This operating manual is a translation of the German original.
This manual is an integral part of the unit and must always be kept in
the vicinity of the installation location or on the unit itself.

Safety notes
The units were subjected to
extensive material, functional and
quality inspections prior to delivery.
However, dangers can emanate
from the units if they are used
improperly or not as intended by
untrained personnel.
Always observe the following
safety instructions:
■The respective building code
regulations must be observed as
a basic rule
■The operator is responsible for
the proper unit installation, the
correct electrical installation and
the safe operation of the units
■The units must be set up,
installed and operated in such a
way that no one is endangered
or stressed by radiated heat
■The units may only be fastened
to structures or ceilings made
of construction materials of
sufficient load bearing capacity
■The fastening must take place
with bearing anchors, which are
to be fastened to the unit
■Assembly, connection of the
heating medium, connection
of the electrical system and
the maintenance may only be
carried out by trained, qualified
persons
■The units may not be installed,
mounted or operated in
potentially flammable or
explosive environments
■The units must be installed away
from traffic zones and installed
by crane, for example. A safety
zone with a clearance of 1 m
must be ensured
■The units may only be operated
in completely assembled
condition
■Safety components (e.g.
protection grids)
must not be removed or
rendered inoperative
■The units may only be used as
intended within the specified
output limits and with the
approved conveying media
Observe name plate!
■The intake protection grid must
always be free of dirt and loose
objects; the unit outlet may not
be covered or closed
■Never insert foreign objects
into the unit
■The units may not be exposed
to direct jets of water
■Never allow water to enter the
units
■All electrical cables for the
units must be protected against
damage (e.g. by animals etc.)
Unit description
The units are stationary, indirectly
loaded air heaters with Cu /
Al finned heat exchanger for
connection to a pumped hot water
network up to max. 110 °C for
sizes 80 and 100, and max. 90 °C
for sizes 30 and 50.
The units can be mounted on the
wall or ceiling.
The units can be equipped with
various suction and exhaust
accessories.
The units are equipped with
horizontal individually adjustable
air outlet fins as standard.
The units are equipped
with a noise-optimised and
aerodynamically designed high-
performance axial fan in the shape
of a sickle, individually adjustable
air outlet fins and an electrical
terminal box.
The units are equipped as standard
with an EC external rotor motor in
230 V / 50 Hz version.
The units conform to the
fundamental health and safety
requirements of the appropriate
EU regulations, and are simple to
operate.
NOTE
Fault-free function of the units
is only guaranteed if the inlet
temperature at the unit inlet
and the pump performance are
appropriate for the selected
unit classification.

For safe unit installation, observe
the following instructions:
■The units are to be arranged
so that people working and
standing near them are not in
the direct air flow
■The units may only be installed
on ceilings or roof structures
with sufficient load-bearing
capacity
■The heat exchangers must be
connected in such a way that
no vibrations can be transferred
from the unit to the piping
system or vice versa
■With wall installation, a
minimum height of 2.5 m to
the bottom edge of the unit
should be observed
■With wall installation above
4 m, a recirculating air intake
from the ground should take
place for consistent heating
■With ceiling installation below
4 m, the units should be
equipped with an exhaust hood

■With ceiling installation
above 4 m, the units should
be equipped with the ceiling
exhaust nozzle AD
■Before connecting the units to
an existing hot water heating
system, the boiler and pump
output must be checked for
sufficient capacity
■For maintenance and repair
work, a repair switch should be
installed near the unit
■The distance between the fan
blade and unit housing must be
checked for an even gap size
■Units with fresh-air intake
must be equipped with frost
protection monitors
Heat exchanger Cu / Al
The finned heat exchangers are
comprised of copper tubes with
pressed aluminium fins.
The fin package is enclosed in a
galvanised steel frame.
The collector, distributor and
heating medium connections are
all made of steel.

Bracket KO
for wall and ceiling installation
Brackets
Brackets (KO) for wall and ceiling installation (2 pieces per unit) are
inserted in the openings on the rear side of the unit and fastened to the
unit with the accompanying screws.
Direct unit attachments, such as
mixed air or filter coffers are to be
fastened, if applicable, with a wall
fastening bracket (WFM).
With the use of a customer-
provided bracket construction,
adhere to the minimum distance
“e” to the wall!
CAUTION
The brackets must be
connected to the unit and
the wall or ceiling in a de-
energised state.

The electrical unit connections may
only be established by authorised
specialists in accordance with the
applicable regulations, observing
the regulations from the local
energy supplier, as well as the
unit-specific VDE installation
regulations.
Connecting the units
The units are equipped with single-
phase EC axial fans as standard.
The speed is set via a 0-10V signal.

■ When installing a group
controller, make sure that all
connected units have the same
polarity.
■ The minimum impedance of the
control used must be observed
(see technical data of the
control used).
Example calculation
■ Connected units: 4 x PWW
■ Impedance of a unit: 100 kOhm
■ Minimum impedance of the on-site control: 1.5 kOhm
Results:
The 4 PWW units can be connected to the control because the minimum impedance of the control (1.5 kOhm)
has not been undercut.

Connection to the hot water
heating system
Before connection to the on-site
heating system, it must be ensured
that the respective unit-specific
output requirements can always be
provided.
■ The unit connection on the
water side must be established
by the customer using suitable
pipe fittings and shut-off valves
in the flow and return
The use of compensators
and an automatic air vent is
recommended!
■ The finned heat exchangers
operate on the counterflow
principle
■ The connection side is arbitrary -
right or left.
CAUTION: Note inlet and
return flow
■ The finned heat exchangers
are to be carefully bled after
installation is complete.
Air pockets in the finned heat
exchanger cause a reduction in
the heating capacity!
■ The thread sizes of the pipe
connections can be found in the
technical data.
Drainage when at risk of
freezing
Complete static drainage of the
finned heat exchanger is not
possible.
Complete drainage of the finned
heat exchanger is only possible
with compressed air.
Important information for
anti-freeze protection!
In order to prevent frost damage,
a frost protection device must be
attached with temperatures below
0 °C.
With systems that are
decommissioned in rooms at risk of
freezing, the heat exchanger may
never contain water. The residual
water should be blasted out with
compressed air.
If this is not possible, the heating
medium (water) must be mixed
with suitable anti-freeze protection
agent.

NOTE
In order to prevent damage
from the connecting pipes
turning, an appropriate tool
must be used to hold them
while connecting the screw

CAUTION: When connecting the pipes, do not mix up the inlet and return flow pipes.
The water inlet (flow) is always on the air outlet side and the water outlet on the air
inlet side.
It is essential to observe this when changing the installation or connection positions.

Before initial commissioning
1. It must be checked to ensure
that the mechanical installation
was carried out correctly.
2. The proper connection to the
on-site heating system must be
checked.
3. It must be checked whether hot
surfaces are protected against
unintentional contact.
4. It must be checked whether the
electrical wiring of the units has
been conducted in accordance
with the valid guidelines and
standards and in observance
of the accompanying circuit
diagrams.
5. The fan chamber as well as the
intake and exhaust areas must
be checked for foreign objects.
6. Check whether all blower
outlets are open.
7. The ease of movement of the
fan must be checked.
8. Disconnect the mains power
supply to the switchgear
(accessory) and switch on the
unit with the control switch of
the switch gear.
Switch the operating switch for the
relevant switchgear to the “Off”
or “0” position.
With longer breaks in
operation:
■ Disconnect the electrical
connection at all poles
■ Shut off the heating medium
connection
■ If there is a danger of frost,
the complete system should
be emptied if the heating
medium (water) has not been
mixed with suitable anti-freeze
protection agent
Commissioning Shutdown
During initial commissioning
All regulating, control and safety
equipment must be checked for
function and correct settings
during the initial commissioning.
1. The current consumption of the
fan must be measured.
The rated current may not
exceed the value specified on
the name plate in the respective
switching speeds.
2. Check the control function of
the fan.
3. Check the motor protection
function of the fan.
4. If installed,check the function
of the frost protection device
and the room thermostat.
5. Check the entire system for
strain-free installation and
potential vibrations.
6. Check the heating medium
supply lines for proper
connection and tightness.
CAUTION
Commissioning can only take
place once it has been assured
that the proper assembly
and electrical installation
correspond to the applicable
provisions of the EC Directives.
NOTE
Complete drainage of the heat
exchanger is only possible
using compressed air.
NOTE
After disconnecting the
switchgear from the power
supply, after a power supply
failure or a fault shutdown, the
control switch must always be
set back to the “0” position in
order to restart the unit.

In normal operation, the units
are almost maintenance-free.
However, in order to guarantee
continuous fault-free operation,
they should be checked at regular
intervals and cleaned when
necessary.
Important precautions prior to
maintenance:
■ The units should be fully
disconnected (all poles) from
the electrical power supply and
secured to prevent unauthorised
reactivation
■ Wait until the fan stops
■ Shut off the water circuit and
safeguard it to prevent it being
opened inadvertently
■ Allow the finned heat
exchanger to cool
Cleaning agents
■ Clean the units dry or with a
moistened cloth and some soap
solution if necessary
■ High pressure cleaners or steam
cleaners shall not be used under
any circumstances
■ Never use abrasive or solvent-
based cleaners
■ Only suitable cleaners may
be used even for heavy
contamination
Care and maintenance
3. Completely drain the
finned heat exchanger and
disconnect the heating medium
connections.
4. Remove any suction or exhaust
accessories that may have been
fitted and remove the unit from
the bracket.
5. Dismantle the rear wall (support
plate) with the fan.
6. Loosen the fastening screws of
the finned heat exchanger and
remove the heat exchanger
towards the intake side.
7. Insert the new heat exchanger
and re-assemble the unit and
accessories in reverse order.
8. Re-establish the electrical
connection.
Checks after
repairs:
■ The fan wheel must rotate
freely in the fan’s housing
■ The distance between the fan
blade and fan housing must be
even
■ The fan motor must rotate in
the direction of the arrow and
be connected in-phase
■ Check that all screw
connections are tight
Cleaning the units
■ Clean all intake openings and
discharge fins
■ Clean the fan blades. If
required, first remove the motor
or the protection grid
■ Clean the heat exchanger fins
by blowing, with suction or
using a smooth brush
■ Clean severe soiling on the fan
and the aluminium fins with
soap solution
Repair
Replacing the fan
1. Disconnect the motor’s electrical
connection.
2. Remove the protection grid
along with the fan from the unit
housing.
3. Remove the protection grid
from the fan motor.
4. Install the new fan carefully in
reverse order.
5. Check that the fan blade moves
freely and that there is space
between it and the fan housing.
6. Re-establish the motor’s
electrical connection properly.
Replacing the finned heat
exchanger
1. Disconnect the unit’s electrical
connection.
2. Shut off the water-side unit
connection.
NOTE
The fan blades and the
aluminium fins shall not be
damaged or bent.
CAUTION
An electrical safety check must
be carried out in accordance
with VDE0701 after any work
on the units.
CAUTION
It is not sufficient to switch off
the unit only via the operating
switch!
NOTE
Repair and maintenance
work may only be carried out
by authorised and qualified
technicians.

Exhaust hood HG 4
This exhaust hood enables a consistent air distribution in four
directions with a low installation height.
The exhaust hood is not suitable for installation heights above 4 m.
■ In case of a later retrofit, the standard horizontal unit air outlet
fins have to be removed
Exhaust louvers B
Vertically individually adjustable air outlet fins for wall and ceiling
discharge.
The exhaust louvers B are mounted directly in front of the
horizontal air exhaust louvers.
The installation of the louvres enables large casting distances.
The unit depth is increased by 115 mm for all unit types.
■ Retrofitting at a later time is no problem at all
Exhaust accessories

Ceiling exhaust nozzle AD
The ceiling exhaust nozzle enables concentrated direction of the
hot air flow and must be used for installation heights over 4 m in
halls with high ceilings.
■ In case of a later retrofit, the standard horizontal unit air outlet
fins have to be removed

Mixed air coffer MLK
The mixed air coffer MLK is
designed for both wall and ceiling
installation.
The ratio of outside air to
recirculating air is infinitely variable
by hand or with a louvre servo
motor (accessory).
With the variable cover, the intake-
side air direction can be freely
selected.
With operation of the mixed air
coffer with louvre servo motor, the
mixed air louvers are to be checked
in regular intervals for ease of
movement and accumulation of
dirt.
Filter coffer FK
The filter coffer with pocket filter
is designed for direct mounting on
the unit.
The removal of the pocket filter
takes place on the side.
The filter medium of the
pocket filter is regenerative and
corresponds to filter class G3.
Additional filter classes are
available on request.
Filter maintenance
Depending on the application
conditions, the pocket filter must
be checked in regular intervals and
cleaned or replaced as necessary.
Automatic monitoring
The amount of dirt accumulation
in the pocket filter can be checked
with a differential pressure switch
(special accessories).
When the final pressure difference
is reached, the filters must be
replaced with new ones of the
same quality class.
Accessory installation
Frost protection thermostat FS
The frost protection thermostat
is a precisely functioning water
temperature probe which can also
be installed at a later time on the
surface of the pipelines.
The thermostat is equipped with a
precision snap switch.
The supplied retaining strap with
clamps enables problem-free
retrofitting without emptying the
heating system.
Installation
Prior to installation, the pipe
insulation around the sensor
installation area must be removed.
The parts required for the
installation, such as retaining strap,
clamp, etc. are included with the
unit.

voltage into an extra low voltage
of 24 V.
The motor is actuated depending
on the input voltage and
the position of the feedback
potentiometer.
The direction of the motor is
reversed with the rotary switch.
The connection of an electrical
display of the louvre position as
well as additional actuators is
possible.
Servo motor KSH
(Open / Close)
The servo is installed directly on
the louvre axis. It is equipped with
a universal terminal block and is
affixed with the supplied anti-twist
device.
The drive is overload-proof and
does not require limit switches.
For manual operation, the gear
unit can be disengaged with a self-
resetting push button.

Injection louver IJ
The injection louver is an
economical extension for your
REMKO PWW unit and is
designed for direct attachment to
the units.
The supply air is optimally blown
in via the injection louvre. The
position of the air-directing fins
influences the air speed and the
exhaust temperature of the overall
air flow in the process.
This technique achieves a greater
casting distance and rapid heating
of the rooms to be heated.
The intake of the already heated
room air means that air layers
of different temperature levels
cannot form. The result is evenly
distributed heat in the room.
Installation
Detach the existing fins by clipping
them out and fix the injection
louver with 4 screws.
The fin position can also be
regulated electrically with an
optional control.
