Instruction Manual 5.8GHz Transmitter & Receiver - weatherproof
Connections - general:
- Transmitter and receiver are pre-set on one channel. The sticker on the transmitter
casing contains the pre-set transmission channel, at the receiver the set channel is indicated by the
channel selection switch (description below).
Both the transmitter and receiver are connected to via the strip terminal inside the weatherproof casing.
The allocation of strip terminal is described inside the casing.
The weatherproof casing must be mounted in such way that the three M-ducts (cable-glands) will be
facing downwards – Note that the right hand side M-duct / gland is reserved for the omni-directional
antenna or antenna cable for external antenna connection. The remaining two M-ducts / glands are free
to be used for other cable feeds as required.
Power Supply:
You should only use a regulated power supply with an output voltage of 12 VDC.
The power consumption of the individual components are:
Transmitter approx. 200mA,
Receiver approx. 320mA
Important: Before switching on the power supply ensure that you first connect the power supply and
antenna to the Sales Mark unit. Only then switch on the power supply.
Channel selection receiver:
The rotary switch is situated left in the centre of the receiver printed circuit board.
Channel 1 – 9 as per number display, A – F is equal to 10 – 15
Channel selection transmitter:
To operate the internally mounted rotary switch the upper cover of the transmitter must be removed. The
rotary switch is behind the 4-pole panel mounted connector. The
selection is the same as per receiver channel selector.

Transmitter Antenna Connection:
At the transmitter’s antenna connection (SMA-female) on the right bottom of the transmitter
weatherproof housing the best emission and hence optimal coverage is achieved, if the omni-directional
antenna is at least 20 cm away from any other objects.
The transmitter may only be operated with a connected antenna. As standard the omni-directional
antenna (50 Ohm, 0 dB) will be used.
Sun Shielding:
In case of permanent solar radiation the casing should not exceed impact of + 50 ° C.
In case of higher temperatures, you must install a sun reflector or a sunroof above the
weatherproof casing.
Transmitter Antennas:
The omni-directional antenna directly mounts to the SMA-female connector of the transmitter and
extends externally via the cable-gland directly below into an externally extending plastic tube. Refer
photo.

If the transmitter is to be operated using a directional antenna, the use of the
planar antenna ANPLA/14/5802 is permissible, with cable ANKA/0.5/SMA and the use of DG/10/5802
10dB attenuator is mandatory. The attenuator DG/10/5802 has to be installed at the transmitter’s antenna
connector (to be soldered to the antenna cable), to ensure the maximum 25mW EIRP radiated power is
not exceeded. Refer above photo.
The above-mentioned planar antenna has a horizontal beam width of 40°. To warrant an optimal range
the antenna has to be directed exactly at the receiver antenna. The antenna is vertically orientated, - the
SMA connector must point downwards. Transmitter and receiver have to have the same polarization at
all times.
Receiver Antennas:
Apart from using omni-directional and planar antennas, the receiver can also be operated using a 60cm
dish antenna with 7° beam width. On the upper side of the antenna of the parabolic mirror (PVC pipe in
the centre of the antenna) are two arrows with the labeling “vertical polarisation” and “horizontal
polarization”. The corresponding polarisation is correct if the corresponding arrow is in upward

direction. The antenna is assembled as follows: The four threaded rods of the PVC pipe (antenna) are
inserted from the front through the four holes in the dish, whereby the selection of holes is up to the
user.
Following this the dish antenna has to be held in such a way that the arrow “vertical polarization” is
directed upwards. Now assemble the mast support from behind onto the four threaded rods of the PVC
pipe. Please take extra care that the dish antenna is mounted to the vertical mast using the included mast
clamps. To use the dish antenna with horizontal polarisation on a vertical mast the mast support has to
be assembled with a 90° turn. The dish antenna to the receiver connection is made using the antenna
cable ANKA/1,5/N/SMA. The antenna connection is in the centre of the rear of the dish antenna. It is an
N-female.
The planar antenna ANPLA/23/5802 can also be used as a receiver antenna. This antenna has a gain of
23 dBi and a horizontal beam width of 10.5 °. The ANPLA/23/5802 is vertically polarized, if the arrow
on the rear of the antenna points in an upward direction. This antenna can also be operated at horizontal
polarization. The arrow on the rear has to be pointing left or right. The antenna connection is in the
centre on the rear of the antenna. It is an N-connector.
Multi-System Operation:
It may be possible to parallel operate eight channels, if the signal strength of each system is about the
same level and directional antennas are used for all receivers and transmitters. For parallel
operation you must skip channels i.e. the systems will use the channels 1, 3, 5, 7,
9, 11, 13 and 15.
In this case the transmitter will always be operated using ANPLA/14/5802 ,
ANKA/0.5/SMA and the attenuator DG/10/5802 (10 dB).
A meaningful distribution of the channels in an open space area e.g. from left to right
1, 5, 15, 11, 3, 7, 13 and 9 will give the best results. The polarization of the transmitter and receiver
antennae should change from channel to channel from horizontal to vertical (1v, 3h, 5v ....).
- You should try and avoid surface icing of the active side of the antennae, since this may lead to an
impairment of the performance of the transmitter and receiver antennae and hence of the entire system.
The range and coverage of this video transmission systems is dependent on topographical and building
characteristics. The information in the product introduction does refer to visual connections in open
space areas.

Input & Output Signals:
The following levels and impedances are relevant for transmitter and receiver:
Transmitter: Video in 1 Vpk-pk / 75 Ohm, Audio in 0.5 Vpk-pk / 680 Ohm.
Receiver: Video out 1 Vpk-pk / 75 Ohm, Audio out 0.4 Vpk-pk / 10 KOhm.
Frequency Range:
The frequency range used is the 5725 – 5875MHz ISM band, which has been generally approved for the
use of broadcasting systems with performance as per Australian Radiocommunications Low
Interference Potential Devices (LIPD) Class License 2000 – Jan08.
Disclaimer:
Note 1 A LIPD will not be afforded protection from interference caused by other radiocommunications
devices. A LIPD operated under this Class License is generally not expected to suffer interference.
However, an individual low interference potential device may experience, from other
radiocommunications devices, interference arising from the particular circumstances of the device’s
operation.

Note 2 In accordance with the requirements of footnote AUS 32 and footnote 150 to the
Table of Allocations in the Australian Radiofrequency Spectrum Plan, a low interference
potential device will not be afforded protection from interference that may be caused by
ISM applications in the ISM bands 13.553 MHz – 13.567 MHz, 26.957 MHz – 27.283
MHz, 40.66 MHz – 40.70 MHz, 918 MHz – 926 MHz, 2 400 MHz – 2 500 MHz, 5 725
MHz – 5 875 MHz and 24 000 MHz – 24 250 MHz.

interference.
It can also be excluded that there will be faults occurring between participants.
During operation of the system please adhere to the local valid regulations and standards for the
protection of third parties. To avoid bodily harm, the transmitter should not be operated directly from the
body of a person or animal or in its immediate vicinity. Please keep a distance of some several metres.
For a faultless operation we recommend the installation of transmitter and
receiver above and away from moving objects within the broadcasting range.
