IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always
be followed including the following:
1. Read all instructions.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. To protect against electrical hazards, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the
appliance in water or other liquid.
4.
Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool
before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the
appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return
appliance to Salton for examination, repair or adjustment. See Warranty.
7. The use of accessories or attachments not recommended by Salton may
cause hazards.
8. Do not use outdoors.
9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
11. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing
hot liquids.
12. Prior to connecting or disconnecting plug from wall outlet, turn any
control to "off".
13. This appliance is for Household Use Only. Do not use appliance for other
than its intended use.
14. The Carafe is designed for use with this appliance. It must never be used
on a range top.
15. Do not clean Carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads or other abrasive
material.

POLARIZED PLUG
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other).To reduce
the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way.
If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not
fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.

BEFORE FIRST USE
Wash the Carafe, Lid and Filter Basket in warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly
and dry. Wipe the base of the unit with a soft damp cloth. Do not immerse
Coffee Maker in water or any other liquid.
Prior to brewing coffee for the first time run the Coffee Maker with water
only. Follow the directions in the HOW TO USE section omitting the coffee
and coffee filter.

HOW TO USE
1. Plug into a 120 Volt AC outlet.
2. Swing the Filter Basket Holder outward to the left. Place a #4 cone-shaped
paper filter, a permanent filter (SwissGold model KF-4 or a Jasi Goldtone
model KF-4T) in the Filter Basket. Fill the coffee filter with the desired
amount of ground coffee.
NOTE: Use coffee ground specifically for automatic drip coffee makers.
3. Close the Filter Basket Holder and snap into place. NOTE: If the door does
not close completely, check to see that the Filter Basket is properly seated
in the Filter Holder then snap the door into place.
4. Pour cold water into the Water Reservoir between the 4 cup mark
and 8 cup MAX mark on the Water Level Window. IMPORTANT: Do not
fill the Water Reservoir beyond the MAX level in the Water Level Window
or water will leak out the opening in back designed to prevent overfilling.
5. Place the Carafe with Lid on the Bottom Plate. NOTE: The Lid must be
screwed in place on the Carafe.
6. If you want to brew coffee immediately, press the ‘Start/Stop’ button
TWICE and the green ‘On’ Indicator Light will illuminate indicating that
the brewing cycle has started. (To use ‘Timed Brew’ follow the directions
in the section "Delayed Brew Cycle")
7. In a few minutes the coffee will be brewed. NOTE: The green indicator
light will go out after 15 minutes. If you wish to turn off the Coffee
Maker before the automatic shut off press the Start/Stop Button once.
8. The lid must be partially unscrewed to pour coffee and retightened to
maintain coffee temperature.

DELAYED BREW CYCLE
1. Plug Coffee Maker into a 120 Volt AC outlet.
2. Set the clock to the correct hour by pressing the Hour Advance Button
until the desired hour is reached. (NOTE: There is an AM and PM indicator
on the left side of the digital read out.) Set the minutes by pressing the
Minute Advance Button until the desired minutes are reached.
3. Swing the Filter Basket Holder outward to the left. Place a #4 cone-
shaped paper filter or permanent filter (SwissGold model KF-4 or a Jasi
Goldtone model KF-4T) in the Filter Basket. Fill the coffee filter with the
desired amount of ground coffee. NOTE: Use coffee ground specifically for
automatic drip coffee makers.
4. Close the Filter Basket Holder and snap into place. NOTE: If the door does
not close completely, check to see that the Filter Basket is properly seated
in the Filter Holder then snap the door into place.
5. Pour cold water into the Water Reservoir between the 4 cup mark and
the 8 cup MAX mark on the Water Level Window. NOTE: Do not overfill.
6. Place the Carafe on the Bottom Plate. NOTE: The Lid must be screwed
in place on the Carafe.
7. To set the brewing time, press and hold the Brew Button and at the same
time press the Hour Advance Button until the desired hour is reached.
While continuing to hold the Brew Button press the Minute Advance
Button until the desired minutes are reached. Once you have reached the
selected brew time, release the Brew Button.
8. Press the Start/Stop Button ONCE and the red ‘Auto’ light will illuminate
indicating that the Coffee Maker is now waiting for the preset brew time
to be reached before starting the brewing cycle.
9. Once the preset time has been reached the brewing cycle will start.
NOTE: The green indicator light will remain on for 15 minutes after the
brewing cycle is complete. If you wish to turn off the Coffee Maker before
the automatic shut off, press the Start/Stop Button once.
10. The Lid must be partially unscrewed to pour coffee and retightened to
maintain coffee temperature.
NOTE: Unplugging the unit will reset the clock to 12:00.

‘PAUSE & SERVE’ FEATURE
The ‘Pause & Serve’ feature allows you to pour a cup of coffee before the
brew cycle has finished. Remove the Carafe slowly to temporarily stop the
flow of coffee. Partially unscrew Lid and quickly pour a cup of coffee.
Retighten the Lid and reposition the Carafe securely on the Bottom Plate.
NOTE: Do not remove the Carafe for longer than 30 seconds.
CARE AND CLEANING
1. Unplug unit and let cool before cleaning.
2. Remove the Filter Basket from the Filter Basket Holder.
3. The Filter Basket Holder can be removed by opening completely, placing
your right hand on top of the Coffee Maker to hold steady and use your
left hand to grasp the Filter Basket Holder underneath the hinged area,
lift up and pull towards you.
4. Wash the Filter Basket, Filter Basket Holder and the Carafe and Lid in
warm soapy water. Rinse and dry.
5. Wipe the Housing and Bottom Plate with a soft damp cloth. NEVER
IMMERSE THE MAIN HOUSING IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID.
6. DO NOT clean the inside of the Water Reservoir with a cloth as this will
leave a residue of lint and may clog the Coffee Maker. Rinse with cold
water periodically.
7. Replace the Filter Basket Holder by inserting the longer top pin into the
top hinge. While pressing the Filter Basket Holder upwards slightly, fit the
bottom pin into the bottom hinge. Close Filter Basket Holder and snap
into position.

Descaling
Over a period of time, minerals and calcium found in water will accumulate
in your Coffee Maker and may affect its operation. The appliance should be
cleaned approximately every six months, depending on water conditions.
Use distilled vinegar in the following manner to remove the mineral deposits.
1. Fill the Carafe with equal parts of white vinegar and cold water.
2. Open the Lid of the Water Reservoir and pour in the vinegar/water solution.
Close the Lid.
3. Snap the Filter Basket and Filter Basket Holder into position.
4. Place the Carafe with Lid on the Bottom Plate.
5. Press the Start/Stop Button twice and the Coffee Maker will start.
6. Let the whole quantity of the vinegar/water solution run through
the machine, then turn the Coffee Maker off by pressing the Start/Stop
button once.
7. Repeat the above steps using cold water to rinse away any residual
vinegar. Repeat twice.

A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming entangled
in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised
in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the
detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as
the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded type,
the extension cord should be of the grounding-type 3-wire cord. The extension
cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table
top, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
LIMITED WARRANTY
Salton Canada warrants that this appliance shall be free from defects in
material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of
purchase. During this ‘in-warranty’ period, defective products will be repaired
or replaced at the discretion of the retailer and/or Salton Canada. A defective
product should be returned to the original place of purchase within the
retailer’s stipulated return/exchange period*. If you do not wish or are unable
to have a defective product replaced under warranty by the retailer, Salton
Canada will repair or replace the defective product without charge. You may
contact us for assistance by mail, e-mail, fax or telephone as listed below.
This warranty covers normal domestic usage and does not cover damage
which occurs in shipment or failure which results from alteration, accident,
misuse, abuse, glass breakage, neglect, commercial use or improper
maintenance.
To ensure prompt ‘in-warranty’ service be sure you have an original proof
of purchase. You may be asked to return the product to us along with a
description of the defect and your address, zip/postal code.
For repairs not covered by the warranty, please contact us for assistance.
