EV-1-WL Connection
Guide (Connect with a Mac)
This guide shows you how to pair the EV-1-WL
wirelessly to the Mac using BLE MIDI.
“Pairing”involves registering the MIDI device that
you want to use (making the devices recognize
each other) with the EV-1-WL.
Pairing the EV-1-WL with another compatible
device lets you control that device via MIDI from
the EV-1-WL.

What is“BLE MIDI”?
“BLE MIDI” is the technology used to transmit and
receive MIDI messages wirelessly via Bluetooth®
LE standard.
This is ocially known as “MIDI over Bluetooth Low
Energy.”

Connecting the EV-1-WL to a
Mac
1. Turn the EV-1-WL and the Mac on.
2. Make sure that the Bluetooth indicator
on the EV-1-WL is blinking blue.
If the indicator is blinking white or is lit up blue,
operate the device as shown below to make the
indicator blink blue.

Quickly press the [Bluetooth] button twice
on the EV-1-WL.
Lit blue
The unit is connected to a dierent device.
Disconnect on the connected device side,
or long-press the [Bluetooth] button on
the EV-1-WL.
3. Press the [Bluetooth] button on the
EV-1-WL.
The unit enters pairing mode, and the Bluetooth
indicator on the EV-1-WL rapidly blinks blue.
4. On your Mac, open Audio MIDI Setup.

5. Select [Open Bluetooth Conguration...]
from the [MIDI Studio] menu.
The [Bluetooth Conguration] screen appears.
* Depending on the version of your Mac, you
need to select [Window] and then [Show MIDI
Studio] from the menu bar at rst.
6. Check that “EV-1-WL”is shown, and click
the [Connect] button.
The Bluetooth indicator on the EV-1-WL stops
blinking and remains lit when pairing is nished.
* If the devices do not pair after one minute has
passed, pairing mode is automatically canceled.
* As Windows may not support BLE MIDI, we
recommend that you connect using a WM-1D
(Roland Wireless MIDI Dongle).
