TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
ISSUE CHECK LIKELY CAUSE CORRECTION
No bubbles at ANY
AirStations. Compressor not
running, but cabinet fan is.
Unplug system. Check compressor
capacitor wiring for frays or poor
connections.
Loose or damages wiring.. Contact Vertex or dealer for instructions.
No capacitor wiring issues can be seen. Bad capacitor. Contact Vertex or dealer for repair/
replacement.
Capacitor has been replaced. Compressor is bad.
No bubbles at ANY
AirStations. Compressor
and cabinet fan both
running.
No air leaks are audible in cabinet.
Compressor running louder and possible
excessive vibration.
Compressor mufer lter is dirty/clogged
or silencer tube in mufer cap is blocked.
Clean or replace lter. NEVER re-install
a wet lter. Remove debris clogging
silencer tube in mufer cap if blocked.
Compressor operating normally or
making unusual noises. Exhibits reduced
pressure/air ow.
Compressor needs piston rebuild kit and
possibly new mufer lter.
Contact Vertex or local dealer with
specications for rebuild kit. Keep
mufer lter clean.
No bubbles some, maybe
all AirStations. Compressor
and cabinet fan are
running.
Check for leaks at all connections in
line and in cabinet. If none are audible,
carefully spray SMALL amount of soapy
water onto connections and look for
bubbles.
Vibration loosened connection, or
cracked tting.
Tighten loose connection or replace
cracked tting as necessary.
No bubbles at some
AirStations, most likely all.
Compressor and cabinet fan
are running.
Obvious air leak from solenoid valve. Bad solenoid valve. Call Vertex or dealer for repair/
replacement.
No bubbles at some,
but not ALL AirStations.
Compressor and cabinet fan
are running.
All valves in cabinet are wide open. Improper "balancing" of AirStations. See "AirStation Balancing" section for
instructions to balance AirStations.
Valves in cabinet are "balanced" and no
leaks are evident.
Compressor is losing compression and
needs piston rebuild kit.
Contact Vertex or dealer with compressor
specications for rebuild kit. Keep
mufer lter clean.
Large rolling bubbles
instead of ne bubbles at
surface above one or more
AirStations.
Inspect each AirStation for malfunction. Diffuser membrane damaged, or
AirStation tting broken.
Call Vertex or dealer for repair/
replacement.
Air coming out of pressure
relief valve.
High pressure reading on gauge. Inspect
AirStations and tubing for clogging.
All valves closed too much. Rebalance air ow to AirStations.
AirStations partially blocked up.
Regular disc exing not performed.
Flex discs 2 times per year to help avoid
clogging.
Low pressure reading on gauge.
AirStations
not clogged.
Bad pressure relief valve. Contact Vertex or local dealer for repair/
replacement.
Compressor stops working
for periods of time, then
restarts.
Inspect fan for proper function. Compressor overheating due to bad fan.
Contact Vertex or local dealer for fan
replacement. Leave top of cabinet open
for cooling if possible, otherwise unplug
system until fan is replaced.
Compressor shakes
erratically and makes load
noises.
Check for low voltage while compressor is
running under load.
Undersized gauge of supply wires
to circuit or cabinet is plugged into
extension cord - voids your warranty.
Voltage must be checked while the
compressor is running at pressure.
If gauge of circuit wiring is incorrect, have
electrician replace. NEVER use extension
cord to operate system.
Clogged mufer or blocked silencer tube
in mufer cap.
Mufer lter needs replacement, or
silencer tube blocked in mufer cap.
Clean or replace lter. NEVER re-install
a wet lter. Remove debris clogging
silencer tube in mufer cap if blocked.
