AlarmNet 8810iR Central Station Receiver
QUICK INSTALLATION GUIDE
GENERAL FEATURES
•Automatic rollover to backup Central Station (CS) in the event of automation equipment failure
•Touch screen Graphical User Interface (GUI) for ease of use
•Supports ADEMCO high-speed and ADEMCO Contact ID message formats
•256-bit AES Key message encryption
•Buffers up to 100 messages

•Supports Serial Printer printers
•Support for uploading/downloading of control panel over IP using the Compass software.
•Two automation modes for received messages:
MANUAL MODE ....................................... Stand-alone operation, received messages are
displayed on the 8810iR screen with an audible alert
(manual acknowledgement required).
AUTOMATION/PRINTER MODE .............. The 8810iR emulates the MX8000 digital receiver
output protocol by using a direct serial interface to
send incoming alarm messages to automation

HOME SCREEN
After the screen is calibrated, the main Home screen appears. This is the primary screen where alarm
signals are reviewed.
1. Alarm History Window
Displays cumulative alarm
history.
2. New Alarm Window
Displays all new alarms.
3. Display Next Button
Acknowledges the alarm
and moves it to the Alarm
History Window.
4. Network Status
Used to indicate network
status. When used in a
Private LAN application
where the 8810iR is not
using a backup 8810iR/Central
Station. Status can say AlarmNet
OK, normal status; AlarmNet
Blocked, AlarmNet is down or
automation is not responding; If
Private LAN Only is selected, then
network status display shows Private
LAN.
5. Setup Button
Used to access all programmable
features.
6. Auto/Manual Override Button
When checked, allows the operator to
quickly select manual mode while in
Automation Mode if Fail to Manual
Mode is programmed.
7. Automation Status
Displays the automation’s connection
status.
8. Silence Alert
Used to silence new alarms
9. Time Display
NOTE: When accessed from the Advanced Setup
screen, it enables an authorized operator to
set the time, date, and time zone.
10. Recovery Mode Status Indicator
Enables the operator to see if the recovery mode is
enabled.
11. System Status
Monitors the network (Ethernet) status.
12. Test Button
Request a test message from AlarmNet.
NOTE: This has no function in an enterprise
application.
13. Current Receiving Mode
Displays current mode: AlarmNet, Enterprise, or
Mixed.
VERIFYING NETWORK SETTINGS
To access the network
settings on the 8810iR
press SETUP >
ADVANCED SETUP >
enter passcode
(default is 8810) >
NETWORK SETUP.

If the network IP address in
shown, running diagnostics may
help isolate the issue. Press Run
Diag.
1. Verifies the Physical Link and
IP Address.
2. If they are present press
review to view the diagnostics
window. If any of the
redirectors (Redir-1, Redir-2,
and Redir-3) fail, then there’s
an issue reaching the outside
connection, which may
require adjusting port setting
properties. If unfamiliar with
the process, contact the local network administrator for assistance.
ADVANCED SETUP SCREEN
1.
Home Button
Returns the user to the
Home page.
2. Brightness
Adjust the display
brightness (contrast).
3. Volume
Adjust the volume
4. Clean Screen
Disables the screen so
the user can clean the
display with a damp
soft cloth. Do not use
any liquids.
5. Advanced Setup
Gains access to the Central Station,
Diagnostics, File System, Network Setup,
Version, and Reset options.
NOTE: Requires the installer code to enter.
6.
View Accounts
Displays accounts registered in Enterprise
only mode.
7. To Homepage After
Returns user to the homepage if no actions
occur during the selected amount of time.
8. Return
Returns user to the previous page.
9. Blank Display After
Acts in the same way a screen saver feature
works on a PC. After the selected time out expires
the screen will go blank until it is pressed.
PROGRAMMING ALARMNET-I ONLY MODE
1. Press SETUP > ADVANCED SETUP > installer code >
CENTRAL STATION > ALARMNET-I
2. Select the SETUP tab
3. Select ALARMNET-I ONLY
8810IR REQUIRED SUBSCRIBER ACCOUNT INFORMATION
1. Press ACCOUNT
2. Enter the required account information.
CITY ID, CENTRAL STATION ID (CS
ID), and Subscriber ID (SUB ID)
(account number for the 8810iR to
register with AlarmNet
NOTES:
•The CITY ID, CENTRAL STATION ID (CS ID),
and SUB ID are provided by AlarmNet
•Contact your AlarmNet account administrator
to acquire these account numbers
PROGRAMMING
Press OPTIONS and enter:
•OLD ALARM TIME is only applicable for power-on reset messages and test messages
•ACCOUNT SUPERVISION sets the AlarmNet supervision period
REGISTRATION
1. Press REG/TEST tab
2. The top right hand box text displays “Not
Registered”. Press PLEASE REGISTER and
the text changes to REGISTERING
3. The same box changes to REGISTRATION
SENT
4. Upon successful registration of the 8810ir:
•REGISTRATION SENT OK status bar
changes to display REGISTERED.
•REGISTERING changes to RE-
REGISTER.
•
SEND TEST ALARM becomes functional.
NOTES:
•IP OFF LINE displays prior to a successful
AlarmNet registration, once registered, the
message will display “IP Connection OK.”
•REGISTRATION TIMED OUT displays when
no network connectivity exists, resulting in an
unsuccessful data transfer.
•BAD SUBSCRIBER ID error indicates the
wrong City, Central, or Account ID are
programmed (or none at all).
•Each communicator MUST contain the
Central Station (Cs) and City ID found in the
account tab.
•The account number is assigned by an
AlarmNet administrator.
5. Press SETUP and verify the status bar
displays REGISTERED, indicating AlarmNet
Registration has successfully completed.
PROGRAMMING PRIVATE
LAN MODE
B
efore attempting to install on a private LAN, complete the following:
•Program 8810iR.
•All communicators installed are programmed with
ALARMNET-I =NO and PRIVATE LAN =Y, with
the same CITY ID and CENTRAL STATION ID
(CS ID) programmed into the 8810iR.
•Ensure all communicator’s being installed have unique
PRIMARY SUBSCRIBER numbers.
•Ensure 8810iR and all communicators have good network
connectivity.
•Verify the 8810iR is at the latest software release.
ENABLING
ENTERPRISE MODE
1. Press ADVANCED SETUP > enter authorized
code > CENTRAL STATION > ALARMNET-I >
SETUP TAB
2. Select PRIVATE LAN ONLY
NOTE: When PRIVATE LAN ONLY is selected, or
deselected, the 8810iR resets after BACK or
HOME is pressed
SUBSCRIBER
INFORMATION
Press ADVANCED SETUP > enter authorized code >
CENTRAL STATION > ALARMNET-I > ACCOUNT
TAB.
•Values for these fields are defined by the Private
LAN administrator
•The same CITY ID and CENTRAL STATION ID (CS
ID) ID information must be entered in all 7845iR-
ENT and/or 7847i-E’s programming
Make sure to record these numbers or the
link between the AlarmNet communicator
and 8810iR will not be established.
For Private LAN configuration, when changing City ID
and/or Central Station ID (Cs ID), clear the database after
making the changes. The
CLEAR DATABASE option is
located under
CENTRAL STATION > CLEAR DATABASE.
NOTES:
•The CITY ID and CENTRAL STATION ID’S (CS ID)
first two digits must be set to zero.
•SUB ID (account number) must be unique for each
communicator reporting to this receiver.
•The last two digits’ range = 00 – FF.
•The SUB IDS range = 0000 – FFFF.
•Secondary 8810iRs are assigned their own account.
PROGRAMMING
1. Press OPTIONS.
2. Enter the OLD ALARM TIME AND
ACCOUNT SUPERVISION types.
IMPORTANT!
For Private LAN only setup: Old Alarm Time and
Account Supervision are not used and can be left at the
default values.

VERIFYING REGISTRATI
ON
1. To verify all communicators were installed correctly,
return to the SETUP SCREEN.
2. Press VIEW ACCOUNTS > enter the AUTHORIZED
CODE using the displayed keypad > DISPLAY (next
to ACTIVE SUBS).
•ACTIVE SUBS: Shows the total number of
subscribers.
•COMM FAILED SUBS: Show the total number of
units with a communications failure (CF).
•SUBSTITUTION SUBS: If an account was
enabled for substitution (on the account detail
page), it displays here. This could be due to a
replacement of an existing communicator
upgrade.
3. To view status/details press ACCT STATUS.
4. The ACCOUNT STATUS window allows the user to
view detailed information on any subscriber.
•DELETE: removes all Subscriber account
information.
•SUBSTITUTE: allows an Installer to substitute
one communicator with a new unit using the same
account number
•ENABLE: allows normal Subscriber operation.
Subscriber commands are grouped and can be
accessed by pressing the COMMANDS button.
NOTE: The COMMANDS screen contains
subscriber configuration commands in
addition to Network services, software
updates and test alarm commands.
5. Touch OK to accept any changes. Otherwise press
CANCEL.
6. To sort account numbers, press ACCOUNT NO.
This feature allows Accounts to be sorted via:
•ACCOUNT NO.: Using the subscriber account.
•TIME HEARD: The last time the communicator
reported to the receiver.
•SUPERVISION RATE: References the supervision
rate programmed in each communicator.
7. Press BACK when complete.
PROGRAMMING MIX MODE (ALARMNET-I AND PRIVATE LAN)
Before using the Mixed Mode, verify the following:
1. Press SETUP > ADVANCED SETUP > enter valid
installer code > CENTRAL STATION > ALARMNET-I >
SETUP TAB.
Select ALARMNET-I AND PRIVATE LAN.
2. Press the ACCOUNT TAB > enter the CITY ID,
CENTRAL STATION (CS) ID, and SUB ID (of the
8810iR)
Register account as normal and thoroughly test each
communicator.
PROGRAMMING
3. Press SETUP > ADVANCED SETUP > enter valid installer code > CENTRAL
STATION > ALARMNET-I > SETUP TAB.
4. Select ALARMNET-I AND PRIVATE LAN.
5. Press the ACCOUNT TAB > enter the CITY ID, CENTRAL STATION (CS) ID,
and SUB ID (of the 8810iR)
6. Register account as normal and thoroughly test each communicator.
RS232 AUTOMATION OUTPUT
8810IR SUMMARY OF CONNECTIONS
1. Access the AlarmNet-I Central Station page (SETUP
> ADVANCED SETUP > enter valid installer code >
CENTRAL STATION > ALARMNET-I).
2. Press AUTO OPT tab.
3. There are two possible configurations for Automation:
MANUAL MODE and AUTOMATION.
Choosing automation formats:
•In MANUAL MODE, the 8810iR functions as a
standalone unit. RX LINE NUMBER and VPN
enable can be selected. However, they will not
affect how the unit operates.
•AUTOMATION mode is used when the 8810iR will
communicate directly with an automation server.
4. Press AUTOMATION BAUD RATE and select the
rate required. This must match the baud rate
programmed in the automation server.
5. Press RX LINE NUMBER to establish which line
identifies this 8810iR.
RS232 PRINTER OUTPUT
1. Press PRINTER tab and select the baud rate
designated in the connected printer.
2. Press HOME and the changes will be automatically
saved and the 8810iR returns to the Home Screen.
NOTE:
Verify the printer’s programmed baud rate and
matches the selection in the 8810iR.
IMPORTANT!
The printer is not supervised and does not
generate any alarms if the printer is out of
paper or disconnected.
AGENCY INFORMATION
Install in accordance with NPFFA70/72
UL1610 Central Station Burglary Alarm
Follow the instructions for UL365 local installations stated above, and follow the
additional guidelines below.
For Systems without Line Security:
•You must use the control panel’s main dialer in conjunction with a secondary
communications device.
•Program the dialer to send Burglary Alarm, Trouble, Opening/Closing, and Low
Battery reports.
For Systems with Encrypted Line Security:
Follow the instructions for Systems without Line Security, but note that only an
iGSMHS may be used as the secondary Communications Device.
Commercial Burglary US:
8810iR must be installed connected to a UL 1981 listed automation service. The
8810iR cannot be used in manual mode; revert to manual mode must be disabled.
Commercial Fire US: Not for proprietary use or Installation.
The product should not be disposed of with other household waste. Check for the
nearest authorized collection centers or authorized recyclers. The correct disposal of
end-of-life equipment will help prevent potential negative consequences for the
environment and human health.
FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION (FCC) & INDUSTRY CANADA (IC) STATEMENTS
The user shall not make any changes or modifications to the equipment unless authorized by the Installation
Instructions or User's Manual. Unauthorized changes or modifications could void the user's authority to operate the
equipment.
CLASS B DIGITAL DEVICE STATEMENT
This equipment has been tested to FCC requirements and has been found acceptable for use. The FCC requires the
following statement for your information:
This equipment generates and uses radio frequency energy and if not installed and used properly, that is, in strict
accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, may cause interference to radio and television reception. It has been
type tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B computing device in accordance with the specifications in
Part 15 of FCC Rules, which are designed to provide reasonable protection against such interference in a residential
installation. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment
does cause interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on,
the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
• If using an indoor antenna, replace it with a quality outdoor antenna.
• Reorient the receiving antenna until interference is reduced or eliminated.
• Move the radio or television receiver away from the receiver/control.
• Move the antenna leads away from any wire runs to the receiver/control.
• Plug the receiver/control into a different outlet so that it and the radio or television receiver are on different branch
circuits.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
