Installation Instructions
Please read the following instructions carefully before installing
your Rockustics In-Ground Subwoofers. If you have any
questions regarding installation that are not answered in the
following directions, please contact your local systems integra-
tor or the Rockustics Service Department. Contact information
can be found below.
Warning: Rockustic Speakers may be heavy, please use
caution when lifting or handling.
Our manufacturing process leaves an excess of color pigment
on the speaker. This will wash off with the rst rain. Pigment
may be removed from skin and clothing with normal washing,
however, care should be taken with clothing.
Optimizing Speaker Placement for Best Sound
All Rockustics subwoofers can generate a high SPL (sound
pressure level). Please be considerate of your neighbors.
Maximum acoustic performance should be an imporntant
factor in determining subwoofer placement. Here is how to
acheive it:
1) Establish where the most likely or average listening
position will be.
2) The subwoofer should be placed at or close to the same
distance from that point.
3) The actual distance between the listening position and
the location of the subwoofer is not critical. However, keep
in mind that as the distance between listening area and
sunwoofer is increased, there will be a noticeable
decrease in perceived volume.
Optimizing Aesthetics with Speaker Placement
Due to the unidirectional characteristics of subwoofers, the
product can be placed anywhere. Feel free to position it near
other rocks or shrubs, keeping in mind the need to dig a hole
for the subwoofer cylinder.
Other Placement Considerations
When considering subwoofer placement be sure to account
for the wires which will run from the product to your stereo or
audio source. Be sure to keep in mind that walkways and
patios may be difcult to get around.
Cautions
These are high quality outdoor subwoofers. DO NOT place
soil or woodchips over the rock port cover vent holes. If the
vent holes accumulate a build up of soil, it may affect sound
quality. If build-up does occur, remove the rock port cover from
the subwoofer and rinse it with a hose set to a low pressure
level. If debris accumulates on the vent pipe screen, remove it
with a brush or small broom. Never rinse or use a direct water
stream near the vent pipe.
Accumulated soil may also cause insect trafc into the
speaker. Insects may eat through the speaker surround.
Chemical sprays may also cause damage to the rubber of the
speaker surround. This includes bug spray, deck sealant,
some fertilizers and oil based products. Use extreme caution
when applying any types of spray near the subwoofer and
cover port holes when applying treatments.
Maintenance
To insure that your Rockustics subwoofer provides years of
listening enjoyment, we recommend gently rinsing the rock
port cover periodically. Remove the rock port cover from the
unit and use a low pressure stream of water to remove any
accumulated dirt or debris from the port holes. Never rinse the
vent pipe as water will accumulate inside the subwoofer.

1. Unpack subwoofer and rock
cover from the box. Warning:
Subwoofers may be heavy, please
use caution when lifting or
handling.
Notice: packing peanuts are
bio-degradeable and can be used
in compost.
2. Locate speaker wire on the end
of the main subwoofer chamber.
Strip wire ends if necessary.
3. Dig a hole large enough to
accommodate the subwoofer
chamber. IMPORTANT: the port
(pipe) section should extend
about 4” (10.16 mm) above
ground level – it should not be
buried or set at ground level.
Place the subwoofer in the hole
with the port section upright and
level.
4. Connect the speaker wire to
the input signal wire. Red is
positive, black is negative. Use
included wire nuts to secure the
connection. Step 2 is required to
secure the negative connection,
and then the positive connection.
1. 2.
5. Fill in the hole, taking care to
