SUSPENSION REQUIREMENTS
⚠ DANGER ⚠
• When installed, tubular radiant heaters must be able to expand, must be level, and must be
restricted from too much lateral sway.
• Heaters should be suspended at a height that has been determined to be most efficient for the
application. Clearances to combustibles must be observed. Refer to the installation manual
provided with the unit for clearances and for recommended mounting heights.
•Although turnbuckles are not included in this hanger kit, the use of turnbuckles for heater suspension is recommended
for convenience in leveling the system. Use either a Reznor turnbuckle kit or field-supplied stainless steel, steel,
or malleable iron turnbuckles.
•Each hanger kit includes 50 feet of chain that must be cut to length and S-hooks. A minimum of 12 inches (305 mm),
the total length of chain, S-hook, and/or turnbuckle, is required between the tubes and the structure suspension
points.
•Each straight tube must have at least one suspension point. The heaters are designed so that the tube suspension
points can be adjusted slightly to adapt to the structure. Straight tubes downstream and adjacent to an L-tube or
U-tube require two suspension points. The installer is responsible for installing the structure suspension points
and for adequately supporting the weight of the heater. Suspension point hardware is field-supplied.
INSTALLATION

• To allow for expansion, the chain length between the suspension point and the heater, including
S-hook(s) and turnbuckle(s) (if used), must be a minimum of 12 inches.
• One chain link consists of two loops. When cutting chain, ensure that the entire two-loop link is
removed.

compliance with all codes and requirements of authorities having jurisdiction.Improper installation,

•Ensure that all components listed in Table 1 are available before beginning installation.

INSTALLATION—CONTINUED
1. Cut chain to determined lengths.
2. At each building suspension point, connect S-hook and chain length. If turnbuckles are used, connect turnbuckle
to S-hook at suspension point or at heater.
NOTE: Refer to the installation manual provided with the unit for instructions on preparing the
burner/control box and combustion chamber for suspension and for instructions on installing
suspension brackets on each reflector/heat exchanger tube assembly and for connecting tubes
using compression coupling. Suspension brackets are provided with the heater.
3. Connect S-hook to burner/control box suspension point and suspend using turnbuckle and/or chain and S-hook,
ensuring that turnbuckle and/or chain is plumb.
4. Connect S-hook to each suspension bracket on reflector/heat exchanger tubes and suspend using turnbuckle
and/or chain and S-hook, ensuring that turnbuckle and/or chain is plumb. Suspension bracket configurations are
shown in Figure 1.

5. Use level to ensure that heater is level and that all turnbuckles and/or chains are plumb. Adjust as necessary.
6. Close all S-hooks using pliers or channel locks. Take care not to affect chain length. If reflectors are being angled,
close S-hooks after reflectors have been angled.
7. Complete heater installation in accordance with installation manual provided.
