WARNING!
8. PREVENTION OF CAPSIZE
SAILING MULTI-HULLS MAY BE CAPSIZED IF INCORRECTLY HANDLED. THE
FOLLOWING PRECAUTIONS APPLY:
1. THE HELMSMAN MUST AT ALL TIMES BE AWARE THAT THE YACHT COULD
BE VULNERABLE TO CAPSIZE IN ROLL OR PITCH, AND OPERATE THE
YACHT ACCORDINGLY.
2. EVEN IN CALM WATERS, SAIL SHOULD BE REDUCED ABOVE 20 KNOTS OF
WIND ALLOWING FOR GUSTS.
3. APPROPRIATE SAILS SHOULD BE CHOSEN TO SUIT THE PREVAILING WIND
AND SEA CONDITIONS.
4. EXERCISE CARE WHEN ALTERING COURSE FROM A FOLLOWING TO A
BEAM WIND AND IN BREAKING SEAS.
5. IT IS THE OWNER'S / OPERATOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT
MOORING LINES, TOWING LINES, ANCHOR CHAINS AND ANCHORS ARE
ADEQUATE FOR THE VESSEL'S INTENDED USE.
CAUTION:
(a) THE BREAKING STRENGTH OF LINES / CHAINS SHALL NOT EXCEED 80%
OF THE THEORETICAL BREAKING STRENGTH OF THE RESPECTIVE
STRONG POINT.
(b) THE OWNER / OPERATOR SHALL MAKE HIMSELF ACQUAINTED WITH THE
SECURING OF THE TOWLINE ONBOARD ON THE DESIGNATED STRONG
POINTS.
(c) ALWAYS TOW OR BE TOWED AT SLOW SPEED.
(d) WHEN MAKING TOW LINE FAST, AVOID TYING KNOTS OR LOOPS THAT
CANNOT BE RELEASED UNDER LOAD.

2. ALWAYS HAVE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS SERVICED AND AVAILABLE.
3. ENSURE THAT ALL ESCAPE ROUTES ARE ACCESSIBLE.

- Smok whil handling fu l or gas.

11. FIRE FIGHTING
IT IS THE OWNER’S RESPONSIBILITY (OR IF ABSENT, THE PERSON WHO IS
DEPUTISED, SUCH AS THE SKIPPER) TO ENSURE THAT EVERYONE ON BOARD
KNOWS THE LOCATION OF THE FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT AND THAT THE
ESCAPE ROUTES ARE ACCESSIBLE.
IT IS THE OWNER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT THE FIRE FIGHTING
EQUIPMENT IS REGULARLY MAINTAINED AND OPERATIONAL AT ALL TIMES.

12. LIFERAFT STOWAGE

IT IS THE OWNER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT AN ACCREDITED AGENT
OF THE LIFE RAFT MANUFACTURER SERVICES ANY LIFE RAFT WITHIN THE TIME
ALLOWED BY THE MANUFACTURER OR THE NATIONAL AUTHORITY.

13. GAS SYSTEM OPERATION
Th gas cylind rs ar situat d in a s lf-draining lock r on th starboard sid of th
cockpit, n ar th transom walk through. A gas lin links th tanks to th stov and a
sol noid valv shuts of th gas in th lock r as shown in th drawing L38/4.5210/868.
Th “Gas Valv ” br ak r situat d at th DC switch pan l activat s th sol noid. To us
th stov , switch on th br ak r. An orang pilot light will indicat that th syst m is on.
Th pr ssur gaug is to ch ck for l aks and is situat d in th gas lock r.
IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT GAS SYSTEMS ARE A POTENTIAL HAZARD UNLESS
OPERATED PROPERLY.
Th following should b adh r d to:
1. T st th LPG syst m for l akag r gularly. Ch ck all conn ctions for l akag by:
- Obs rving th pr ssur gaug for pr ssur drop with all applianc s valv s
clos d, and cylind r valv op n d, and th n clos d.
- Manual l ak t sting.
- T sting with soapy wat r or d t rg nt solution (with applianc -burn r valv s
clos d and cylind r and syst ms valv s op n).
2. If l akag is pr s nt, clos th cylind r valv and hav th syst m r pair d b for
furth r us . A comp t nt p rson should mak syst m r pairs.
3. CLOSE THE MANUAL VALVES WHEN THE GAS IS NOT IN USE.
4. IN AN EMERGENCY, CLOSE THE MANUAL VALVES ON THE BOTTLES. DO
NOT RELY ON THE SOLENOID VALVE.
5. Mak sur th valv s on th stov ar clos d b for op ning th manual valv s
and th sol noid valv .
6. NEVER USE A FLAME TO FIND A LEAK.
7. Ammonia can corrod copp r. Do not us a solv nt or a liquid containing ammonia
on th copp r pip s or a l ak may occur at a joint.
8. WHEN A GAS APPLIANCE IS IN USE IT BURNS UP OXYGEN AND GIVES OFF
OTHER GASES SUCH AS CARBON MONOXIDE. THERE MUST BE ADEQUATE
VENTILATION WHEN GAS-BURNING APPLIANCES ARE USED.

10. DO NOT STOW ANYTHING ELSE IN THE GAS CYLINDER LOCKER.
11. Propan gas is to b us d and may b us d b tw n – 35 and + 50 C.
12. NEVER LEAVE GAS APPLIANCES IN OPERATION OR GAS CYLINDER
MASTER VALVES OPEN WHEN NO ONE IS ON BOARD.
13. DO NOT SMOKE WHEN CHANGING BOTTLES.
14. GAS CYLINDERS SHOULD BE CHECKED ANNUALLY AND SHOULD BE
CHANGED IF DAMAGED OR CORRODED.
15. THE GAS REGULATOR IS PRE-SET AND SHOULD NOT BE TAMPERED WITH.
A QUALIFIED GAS TECHNICIAN SHOULD CHECK IT ANNUALLY.

14. BILGE PUMP OPERATION.
Th bilg pump syst m is shown on th accompanying drawing L38/4.4800/867.

Th manual pumps ar op rat d from th passag way at th bas of th stairways
alongsid th toil t compartm nts. Th pump handl s ar stow d n xt to th stairways.
Th l ctric bilg pumps ar wir d dir ctly to th hous batt ri s via float switch s and
will op rat wh n v r th r is suffici nt fluid in th sumps. Wh n op rating, a warning
light will com on at th h lmstation and DC pan l.
Th l ctric bilg pumps in th k l sumps may b op rat d from th DC switch pan l, in
which cas th warning lights will not com on.
CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO ENSURE THAT THE BILGES ARE OIL AND FUEL
FREE TO AVOID POLLUTION, AND THAT NO LOOSE MATERIAL IS SUCKED INTO
THE PUMP.

15. TOILET OPERATION

THERE SHALL BE NO DISCHARGE OF WASTE INTO THE SEA WITHIN 12 NAUTICAL
MILES OF THE SHORE.
Th toil t syst m is arrang d so that th toil ts ar pump d into a holding tank.
If th holding tank discharg s acock (position d und r th aft st p of th corridor st ps)
is op n, th tank gravity drains ov rboard. If this valv is clos d, wast is stor d in th
holding tank.
Th holding tank can b mpti d by draining ov rboard (NOT WITHIN 12NM LIMIT) or by
using a docksid pump-out conn ct d to th d ck pump-out wast fitting.
Th capacity of th tank is 70 litr s ach sid . Th flushing is 2 litr s p r flush, which
giv s 35 flush s p r sid . Indicator lights will show on th control board wh n th tank is
full.
Th holding tanks may b flush d. If cl aning is r quir d only us cologically fri ndly
mat rials.
