Thank you
for deciding to use a Ruckeli baby carrier.
At Ruckeli, we prioritise all-round healthy and comfortable
carrying for both, parent and child. Being close to you will
give your child a feeling of warmth and security and enable
freedom of movement in everyday life. Our soft and skin fri-
endly materials will keep you both comfortable.
Your Ruckeli carrier enables you to carry your little one clo-
se to your chest, on your back or even on your hip on the
practical hipseat - Ruckeli’s special feature. The hipseat is
easily assembled by rolling the carrier into its waist pocket.
This way the Ruckeli is not only stored away elegantly but
also ready for action immediately to carry your child on your
hip in comfort.

General tips
Before you start using your Ruckeli carrier, be sure to take
the time to read the instructions and safety tips with care.
Practice putting on the carrier with a cushion rst, so that
you can familiarise yourself with the dierent carries. In front
of a mirror is best. Once you are condent, practice using
the Ruckeli carrier with your baby while standing over a soft
surface or while sitting down. Tip: Babywearing consultants
and some midwives can oer further help.
Safety tips and warnings
Check the carrier’s buckles, straps, buttons and seams re-
gularly to make sure they are in working order. Only use the
carrier if you are physically t and well. If you have problems
with your back, check with your doctor to make sure using
this carrier is appropriate for you. Using a carrier as well as
your baby’s movements aect your sense of balance, so al-
ways move around with care!
Don’t use this carrier under the inuence of medications that
alter your consciousness or drugs such as alcohol!
Don’t let your child play with the straps of this carrier - risk
of strangulation!

as running.

Instructions

Adjusting the width of the seat
For optimal spread-squat-positioning it is possible to adjust
the width of the seat into 3 dierent setting. Open 2 but-
tons at most (!) on each side of the insert to make it narrow
enough for a newborn. Simply fold the loose ends to the
outside. The position of the buttons always stays the same
and never moves. Note: Do not position your baby in the
opening between insert and carrier
Tip 1: Adjust
the seat wide
enough to
reach from
knee to knee
on your child.
approx. 0.-3. month
approx. 3.-6. month
from approx.
the 6. month
9

Smoothly adjusting the carrier to t the size of your
child
Loosen the small straps attached
to the shoulder straps and move
the body extension to the desired
height. This way you can provide
your baby with more freedom
of movement and ability to look
around when you are on the go.
Hint: Take care that babies youn-
ger than 6 months always have a
well supported head.
Tip 2: To make the body of
the carrier longer, pull the
body extension upwards
on the two upper hooks.
To shorten the body, pull
the body extension down
on the two bottom hooks
10

Front carry/crossover
way
3.5kg-12kg (from birth to
approx. 12 months)
1. Close the rst two buckles on the
shoulder straps by connecting the
buckles of the curved ends (10) with
their corresponding buckles (13) on
the waist belt. Adjust the length for
your size (Tip 3).
2. Buckle the carrier
around your waist and
tighten the waist belt.
3. Pick up your child
and put him in the
carrier, then pull the
body of the carrier
upwards.

10

Tip 3: The shoulder
straps attached
to the waist belt
should be loose
enough to allow
you to pull them
over your shoulders
comfortably while
your child is seated
in the carrier. Ho-
wever, they have
to be short enough
to already hold
your child securely
while the straight
shoulder straps are
not yet buckled. If
your child seems
too low, shorten
them slightly.
4. One after the other, place the shoulder
straps over your shoulders while one hand
keeps
hold of
your
child
at all
times.
11

5. Reach behind your back
with your right hand to grab
the straight end (9) of the left
shoulder strap and pull it to
the front. Close the buckle
(12) on the front part of the
carrier. The repeat this step
on the opposite side.
6. Pull the shoulder
strap tight on the
front part of the
carrier.
Tip 4: With smaller babies under 6
months, the tightening of the small
shoulder strap attached to the waist
belt lifts the baby slightly. From about 6
month onwards, loosening these belts
after putting on the carrier helps distri-
bute the baby’s weight onto your waist,
making carrying more comfortable.
7. Check regularly to make sure your
child is positioned centrally and all straps
are comfortably snug (Tip 4/5)
Tip 5: Should the waist belt ride up while
carrying your baby, the shoulder straps
attached to the waist belt are likely too
tight and need loosening slightly.
12

Back carry/parallel way
7kg - 20kg (from around 6
months)
Only start using this carry
once your child can sit up
unaided.
3. Buckle the carrier around your waist.
1. Attach the ends of the small chest strap (19) to one shoulder strap
each.
2. Then close the shoulder strap
buckles by attaching the straight
ends (9) to the waist belt buckles
(13) and the curved ends (10) to
the buckles on the front part of
the carrier (12).

4. Pick up your child and put him
in the carrier, then pull the body of
the carrier upwards. Hug the carrier
around your child’s back and hold it
there.
5. Bring both shoulder
straps together in front of
your child’s head and grab
them with your left hand.
13

6. Pull the carrier onto your right waist using your right
hand.
8. Use your left hand to pull on the waist belt, bringing the carrier onto your back.
7. Push your right hand
between you and your
child, but only through
the front shoulder strap
and again grab both
shoulder straps with your
right hand.
9. Grab the free shoul-
der strap with your left
hand and pull it over your
shoulder.
11. Check regularly to make sure your
child is positioned centrally and all straps
are comfortably snug.
10. Close the chest
strap and tighten the
shoulder straps.
Tip 6: Leaning forwards
slightly makes pushing
your child onto your
back while in the carrier
much more manageable.
Bouncing softly makes
rotating the waist belt,
carrier and child around
your waist much simpler.
14

Rolling up the carrier to t into the waist pocket
1. Buckle the carrier around your waist.
4. Buckle and tighten the waist belt and your carrier is stored perfectly.
3. Now simply roll the body of the carrier down until it disappears into
the waist pocket.
2. Fold the shoulder
straps in half and
place them across
the body of the
carrier.
15

Hip carry
6 - 20kg (from 4 months)
Only start using this carry once your child has good head
control and make sure you are providing you child with all
the support they require.
5. Buckle the carrier to either the right or the
left side of your waist.
6. Tighten the waist belt.
7. Position your child on the carrier which is
now a practical hipseat.
8. Hold your child securely at all times.
16

How the shoulder straps
work
The shoulder straps work
in two ways possible. We
recommend the crossover
method for front carries and
the parallel method for back
carries.
Small chest strap
The small chest strap (19) only comes into
use when the shoulder straps are in paral-
lel use (i.e. during back carries). It is height
adjustable and removable.
Keep the chest belt safe for later use.
To remove the chest strap, slide buckle part
b o part a.
To fasten the small chest strap, slide it onto
its guide rail and rmly clip buckle part b
onto part a again.
Tip 7: To attach the small chest strap, rst grab buckle part a, sli-
de onto guide rail and only then clip part b back onto a.
