TheSL‐40passiveinfrareddoorannouncerisaself‐contained,batteryoperated,motiondetector.
Fromthedetectorcomesapleasantsoundingchimeeverytimeapersonentersitsdetectionarea.
Thisstandaloneunitwasdesignedtodetectinfraredenergyemittedbythehumanbodywhenin
motion,anditsperformanceisunaffectedbysunlight,carheadlights,reflections,shadows,or
colors.Itwillalsooperatewithadooropenorclosed.Designedwithstateoftheartelectronic
componentstooperateunderthemostdemandingcircumstances,theSL‐40isidealformonitoring

SL‐40InstallationInstructions

1. TheSL‐40hasthecapabilityofbeingmountedinvariouslocations:ceilings,
abovethedoorjam,andsidemounting.Forbestresultsthisunitshouldbe
positionedontheceiling1footinfromthedoorandpointingdowntowards
thedoorthreshold.AvoidplacingtheSL.40motiondetectornearheatingor
airconditioningducts,directsunlightandkeepatleast3feetawayfrom
florescentlightballast.Thesemaycausefalsesignalsornosignalatallfrom
detector.

2. Open,theSL‐40atthecoin,insertslotontheside.Pullingopenorinsertinga
flattipscrewdriverwillusuallyopenthebox.Removethecover,attach
batterysnapstothe9voltbattery(usealkalinebatteryforlongerlife)and
placethebatteryintobatteryholder.Addcoverbyplacingcoverhookintoslot
first,andpinintohole,thensqueezeclosed.

3. Thisunithasavolumecontrolthumb‐wheellocatednearthecornerofthecircuit
boardwiththewordVOLUMEimprintednearby.Also,youmayselectoneof
twotones,"Ding"or"DingDongbypulingjumpercapoffnear(#ofRings)and
placingittoonesideortheotheroftheprongs,alwaysusingthecenterprong.
Finallythereisasensitivityjumpercapthatcanbeusedtoincreaseor
decreasesensitivityofmotiondetectorlocatednear(Sensitivity)oncircuit
board.

