GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS
• Carefully read and understand the operator's manual of the unit
that powers this attachment.
• Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the controls and
proper use of the unit.
• Do not operate this unit when tired, ill or under the influence of
alcohol, drugs or medication.
• Children must not operate the unit. Teens must be accompanied
and guided by an adult.
• All guards and safety attachments must be installed properly
before operating the unit.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE OPERATING • Inspect the unit before use. Replace damaged parts. Make sure
all fasteners are in place and secure. Replace parts that are
cracked, chipped, or damaged in any way. Do not operate the
unit with loose or damaged parts.
• Only use the trimming line described in the Specifications section
of this manual. Never use metal-reinforced line, wire, chain or
rope. These can break off and become dangerous projectiles.
• Be aware of risk of injury to the head, hands and feet.
• Carefully inspect the area before starting the unit. Remove
rocks, broken glass, nails, wire, string and other objects that
may be thrown or become entangled with the unit.
• Clear the area of children, bystanders and pets; keep them
outside a 50-foot (15 m) radius, at a minimum. Even then, they are
still at risk from thrown objects. Encourage bystanders to wear
eye protection. If you are approached, stop the unit immediately.

deserve your careful attention and understanding. The safety

OTHER SAFETY WARNINGS
• Maintain the unit with care.
• All service, other than the maintenance procedures described in this
manual, should be performed by an authorized service dealer.
• Never remove, modify or make inoperative any safety device
furnished with the unit.
• Before inspecting, maintaining, cleaning, storing, transporting or
replacing any parts on the unit:
1. Stop the motor. Refer to Starting and Stopping in the power
head operator’s manual.
2. Wait for all moving parts to stop.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Allow the unit to cool.
• To reduce the risk of injury and to maximize performance, keep
the line cutting blade clean.
• Secure the unit while transporting.
• Store the unit in a dry place, secured or at a height to prevent
unauthorized use or damage. Keep the unit out of the reach of
children.
• Never douse or squirt the unit with water or any other liquid.
Clean the unit after each use. Refer to Cleaning and Storage. Do
not use solvents or strong detergents.
• Keep these instructions. Refer to them often and use them to
instruct other users. If you loan this unit to others, also loan
them these instructions.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
WHILE OPERATING
• Wear safety glasses or goggles that meet current ANSI / ISEA
Z87.1 standards and are marked as such. Wear ear/hearing
protection when operating this unit. Wear a face or dust mask if
the operation is dusty.
• Wear heavy long pants, boots, gloves and a long sleeve shirt. Do
not wear loose clothing, jewelry, short pants, sandals or go
barefoot. Secure hair above shoulder level.
• The cutting head shield must always be in place while operating
the unit. Do not operate the unit without both trimming lines
extended and the proper line installed. Do not extend the
trimming line beyond the length of the shield.
• Adjust the handle to provide the best grip, if applicable.
• Make sure the attachment is not in contact with anything before
starting the unit.
• Use the unit only in daylight or good artificial light.
• Use the right tool. Only use this tool for its intended purpose.
• Always hold the unit with both hands when operating. Keep a
firm grip on both handles or grips.
• Do not handle the unit with wet hands.
• Do not overreach. Always keep proper footing and balance. Take
extra care when working on stairs, steep slopes or inclines. To
avoid serious injury, do not operate the unit while on a ladder or
a roof.
• Do not operate the unit on wet surfaces.
• Keep hands, face, and feet away from all moving parts. Do not
touch or try to stop moving parts.
• Keep hands and feet away from the cutting area.
• Do not operate the unit faster than the speed needed to do the
job. Do not run the unit at high speed when not in use.
• Do not force the unit. It will do a better, safer job when used at
the intended rate.
• Always stop the unit when operation is delayed or when walking
from one location to another.
• Remove the battery from the unit when it is not in use.
• If the unit strikes or becomes entangled with a foreign object,
stop the motor immediately, remove the battery and check for
damage. If damaged, do not restart or operate the unit until it is
repaired. Do not operate the unit with loose or damaged parts.
• If the unit starts to vibrate abnormally, stop the motor, remove the
battery and allow the unit to cool. Then inspect the unit for the
cause of the vibration. Vibration is generally an indicator of trouble.
• Use only original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement
parts and accessories for this unit. These are available from your
authorized service dealer. Use of any other parts or accessories
could lead to serious injury to the user, or damage to the unit,
and void the warranty.
• Keep the unit clean. Carefully remove vegetation and other
debris that could block moving parts.
WARNING:To reduce the risk of electric
shock, do not expose the unit to rain or wet conditions.
Store the unit indoors.

from the rotating rotor.

WARNING:Keep all bystanders,
especially children and pets, at least 50 feet (15 m)
from the operating area.
• SHARP BLADE
WARNING:Sharp blade on trimmer
attachment shield. To prevent serious injury, do not
touch the line cutting blade.
• HOT SURFACE
WARNING:Do not touch hot surfaces.
You may get burned. The gear housing can become
extremely hot during operation and remain hot for a
short time after the unit is turned off.
• DO NOT USE IN THE RAIN
WARNING:Avoid dangerous
environments. Never operate the unit in the rain or in
damp or wet conditions. Moisture is a shock hazard.

ASSEMBLY
INSTALLING THE CUTTING HEAD SHIELD
1. Slide the rear shield section onto the back of the mount bracket
(Fig. 1). The shield section should slide into the groove (Fig. 1).
This may require a firm push.
2. Slide the front shield section onto the front of the mount bracket
(Fig. 2). The shield section should slide into the groove (Fig. 2).
This may require a firm push.
3. Align the holes in the rear shield section with the holes in the
front shield section (Fig. 3).
4. Insert the 2 screws through the aligned holes (Fig. 3). Turn the
screws until they are finger tight.
5. Using a flat-head or T20 Torx® screwdriver, tighten the screws
until the cutting head shield is firmly in place.
WARNING: To prevent serious personal injury, never
operate the unit without the cutting head shield in place.

WARNING: Only use this attachment with RM300-PH
power heads. Using this attachment with any other unit
could result in personal injury and damage to the unit.
WARNING: To avoid serious personal injury and
damage to the unit, shut the unit off before removing or
installing an attachment.
INSTALLING AND REMOVING THE ATTACHMENT
Installing the Attachment
1. Remove the protective cap from the attachment.
2. Set the unit on a flat, level surface.
3. Align the attachment with the power head (Fig. 4) so that the
cutting head will face the ground when the unit is held in the
operating position (Fig. 5).
4. Insert the attachment into the power head until the latch snaps
into place (Fig. 4).
5. Gently pull the attachment away from the power head to verify
that it is securely installed.
Removing the Attachment
1. Push the latch button down firmly and pull the attachment
straight out of the power head (Fig. 4).

ROTATING THE ATTACHMENT
If desired, the attachment can be rotated 90º clockwise or
counterclockwise.
1. Push the latch button (Fig. 4) down firmly and rotate the
attachment clockwise or counterclockwise to the desired
position.
2. Release the latch button to lock the attachment in place.

OPERATION
HOLDING THE UNIT
• Stand in the operating position (Fig. 5).
• Hold the rear handle with one hand. Keep that arm slightly bent.
• Hold the front handle with the other hand. Keep that arm straight.
• Hold the unit at waist level.
• Keep the cutting head parallel to the ground so that it easily
contacts the grass without the need for bending over.
WARNING: Always wear eye, hearing, hand, foot and
body protection to reduce the risk of injury when operating
this unit.
TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS
• Keep the cutting head parallel to the ground.
• Cut from left to right whenever possible. This improves the unit's
cutting efficiency and throws clippings away from the operator.
• Do not trim wet grass or weeds.
NOTE: Some line breakage will occur from:
• Entanglement with foreign matter
• Normal line fatigue
• Attempting to cut thick vegetation
• Forcing the line into objects such as walls or fence posts
DECORATIVE TRIMMING
When trimming around trees, posts, fences, etc., rotate the whole
unit so that the cutting head is at a 30° angle to the ground (Fig. 6).

MAINTENANCE
WARNING: To prevent serious injury, never perform
maintenance on the unit while it is running. Always remove
the battery to prevent the unit from starting accidentally.
Always allow the unit to cool before maintaining the unit.
Before maintaining the battery charger, always unplug it
from the wall outlet.

REPLACING THE TRIMMING LINE
Only use the trimming line described in the Specifications section.
Other types of trimming line may cause the motor to overheat or fail.
Installing New Trimming Line
1. Remove the old line from the cutting head.
2. Use a clean cloth to clean the surface of the cutting head.
3. Insert the ends of the line through the holes in the side of the
cutting head (Fig. 7). Push the line through the holes until both
ends protrude from the positioning tunnels (Fig. 8).
4. Pull the ends of the line until the line is tight against the cutting
head. Make sure the ends of the line are of equal length (Fig. 9).
The line cutting blade will trim any excess line.
WARNING: Never use metal-reinforced line, wire, chain or
rope. These can break off and become dangerous projectiles.

CLEANING AND STORAGE
CLEANING
Use a small brush or clean, dry cloth to clean the outside of the unit.
STORAGE
• Remove the battery from the unit.
• Allow the unit to cool.
• Thoroughly clean the unit and inspect it for any loose or
damaged parts. Replace damaged parts and tighten loose
screws, nuts or bolts.
• Lock up the unit to prevent unauthorized use or damage.
• Store the unit indoors, in a dry, well-ventilated area.
• Store the unit out of the reach of children.
WARNING: To prevent serious injury, never clean the unit
while it is running. Always remove the battery to prevent the
unit from starting accidentally. Always allow the unit to cool
before cleaning the unit.
WARNING: To prevent serious injury, do not use water to
clean the unit. Do not use strong detergents. Household
cleaners that contain aromatic oils such as pine and lemon,
and solvents such as kerosene, can damage plastic.

• Inspectez l'appareil avant l'utilisation. Remplacez les pièces
endommagées. Assurez-vous que toutes les fixations sont en place
et bien serrées. Remplacez les pièces fissurées, ébréchées ou
endommagées d’une manière ou d’une autre. Ne faites pas
fonctionner l'appareil avec des pièces lâches ou endommagées.
• Utilisez uniquement le fil de coupe décrit dans la section
Caractéristiques de ce manuel. N’utilisez jamais de fils, de
câbles, de chaînes ou de cordons à renfort métallique. Ils
peuvent se casser et se transformer en projectiles dangereux.
• Vous devez être conscient des risques de blessures à la tête,
aux mains et aux pieds.
• Inspectez attentivement la zone de travail avant de démarrer
l’appareil. Retirez les pierres, le verre cassé, les clous, les fils, les
ficelles et autres objets qui peuvent être projetés ou s’enrouler
dans l’appareil.
• Éloignez les enfants, les passants et les animaux domestiques ;
ils doivent rester dans un rayon d’au moins 15 mètres (50 pieds).
Même à cette distance, il existe néanmoins un risque de
projectiles pour les personnes à proximité. Encouragez-les à
porter des lunettes de sécurité. Si quelqu’un s’approche de
vous, arrêtez immédiatement l’appareil.

LORS DU FONCTIONNEMENT
• Portez des lunettes de sécurité conformes aux normes ANSI / ISEA
Z87.1 en vigueur et marquées comme telles. Portez une protection
auditive pendant l’utilisation de cet appareil. Portez un masque
facial ou antipoussière si l’opération est poussiéreuse.
• Portez un pantalon long et épais, des bottes, des gants et une
chemise à manches longues. Ne portez pas des vêtements
amples, des bijoux, un pantalon court, des sandales et ne travaillez
pas pieds nus. Attachez vos cheveux au-dessus des épaules.
• Le carter de la tête de coupe doit toujours être en place pendant
l’utilisation de l’appareil. N’utilisez pas l’appareil sans que les
deux fils de coupe soient tendus et que le fil correct soit installé.
Ne tirez pas le fil de coupe au-delà du carter de protection.
• Ajustez la poignée pour procurer une meilleure prise, le cas échéant.
• Assurez-vous que l'accessoire n'est pas en contact avec quoi
que ce soit avant de démarrer l'appareil.
• Utilisez l'appareil uniquement à la lumière du jour ou sous un
bon éclairage artificiel.
• Utilisez le bon outil. N'utilisez cet outil que pour son usage prévu.
• Tenez toujours l’appareil à deux mains lorsqu’il est en marche.
Tenez fermement les deux anses ou poignées.
• N’actionnez pas l’appareil avec les mains mouillées.
• Ne vous penchez pas trop en avant. Conservez toujours une
position stable et un bon équilibre. Redoublez de prudence
lorsque vous travaillez dans des escaliers, des pentes ou des
rampes abruptes. Pour éviter les blessures graves, n'utilisez pas
l'appareil lorsque vous vous trouvez sur une échelle ou un toit.
• N'actionnez pas l'appareil sur des surfaces mouillées.
• Éloignez vos mains, votre visage et vos pieds des pièces
mobiles. Ne touchez pas ou n’essayez pas d’arrêter des pièces
en mouvement.
• Gardez les mains et les pieds éloignés de la zone de coupe.
• N’utilisez pas l’appareil à une vitesse supérieure à celle
nécessaire pour réaliser le travail. Ne faites pas fonctionner
l’appareil à haute vitesse quand vous ne l’utilisez pas.
• Ne forcez pas l’appareil. Il sera plus efficace et plus sûr si vous
l’utilisez à la vitesse pour laquelle il a été conçu.
• Arrêtez toujours l’appareil quand le travail est interrompu ou
quand vous vous déplacez d'un endroit à un autre.
• Retirez la batterie de l’appareil lorsqu’il n’est pas utilisé.
• Si l’appareil frappe un objet étranger, ou s’y empêtre, arrêtez
immédiatement le moteur, retirez la batterie et vérifiez s’il y a des
dommages. S’il est endommagé, ne redémarrez pas ni n’utilisez
l’appareil jusqu’à ce qu’il soit réparé. N’utilisez pas l’appareil
quand des pièces sont desserrées ou endommagées.
• Si l’appareil commence à vibrer anormalement, arrêtez le
moteur, enlevez la batterie et laissez l’appareil refroidir. Ensuite,
inspectez l’appareil pour trouver la raison de la vibration. Les
vibrations indiquent en général un problème.
• Utilisez uniquement des pièces de rechange d'équipement
d'origine et des accessoires pour cet appareil provenant des
équipementiers. Ils sont disponibles auprès d'ateliers de
réparations agréés. L'utilisation de toute autre pièce ou de tout
autre accessoire peut entraîner des blessures sérieuses à
l'opérateur ou endommager l'appareil et annuler la garantie.
• L’appareil doit rester propre. Retirez avec précaution la végétation
et autres débris qui pourraient bloquer les pièces mobiles.
AVERTISSEMENT :Pour réduire
le risque d’électrocution, n’exposez pas l’appareil à la pluie
ou au temps humide. Rangez l’appareil à l’intérieur.
AUTRES AVERTISSEMENTS DE SÉCURITÉ
• Maintenez l'unité avec soin.
• Toutes les réparations, autres que les procédures de
maintenance décrites dans ce manuel, doivent être effectuées
par un centre de réparations agréé.
• Ne retirez, modifiez ou rendez jamais inopérant tout dispositif de
sécurité fourni avec l'appareil.
• Avant une inspection, un entretien, un nettoyage, un entreposage,
un transport ou le remplacement d’une pièce de l’appareil :
1. Arrêtez le moteur. Reportez-vous à la section Démarrage et
arrêt du manuel de l’utilisateur de la tête motorisée.
2. Attendez que toutes les pièces mobiles s’arrêtent.
3. Enlevez la batterie.
4. Laissez l'appareil refroidir.
• Pour réduire le risque de blessures et optimiser les
performances, gardez la lame de coupe propre.
• Fixez bien l'appareil pendant le transport.
• Rangez l'appareil dans un endroit sec, sécurisé ou à une hauteur
permettant d'éviter toute utilisation ou tout dommage
indésirable. Laissez l'appareil hors de la portée des enfants.
• N'arrosez jamais l'appareil avec de l'eau ou tout autre liquide.
Nettoyez l'appareil après chaque utilisation. Reportez-vous à
Nettoyage et rangement. N'utilisez pas de solvants ou de
détergents puissants.
• Conservez ces instructions. Consultez-les souvent et utilisez-les
pour expliquer le fonctionnement aux autres utilisateurs. Si vous
prêtez cet appareil à d'autres, prêtez-leur aussi ces instructions.

vous brûler. Le carter d'engrenage peut devenir très
chaud pendant le fonctionnement et rester chaud

ASSEMBLAGE
INSTALLATION DU CARTER DE PROTECTION DE LA
TÊTE DE COUPE
1. Faites glisser la section arrière du bouclier sur le dos du support
de fixation (Fig. 1). La section du bouclier doit glisser dans la
rainure (Fig. 1). Cela peut nécessiter une pression ferme.
2. Faites glisser la section avant du bouclier sur l'avant du support
de fixation (Fig. 2). La section du bouclier doit glisser dans la
rainure (Fig. 2). Cela peut nécessiter une pression ferme.
3. Alignez les orifices de la section arrière de bouclier avec les
orifices de la section de bouclier avant (Fig. 3).
4. Insérez les 2 vis dans les orifices alignés (Fig. 3). Tournez
manuellement les vis jusqu'à ce qu'elles soient serrées.
5. En utilisant un tournevis à tête plate ou un tournevis T20 TorxMD,
serrez les vis jusqu'à ce que le bouclier de la tête de coupe soit
bien en place.
AVERTISSEMENT : pour éviter toute blessure grave,
n’utilisez jamais cet appareil quand le carter de protection
de la tête de coupe n’est pas en place.

AVERTISSEMENT : N’utilisez cet accessoire qu’avec
les têtes motorisées RM300-PH. L’utilisation de cet
accessoire avec un autre appareil pourrait entraîner des
blessures et des dommages à l’appareil.

d’installer un accessoire.
INSTALLATION ET RETRAIT DE L’ACCESSOIRE
Installation de l’accessoire
1. Enlevez le capuchon protecteur de l'accessoire.
2. Réglez l'appareil sur une surface plane.
3. Alignez l'attache avec la tête motorisée (Fig. 4), de sorte que la
tête de coupe doive faire face au sol lorsque l'appareil est
maintenu dans la position de fonctionnement (Fig. 5).
4. Insérez l’accessoire dans la tête motorisée jusqu’à ce que la
clavette s’enclenche en place (Fig. 4).
5. Tirez doucement l’accessoire hors de la tête motorisée pour
vérifier qu’il est correctement installé.
Démontage de l’accessoire
1. Enfoncez le bouton de verrouillage et tirez l’accessoire hors de
la tête motorisée (Fig. 4).

ROTATION DE L'ACCESSOIRE
Si on le souhaite, l'accessoire peut être tourné de 90° dans le sens
horaire ou antihoraire.
1. Appuyez fermement sur le bouton de verrouillage (Fig. 4) et
tournez l'accessoire dans le sens horaire ou antihoraire jusqu'à
la position souhaitée.
2. Relâchez le bouton de verrouillage pour verrouiller l'accessoire
en place.

UTILISATION
TENUE DE L’APPAREIL
• Placez-vous en position d’utilisation (Fig. 5).
• Maintenez la poignée arrière d’une main. Gardez ce bras
légèrement fléchi.
• Maintenez la poignée avant de l’autre main. Gardez ce bras droit.
• Tenez l’appareil au niveau de votre taille.
• La tête de coupe doit rester parallèle au sol afin de toucher
facilement l’herbe sans que l’opérateur ne soit obligé de se pencher.
AVERTISSEMENT : portez toujours une protection
pour les yeux, les oreilles, les mains, les pieds et le corps
afin de limiter les risques de blessure pendant l’utilisation
de cet appareil.
COUPE DE BORDURE DÉCORATIVE
Quand vous taillez autour des arbres, des poteaux, des clôtures,
etc., faites tourner complètement l’appareil afin que la tête de
coupe soit à un angle de 30° par rapport au sol (Fig. 6).

CONSEILS POUR UN RÉSULTAT OPTIMAL
• Maintenez la tête de coupe parallèle au sol.
• Coupez dès que possible de la gauche vers la droite. L’efficacité
de la coupe est ainsi améliorée et les coupures de végétation
sont projetées loin de l’opérateur.
• Ne coupez pas de l’herbe ou des mauvaises herbes mouillées.
REMARQUE : le fil peut parfois se casser à cause de :
• Une matière étrangère qui s’enroule dans l’appareil
• Une usure normale du fil
• La coupe d’une végétation épaisse
• Le forçage du fil contre des objets comme des murs ou des
poteaux de clôture

ENTRETIEN
AVERTISSEMENT : Pour éviter les graves blessures,
n'effectuez jamais l'entretien de l'appareil lorsqu'il est en
marche. Enlevez toujours la batterie pour empêcher
l'appareil de démarrer accidentellement. Laissez toujours
l'appareil refroidir avant d'en effectuer l'entretien. Avant de
maintenir le chargeur de batterie, débranchez-le toujours
de la prise électrique.

REMPLACEMENT DU FIL DE COUPE
Utilisez uniquement le fil de coupe décrit dans la section
Caractéristiques. D'autres types de fil de coupe peuvent provoquer
une surchauffe du moteur ou une défaillance.
Installation d'un nouveau fil de coupe
1. Etirez l’ancienne ligne de coupe de la tête de coupe.
2. Utilisez un linge propre pour nettoyer la surface de la tête de coupe.
3. Insérer les extrémités du fil à travers les orifices se trouvant sur
le côté de la tête de coupe (Fig. 7). Enfoncez la ligne de coupe
dans ces trous jusqu'à ce que les deux extrémités ressortent
des tunnels de positionnement (Fig. 8).
4. Tirez sur les deux extrémités de la ligne de coupe jusqu'à ce
que la ligne soit tendue contre la tête de coupe. Assurez-vous
que les deux extrémités de la ligne de coupe sont de longueur
égale (Fig. 9). La lame de coupe coupera tout excédent de bordure.
