Easy transportation
High quality portable stereo-output amp
The BA-330 isa portable amp that provides stereo playback from a single unit.
It’s designed for high-quality sound, featuring up to 30W (15W+ 15W) of output, four 6.5 inch (16 cm) speakers and two tweeters.

Thank you, and congratulations on your choice of the Roland BA-330 battery powered stereo portable Amplier.
Before using this unit, carefully read the sections entitled: “ USINGTHEUNIT SAFELY” and “IMPORTANT NOTES” (p.  ; p. 5). These sections provide
important information concerning the proper operation of the unit. Additionally, in order to feel assured that you have gained a good grasp
of every feature provided by your new unit, Owner’s manual should be read in its entirety.The manual should be saved and kept on hand as a

WARNING
Connect mainsplug of this model to a mains socket outlet
with a protective earthing connection.
Do not open (or modify in any way) the unit or its AC
adaptor.
Do not attempt to repair the unit, or replace parts within
it (except when this manual provides specic instructions
directing you to do so). Refer all servicing to your retailer,
the nearest Roland Service Center, or an authorized Roland
distributor, aslisted on the“Information” page.
Never install the unit in any of the following locations.
Subject to temperature extremes(e.g., direct sunlight in
an enclosed vehicle, near a heating duct, on top of heat-
generating equipment); or are
Damp (e.g., baths, washrooms, on wet oors); or are
Exposed to steam or smoke; or are
Subject to salt exposure; or are
Humid; or are

This unit should be used only with a rack or stand that is
recommended by Roland.

WARNING
When using the unit with a rack or stand recommended by
Roland, the rack or stand must be carefully placed so it is
level and sure to remain stable. If not using a rack or stand,
you still need to make sure that any location you choose for
placing the unit providesa level surface that will properly
support the unit, and keep it from wobbling.
Be sure to use only the ACadaptor supplied with the unit.
Also, make sure the line voltage at the installation matches
the input voltage specied on the ACadaptor’s body. Other
ACadaptor’s may use a dierent polarity, or be designed
for a dierent voltage, so their use could result in damage,
malfunction, or electric shock.
Use only the attached power-supply cord. Also, the supplied
power cord must not be used with any other device.
Do not excessively twist or bend the power cord, nor
place heavy objectson it. Doing so can damage the cord,
producing severed elements and short circuits. Damaged
cords are re and shock hazards!
This unit, either alone or in combination with an amplier
and speakers, may be capable of producing sound levels that
could cause permanent hearing loss. Do not operate for a
long period of time at a high volume level, or at a level that is
uncomfortable. If you experience any hearing loss or ringing
in the ears, you should immediately stop using the unit, and
consult an audiologist.

Do not allow any objects (e.g., ammable material, coins,
pins); or liquids of any kind (water, soft drinks, etc.) to
penetrate the unit.
Immediately turn the power o, remove the ACadaptor from
the outlet, and request servicing by your retailer, the nearest
Roland Service Center, or an authorized Roland distributor,
as listed on the“Information” page when:
The ACadaptor, the power-supply cord, or the plug has
been damaged; or
If smoke or unusual odor occurs
Objectshave fallen into, or liquid hasbeen spilled onto
the unit; or
The unit has been exposed to rain (or otherwise has
become wet); or
The unit doesnot appear to operate normally or exhibits
a marked change in performance.
In householdswith small children, an adult should provide
supervision until the child is capable of following all the rules
essential for the safe operation of the unit.
Protect the unit from strong impact.
(Do not drop it!)
Do not force the unit’spower-supply cord to share an outlet
with an unreasonable number of other devices. Be especially
careful when using extension cords—the total power
used by all devices you have connected to the extension
cord’s outlet must never exceed the power rating (watts/
amperes) for the extension cord. Excessive loadscan cause
the insulation on the cord to heat up and eventually melt
through.
Before using the unit in a foreign country, consult with your
retailer, the nearest Roland Service Center, or an authorized
Roland distributor, aslisted on the“Information” page.
Batteriesmust never be recharged, heated, taken apart, or
thrown into re or water.
Never expose alkaline batteriesor nickel-metal hydride
batteries to excessive heat such assunshine, re or the like.

CAUTION
The unit and the ACadaptor should be located so their
location or position doesnot interfere with their proper
ventilation.
This (ST-A95) for use only with Roland stand (or cart) ST-A95.
Use with other stands(or carts) iscapable of resulting in
instability causing possible injury.
Please be sure to read and adhere to the cautionary notices
contained in the instructionsthat came with this product.
Please note that, depending on the manner in which BA-300
performances are carried out, you may encounter situations
where the BA-300 falls o the stand or the stand topples
over, even though you have followed all of the instructions
and advice contained within the product’s manual. For this
reason, you should alwaysperform a safety check each time
you use the stand.
Alwaysgrasp only the plug on the ACadaptor cord when
plugging into, or unplugging from, an outlet or this unit.
At regular intervals, you should unplug the ACadaptor
and clean it by using a dry cloth to wipe all dust and other
accumulationsaway from its prongs. Also, disconnect the
power plug from the power outlet whenever the unit is
to remain unused for an extended period of time. Any
accumulation of dust between the power plug and the power
outlet can result in poor insulation and lead to re.
Try to prevent cordsand cables from becoming entangled.
Also, all cordsand cables should be placed so they are out of
the reach of children.
Never climb on top of, nor place heavy objects on the unit.
Never handle the ACadaptor or itsplugswith wet hands
when plugging into, or unplugging from, an outlet or this
unit.
Before moving the unit, disconnect the ACadaptor and all
cords coming from external devices.
Before cleaning the unit, turn o the power and unplug the
ACadaptor from the outlet (p. 7).
Whenever you suspect the possibility of lightning in your
area, disconnect the ACadaptor from the outlet.

CAUTION
If used improperly, batteries may explode or leak and cause
damage or injury. In the interest of safety, please read and
observe the following precautions(p. 6).
Carefully follow the installation instructionsfor batteries,
and make sure you observe the correct polarity.
Avoid using new batteries together with used ones. In
addition, avoid mixing dierent types of batteries.
Remove the batteries whenever the unit is to remain
unused for an extended period of time.
If a battery has leaked, use a soft piece of cloth or paper
towel to wipe all remnants of the discharge from the
battery compartment.Then install new batteries. To
avoid inammation of the skin, make sure that none
of the battery discharge getsonto your handsor
skin. Exercise the utmost caution so that none of the
discharge getsnear your eyes. Immediately rinse the
aected area with running water if any of the discharge
has entered the eyes.
Never keep batteriestogether with metallic objectssuch
as ballpoint pens, necklaces, hairpins, etc.
Used batteriesmust be disposed of in compliance with
whatever regulations for their safe disposal that may be
observed in the region in which you live.
Should you remove screws, keep them in a safe place out
of children’sreach, so there isno chance of them being
swallowed accidentally.
Do not remove the speaker grille and speaker by any means.
Speaker not user replaceable. Shock hazardousvoltagesand
currents are present inside the enclosure.

Important Notes
Power Supply: Use of Batteries
Do not connect this unit to same electrical outlet that is being used
by an electrical appliance that iscontrolled by an inverter (such
as a refrigerator, washing machine, microwave oven, or air condi-
tioner),or that contains a motor. Depending on the way in which the
electrical appliance isused, power supply noise may cause thisunit
to malfunction or may produce audible noise. If it is not practical to
use a separate electrical outlet, connect a power supply noise lter
between this unit and the electrical outlet.
The ACadaptor will begin to generate heat after long hoursof con-
secutive use. This isnormal, and isnot a cause for concern.
Should you prefer to use batteries, please use the alkaline batteries
or nickel-metal hydride batteries.
When installing or replacing batteries, alwaysturn o the power on
thisunit and disconnect any other devicesyou may have connected.
This way, you can prevent malfunction and/or damage to speakers or
other devices.
Before connecting thisunit to other devices, turn o the power to all
units.This will help prevent malfunctionsand/or damage to speakers
or other devices.
Placement
Using the unit near power ampliers(or other equipment containing
large power transformers) may induce hum.To alleviate the problem,
change the orientation of this unit; or move it farther away from the
source of interference.
This device may interfere with radio and television reception. Do not
use this device in the vicinity of such receivers.
Noise may be produced if wirelesscommunications devices, such as
cell phones, are operated in the vicinity of this unit. Such noise could
occur when receiving or initiating a call, or while conversing. Should
you experience such problems, you should relocate such wireless
devicesso they are at a greater distance from this unit, or switch
them o.
Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight, place it near devicesthat
radiate heat, leave it inside an enclosed vehicle, or otherwise subject
it to temperature extremes. Also, do not allow lighting devices that
normally are used while their light source is very close to the unit
(such asa piano light), or powerful spotlights to shine upon the same
area of the unit for extended periods of time. Excessive heat can
deform or discolor the unit.
When moved from one location to another where the temperature
and/or humidity is very dierent, water droplets (condensation)
may form inside the unit. Damage or malfunction may result if you
attempt to use the unit in this condition.Therefore, before using the
unit, you must allow it to stand for several hours, until the condensa-
tion hascompletely evaporated.
Do not allow rubber, vinyl, or similar materials to remain on the unit
for long periodsof time. Such objectscan discolor or otherwise
harmfully aect the nish.
Do not paste stickers, decals, or the like to this instrument. Peeling
such matter o the instrument may damage the exterior nish.
Depending on the material and temperature of the surface on which
you place the unit, its rubber feet may discolor or mar the surface.
You can place a piece of felt or cloth under the rubber feet to prevent
thisfrom happening. If you do so,please make sure that the unit will
not slip or move accidentally.

Maintenance
To clean the unit, use a dry, soft cloth; or one that is slightly damp-
ened. Rubbing too hard in the same area can damage the nish.
Never use benzine, thinners, alcohol or solvents of any kind, to avoid
the possibility of discoloration and/or deformation.
Additional Precautions
Use a reasonable amount of care when using the unit’sbuttons,
sliders, or other controls; and when using its jacks and connectors.
Rough handling can lead to malfunctions.
When connecting / disconnecting all cables, grasp the connector it-
self—never pull on the cable.This way you will avoid causing shorts,
or damage to the cable’sinternal elements.
To avoid disturbing your neighbors, try to keep the unit’s volume at
reasonable levels (especially when it islate at night).
When you need to transport the unit, package it in the box (includ-
ing padding) that it came in, if possible. Otherwise, you will need to
use equivalent packaging materials.
Some connection cablescontain resistors. Do not use cables that in-
corporate resistorsfor connecting to thisunit.The use of such cables
can cause the sound level to be extremely low,or impossible to hear.

We recommend that you keep batteriesinstalled in the unit even
though you’ll be powering it with the ACadaptor.That way, you’ll be
able to continue a performance even if the cord of the ACadaptor
gets accidentally disconnected from the unit.
To prevent malfunction or speaker damage when installing or
replacing batteries, you must switch o this unit’s power before
connecting it to other equipment.
Do not allow any foreign metal objectsto touch the terminals of
the battery case. Doing so may cause the batteries to short and the
battery case may overheat or catch re.
Regarding the batteries

Use 8 AA alkaline batteriesor AA nickel-metal hydride batteries.
The BA-330 isnot able to recharge nickel-metal hydride batteries.
Batteriesmust be charged using a separately sold, commercially
available charger.

Be aware that if nickel-metal hydride batteries are used, the battery
life-span will decrease ascharging cycles are repeated.
When operating on battery power only, the unit’s indicator (p. 10)
will become blink when battery power getstoo low. Replace the
battery assoon as possible.

Turn on power to your variousdevicesin the order specied. By turning on devices in the wrong order, you risk causing malfunction and/or damage to
speakers and other devices.
To prevent malfunction and/or damage to speakersor other devices, alwaysturn down the volume, and turn o the power on all devices before
making any connections.
This unit is equipped with a protection circuit. A brief interval (afew seconds) after power up is required before the unit will operate normally.
Alwaysmake sure to have the volume level turned down before switching on power. Even with the volume all the way down, you may still hear some
sound when the power isswitched on, but thisis normal, and doesnot indicate a malfunction.

Suppressing feedback
What is feedback?
Feedback occurs when sound that’s being output from a speaker
entersa microphone or pickup and is amplied and output again
from the speaker, producing an unpleasant oscillation (asquealing
or howling noise).
Using the anti-feedback function
What is the anti-feedback function?
This function suppressesthe feedback that can occur between a
guitar or microphone and the amplier. It does so by attenuating
the sound of the frequency at which feedback is occurring.
The BA-330 lets you suppress feedback by using a single switch.
Turn the [ANTI-FEEDBACK] switch “ON.”
The anti-feedback function will be applied to the microphonesor
guitarsconnected to the CH1 and CH2 inputs.
We recommend that you turn the anti-feedback function “ON” be-
fore you begin performing, since thiswill prevent feedback during
your performance.
The anti-feedback function will be optimized each time you
turn on the BA-330’spower.
Howling could be produced depending on the location of
microphones relative to speakers. This can be remedied by:
1. Changing the orientation of the microphone(s).
2. Relocating microphone(s) at a greater distance from
speakers.
3. Lowering volume levels.

Connecting an additional unit to
increase the output (Stereo Link)
By connecting two BA-330 units you can create a stereo PA system
with greater output power (30W + 30W).
This function is called “Stereo Link.”
You can connect Stereo Link in either of the following two ways.
If using the input jacksof only one of the units
Use one cable with a 1/4” phone plug
If you want to use the input jacksof both units
Use two cables having 1/4” phone plugs

set to the same positions, but you can adjust each one as necessary
to suit the needs of a particular setup.

Using a stand
Using the BA-330’s stand
When using the BA-330 on oors, or in other low-lying positions,
then setting up and using the arm stand can make it easier to hear
the sound from the speakers.
Using the arm stand
Turn the BA-330 over and raise the arm stand.
Arm stand
Place the BA-330 on a at and level surface.
CAUTION
When turning the unit upside-down, handle with care to avoid
dropping it, or allowing it to fall or tip over.
When using the arm stand, alwaysbe sure to place it so the BA-330
remainslevel.
When not using the arm stand, fold it up.
Never lift up and carry the BA-330 by holding the folding stand.
Never place any objectson top of the BA-330 when using the arm
stand. Also, never sit or lean on the folding stand.
When folding the folding stand, be careful not to pinch your ngers.

Using a speaker stand (Option: ST-A95)
By using a speaker stand (Option: ST-A95),you can mount the BA-330 at the optimal height for use asa monitor speaker or simple PA device.
Attachment procedure
Alwayshave at least one other person assist you when
mounting the BA-330 on aspeaker stand, or when adjusting the
height of the stand while the BA-330 remainsmounted on it.
Be careful not to pinch your ngers, when you assemble.

The distance between lower ends of the tripod should be 98cm

WARNING
The BA-330 isdesigned to be used in combination with the speaker
stand manufactured by Roland (ST-A95). Please do not use any
other stands.
Before use, adjust the speaker stand to a height of 130 cm (51-3/16”)
or less and a leg spread of 98 cm (38-5/8”) or more, as shown in the
gure below.

When using BA-330 with a speaker stand, the speaker stand must be
carefully placed so it is level and sure to remain stable.
Cablesconnected to BA-330 should be given enough slack to pre-
vent accidents that might result from someone tripping over them.
To prevent accidents due to falls, do not place any object on the
BA-330 when it’smounted on a speaker stand.
