DS1000Z Firmware Upgrade Procedure

Solution: The DS1000Z may periodically have firmware upgrades. Here is he
procedure for performing he upgrade.
Important
If you choose o perform an upgrade and your uni is damaged, Rigol is no responsible for he
repair or shipping cos s. The User assumes all responsibili y.
Verify he USB (flash) drive ha can be recognized by a Rigol oscilloscope (e.g. DS1102E) as
follows:
• When he oscilloscope is powered up, inser he USB drive in o he USB (Hos ) por
which is loca ed in he fron of he oscilloscope.
• When i promp s “USB device ins all success”, i indica es he flash drive is recognized by he
scope, as shown in Figure 1.
• O herwise he USB drive is no compa ible wi h he oscilloscope No e 1.

DS1000Z Upgrade Steps
1. Wi h he help of your compu er, decompress he upgrade sof ware (RAR) files and place hem
in he op direc ory of he USB drive.
2. Inser s he flash in o he USB (Hos ) por of he oscilloscope, and i will
• Promp “examine he higher/lower-version sof ware, upgrade or no ?”
• Choose “OK” o ac iva e he au oma ic ins allmen process, as shown in Figure 2.
3. Important
During he ins alla ion process, please do no dis urb or remove he USB drive, and make sure
he power supply is s able; o herwise, i may corrup he firmware and cause he oscilloscope o
be unusable, and require fac ory suppor No e 2.
