Charging Technology Description
Rapid Impulse Phase is a new technology for battery charging. It represents a small
revolution in this field, because the results in practice are fantastic. With this technology,
very fast and very precise charging is possible, because only the electrochemical state
of the battery "dictates" how to charge and what current is used for charging, specific to
and most appropriate for, each battery. Charging with high current is accomplished only
in phases where cells can accept high energy, without warming up or release of gas.
When charging with this technology there is no release of gas from electrolyte, warming
up or sulfation. These processes disintegrates cells of lead-acid batteries, so
extraordinary prolongation of battery life and shortening of charging time is achieved.
Theoretically lead-acid batteries can be charged with 2.5 times higher current than its
default current. This means that for example a 100Ah battery can be charged in less
than half of hour, if we can use a current source of 250A. If the starter battery is empty,
it is possible to start the engine after approximately 5 minutes.
Rapid Impulse Phase charging technology works as a mediator between battery
chemistry and signals that instruct every charge. Each battery is "treated" individually.
Charging Instructions
RIPCHARGE model AP-18 12v battery charger is suitable for charging only 12V
lead-acid batteries from a capacity of min. 40 Ah. there is no maximum limit.
For connection to the battery poles (terminals) use 10mm2 wire for distances upto 1 m,
16mm2 wire for distances to 2m, 25mm2 wire for distances upto 4 m and 35mm2 wire
for longer distances.
●RED to the + connection of the battery.
●BLACK to the - connection of the battery.
● Plug in the charger into the mains 230VAC outlet socket.
● Switch on the main supply switch (POWER) on the side of the charger (small
light must be on).
● Once correct connection is made the YELLOW led indicator will illuminate
● If the battery is very discharged, you may have to press the start/help button
● The GREEN Led indicator will pulse whilst charging
● When the battery is full, GREEN led indicator lights on.

Example of how to connect the battery to the charger
Connection of the remote indicator
Mount the control plate and connect it with coaxial cable as shown in the picture below
Connect main supply to one of the fuses in the distribution block.
The interface for connection of outside indicator is galvanically isolated and does not
cause any effect on the charger.

Charging program
Inside the device there are 3 jumpers. Here you can set the charging program and mode
of operation of the device itself. Disconnect the device from the electrical supply. At the
base of the enclosure you need to unscrew 4 screws and remove the top cover. On the
small circuit board, you will find 3 jumpers. Using the jumpers, you can set the charging
program and the charge mode. The charger has 4 different types of program: deep cycle
batt.l program, program for wet maintenance free battery Ca/Ca, program for AGM battery
and a program for GEL type batteries. The position of the jumpers determine the most
appropriate program for the type of battery to be charged. The jumpers can also be used
to set the charging mode as a cycling charger (typical charging of a depleted battery) or as
standby mode battery buffer (The battery is connected to the charger all the time, and on it
is connected load such as lights, fridge – camper or vessel – boat, sailboat etc.)
