The manufacturer has re-submitted the Hobbit Stove for testing to Eco-design and
energy labelling requirements. The stove is now to be marketed as the Salamander
Hobbit SE eco stove, replacing the originally named Hobbit Stove appliance.
Modifications to the air supplies to better the emissions from the stove have been carried
out with success (see manufactures modifications –MS 7/18).
Kiwa Gastec has undertaken performance tests at nominal heat output burning wood
logs and smokeless mineral fuel. Concurrent to these tests, determinations were made
of the emissions of total hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and particulates (Austrian and
German particle test methods) according to the Technical Specification in DD CEN/TS
15883:2009. These measurements were carried out in accordance with the
requirements of the DIN Plus Certification Scheme and according to the test procedures
likely to be used when the Eco-design and Energy Labelling Requirements come into
force for solid fuel roomheaters.
Results are reported herein and replace the original performance test results (burning
wood logs and mineral solid fuel) stated in Kiwa report number 6515.
