IMPORTANT: Follow these steps if the unit is not already congured:
1.SelectCONFIGUREfromthemenuintheSafeScansoftware.1.EnterthetotalnumberofBins(Silos/Buildings/Rows/etc.)tobescanned.
2.SelecttheBinthatyouwishtocongure.
3.EnteranamefortheBin.
4.EnterthenumberofCablesandnumberofTCsforthecablesintheBin. Enterindividually,orenter
rings/rowsofcablesasa“Group”ofcables.FConguration changes must be transferred to the handheld Scanner:
1.PresstheSETUPkeyontheScanner,scrolldowntoselectCONFIGUREthenpressSCAN.“Waiting”willappearonscreen.2.Clickthe“TransferConguration...”buttonontheCongurescreeninthesoftware(seebelow)tostartthetransfer.Note:AllpreviousdataontheScannerwillbeerasedwhenthecongurationischanged.

IMPORTANT:
FAllow the SafeScan Jack Handle to stabilize at the outside ambient
temperature before using (the handheld Scanner doesn’t need to stabilize).
An outside ambient temp of 95⁰F needs 25 minutes to stabilize; 50⁰F
ambient=25 mins.; 32⁰F ambient=35 mins.; 0⁰F ambient=45 mins.
FKeep the SafeScan Jack Handle dry.
Retrieving Data from the SafeScan Scanner:
1.ConnecttheScannertothecomputerusingtheUSB“PCDataCable”.ThersttimethecableisconnectedtothePCtheUSBdriverswillload.2.Todownloaddata,theScannercanbeontheMainscreen(Scanscreen)oritcanbeinDownloadMode:•PresstheSETUPkeyontheScannerthenselectDOWNLOAD.3.Clickthe“RetriveData...”buttonontheMainScreenofthesoftware.4.AlldataintheScannerwillbedownloadedtothePC.Save Data on the PC:
Click“SaveData”tosavethenewtemperatureandOhmsdataonthePC.Note:YoumustdownloadthedatatothePCaftereachscanifyouwishtosavemultiplescanstakenonthesameday(duplicatedataisnotre-saved.)Create and Print a Report:
Click“CreateandPrintReport”tocreateareportofthe7mostrecentscansandOhms.ThereportwilldisplayinNotepad:SelectFILEthenPRINTtoprint.Analyze and Graph Data:
Click“AnalyzeData”todisplaythe7mostrecentreadingsinagraphandacolor-codedtable.Click“DisplayOhms”toshowtheOhmsforthatcable.SafeScan PC Software: InstallonthePCusingtheprovidedCD.TheSafeScanPCsoftwareprovidesaneasywayto:•ConguretheSafeScanhandheldScanner.•DownloadtemperaturedatafromtheSafeScanhandheldScanner.•PermanentlyarchivealltemperatureandOhmsdata.•Graphthetemperaturesanddisplayatablewithcolor-codedalarms.•Createandprintreports.Scanner Operation
POWER:PressandholdthePowerbuttontoturntheunitonoro.Thedisplaywilldimafter30secondsofnon-use.Pressinganykeywillbrightenthedisplay.Theunitwillautomaticallyturnoafter1minuteofnon-use.Themostrecenttemperaturedatawilldisplay
whentheunitisturnedonorwhentheBin/Cable ischanged.TheDateandTimewillbehighlighted
yellowifthedataisold(nottoday’sdata).SCAN:

3.PressSCANtostartthescan.Thescandataisautomaticallysaved.Note:SafeScanwillonlysaveonesetoftemperaturedatapercableeachday.Ifyouperformanotherscanonthesamedaythenthepreviousdatafromthatdaywillbeoverwrittenandlost.YoumustdownloadthedatatoaPCaftereachscanifyouwishtosavemultiplescanstakenonthesameday.RECALL:
PresstheRECALLbuttontostepbackthroughthethe7mostrecentscans.
TheDateandTimewillbehighlight yellowifthedataisold(nottoday’s).SETUP:PressSETUPtoopentheSetupmenu:Toselectanitemscrolldowntoit(usingthearrowkeys)thenclickSCAN.•Download:
