When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed,
including the following:
1. Read all instructions before using.
2. To protect against the risk of electrical shock do not immerse power unit in water or
other liquid.
3. Close supervision is necessary when appliance is used by or near children.
4. Unplug from outlet when not in use, before putting on of taking off parts and
before cleaning.
5. Do not operate appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after appliance malfunc-
tions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Contact Rival®Consumer Service
(see warranty) to return for examination, repair, or electrical or mechanical adjust-
ment.
6. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by Rival®may cause fire, electri-
cal shock or injury.
7. Do not use outdoors.
8. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter.
9. Do not let cord contact hot surface, including stove.
This appliance is for HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY. No user-serviceable parts inside. Do not attempt to
service product. Power unit never needs lubrication.
A short-power-supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from entanglement or trip-
ping ober a longer cord. An extension cord may be used with care; however, the marked electrical
rating should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the waffle maker. The extension cord
should not be allowed to drape over the counter or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children
or tripped over intentionally.
POLARIZED PLUG
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety fea-
ture, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in
the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not
attempt to defeat this safety feature.

HOW TO MAKE WAFFLES
• Plug cord into 120 volt AC outlet. Preheat/Ready Light will turn on.
• Let unit heat until the Preheat/Ready Light turns off.
• Raise top of unit to vertical position and pour approximately 3/4 cup of batter evenly over the
grids. Close unit.
• Waffles are done when steam stops escaping from unit (approximately 5 minutes)
NOTE: Do not lift lid while waffles are steaming. This may cause them to stick or separate.
• For darker, crispier waffles, allow them to bake for 1 or 2 extra minutes.

Belgian Waffle Maker for the first time, wash grids with mild soapy
water. Rinse well and dry.
CONDITIONING THE GRIDS
• To maintain the non-stick surface, lightly oil the grid surface before heating.
NON-STICK COATING
• Use only wooden, plastic or rubber utensils. Metal or sharp utensils will damage the surface.
• A light smoke vapor may occur the first time your Belgian Waffle Maker is plugged in. This is
normal for a new appliance.
CARE AND CLEANING OF YOUR BELGIAN WAFFLE MAKER
• Unplug the unit from wall outlet and allow it to cool.
• Do not use steel wool or other abrasive cleaners not recommended for non-stick surfaces.
• Clean outside of unit and grids with mild soapy water and a soft, damp cloth.
•CAUTION: Do not immerse in water or other liquid.
BELGIAN WAFFLES
2 cups all-purpose flour 2 cups milk
2 teaspoons baking powder 3 eggs, separated
2 Tablespoons confectioners’ sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil pinch of salt
fruit of your choice (optional)
whipped cream (optional)
Combine the flour, baking powder, confectioners' sugar, oil, milk, vanilla and egg yolks. Beat
the egg whites until they stand in soft peaks and fold into the batter (do not over mix). Using
a 4-ounce ladle, pour 3/4 cup of the batter into pre-heated waffle maker and bake for about
5 minutes. Repeat with the remaining batter. Top with fruit and whipped cream if desired
and serve hot.
Makes: 8 waffles.

BUTTERMILK PECAN WAFFLES
2 cups flour 4 eggs
1 Tablespoon baking powder 2 cups buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda 1⁄2cup butter, melted
1⁄2teaspoon salt 3 Tablespoons chopped pecans
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat eggs
until light. Add buttermilk; mix well. Add dry ingredients and beat until smooth. Stir in butter.
Pour about

cup batter onto a lightly greased preheated waffle maker. Sprinkle with a few
pecans. Bake approximately 5 minutes until golden brown.
Makes: 8 waffles
BLUEBERRY BELGIAN WAFFLES
1⁄2cup fresh or frozen blueberries 3 eggs, separated
2 cups flour 1 cup half & half
1 Tablespoon baking powder 1⁄2cup butter, melted
1 Tablespoon sugar 1 Tablespoon vanilla
1⁄2teaspoon salt
In bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Set aside. Separate egg. Beat the yolks,
add half & half, vanilla and butter, and blend. Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients
and combine. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the batter. Fold in the blueberries.
Pour about

golden brown.
