens re that the socket-o tlet is located near the eq ipment and is easily
accessible.
6Yo can adj st the monitor to yo r preferred position by gripping both sides of the
LCD monitor and slide it p or down on its adj stable track in a smooth, even
motion. After switching the Jo rney on, re-check the height for the most
comfortable viewing position. The monitor can also be tilted forward or backward to
angle the screen for better viewing comfort.
Sa ety and maintenance
•When attempting to move the Jo rney, always p t the viewing table in the locked
position ( se the brake lever below the viewing table and move it to the far right)
and se the hand grips at the base of the nit.
•Place the Jo rney on a st rdy table away from any heat so rce. Do not place yo r
nit on an nstable table, cart, or stand. Doing so may ca se the nit to fall, possibly
ca sing serio s damage to the nit or bodily inj ry.
•Use of a s rge protected power strip is recommended to protect yo r nit from
power o tages, etc.

V0.0 5
•Avoid p tting yo r hands and fingers into any opening (to ching the camera lens, or
the mirror in the camera ho sing, co ld red ce image q ality).
•D st the screen as needed with a soft, dry cloth.
•When cleaning the nit’s plastic s rfaces, se a slightly damp cloth. Make s re that
the nit is powered off. Avoid sing harsh chemicals or cleaning liq ids on the nit.
•Always se the correct power adapter. This system is designed for se with no. STD-

FSP060-1AD101C (FSP Gro p) power s pply.
3 Controls
On / O switch
Yo can switch the nit on by sing the power switch located on the front, right corner of
the camera ho sing. The LED lighting will ill minate the viewing table. The screen sho ld
a tomatically come on after a normal delay of a few seconds.
If the LED lights do not ill minate, and the screen does not come on, please check the
power adapter connections described in the previo s section.
Selecting the viewing mode
Located on the panel below the LCD monitor, the mode switch allows a choice of f ll
color, selected black & white, or color combinations. These modes have been designed for
optimal viewing based on yo r niq e vision needs. Once chosen, the setting will remain
ntil yo make a different choice.

V0.0 6
By p shing the mode switch to the right or to the left yo cycle forward or backwards
respectively thro gh the following viewing modes:
1. F ll color mode (the factory defa lt)
2. Enhanced reverse mode (white text on a black backgro nd)
3. Enhanced B&W mode (black text on a white backgro nd)
4. Yellow/bl e mode (yellow text on a bl e backgro nd)
5. Yellow/black mode (yellow text on a black backgro nd)
6. C stom color mode (an optional feat re)
The c stom color mode allows yo to choose vario s foregro nd and backgro nd color
combinations for optimal viewing based on yo r vision needs. When switched to this mode,
"C stom Color" is briefly displayed on the screen.
To select c stom colors, reach aro nd the left side of the nit to the left rear corner of the
camera nit’s rear panel. Here yo will locate the c stom color rocker switch (it is located
next to the power jack).
Rock the switch to the inside (right) to change the backgro nd color.
Rock the switch to the o tside (left) to change the foregro nd color.
Note: While in any mode, yo can ret rn to the defa lt f ll-color mode by pressing and
holding the mode switch to the left for 2 seconds.
Adjusting magni ication
Magnification, or size of the image being viewed, is adj sted by t rning the size control
(large middle knob below the screen).
The size setting is retained when switching the nit off, and will be sed again when yo
switch the Jo rney back on.
T rn right to make the image larger.
T rn left to make the image smaller.
TIP: When first learning to se the Jo rney, place some printed material on the viewing
table and adj st the size control to the smallest magnification setting. Then begin t rning
the size control to increase the size of the image ntil yo are able to read the text
comfortably.

V0.0 7
Magnification can also be adj sted by sing the programmable size preset feat re. This
feat re allows yo to save yo r favorite size setting and access it at any given time.
A defa lt size preset is programmed by the factory. It is activated by p shing IN on the size
control (”Preset On” is briefly displayed on the screen).
To program yo r own preferred size preset level, first t rn the size control to the desired
magnification level. Next, p sh and hold the size control for approximately 4 seconds ntil
“Preset Saved” appears on the screen.
Yo can confirm yo r size preset is saved by t rning the size control to a different setting.
As soon as yo adj st the size control, the camera will reset to man al size adj stment and
“Preset Off” appears on screen. Now press the size control once and the size sho ld adj st
to yo r saved setting.
Adjusting brightness
The brightness control is sed to brighten or darken the image being viewed. Brightness
can be readj sted at any time, in any mode.
T rn right to brighten.
T rn left to darken image.
Adjusting LED lights
The long-lasting LED lights provide a warm white, non-glaring light. The factory setting
allows for the most light and the best image (decreasing the light intensity ca ses loss of
color and red ced image q ality).
If the light is too bright, place yo r hand on the nderside of the camera nit and slide yo
fingers back and to the left from the power switch nit. Do this ntil yo feel a set of
b mps behind the back-right corner of the lens opening. Between these two raised b mps
there is an adj stable ribbed dial.

V0.0 8
•Unclick and roll the dial backwards to dim light intensity.
•Click the dial forward to ret rn to f ll intensity (the factory recommended preset).
Using the line / window eature
The line / window control feat re allows yo to se a horizontal or vertical g ide line or
window on yo r screen to aid with reading, writing, and isolating lines or col mns of text.
This feat re is activated by t rning the line / window control knob left or right, which
moves the line or window onto the screen. Once the feat re appears on the screen, yo can
choose yo r preferred mode by p shing in on the line / window control knob:
•Horizontal line
•Horizontal window
•Vertical line
•Vertical window
The line modes create a reference line on the screen which can be very sef l for writing.
The window modes are ideal for isolating a line or col mn of text.
Once yo have chosen yo r preferred L/W mode, t rn the knob to position the line or
window to the ideal position on the screen. To remove the marking lines / windowing from
the screen, t rn the knob to the extreme left or right.
When yo t rn the system off, the Jo rney will retain the L/W mode and screen position
yo have chosen, and will se these when yo start sing the Jo rney again.

V0.0 9
Viewing table
The viewing table (also referred to as X-Y table) is mo nted on a sliding mechanism,
allowing yo to move it from left to right and front to back nder the camera. This assists
yo in moving the material yo are viewing in a fl ent motion.
Depending on what is being viewed, yo may prefer that the viewing table remain steady or
locked. The table is eq ipped with a brake lever to slow down or lock the movement of the
table. This lever is located below the front edge of the table.
P shing the lever all the way to the right locks the table.
Releasing the lever all the way to the left restores f ll table movement
front to back and side-to-side.
Additional table eatures
•The rear alignment edge on the viewing table allows yo to line p pages or
envelopes to a perfect horizontal or vertical position. This is especially sef l d ring
reading and writing.
•The non-glare, wipeable table s rface red ces eyestrain. Its dark color and speckled
pattern help yo to disting ish the edge of a white page.
•The indentations at the front of the viewing table can be sed for small pens or
pencils, or as finger grips.
