Congratulations on purchasing your Salton 12kg Ice Maker. Each unit is manufactured to ensure
safety and reliability. Before using this appliance for the first time, please read the instruction manual
carefully and keep it for future reference.

In order to avoid damage to this appliance or injury to the user, the following list of basic safety
measures should always be adhered to. If the user fails to comply with these measures the warranty
will become invalid and the supplier cannot be held responsible.
1. Read through the instruction manual and keep it for future reference.
2. Remove all packing material and carefully check your ice maker to ensure it is in good condition
and that there is no damage to the ice maker or power cord and plug.
3. The use of an extension cord with this appliance is not recommended. However, if it is necessary
to use an extension cord, ensure that the cord is suited to the power consumption of the appliance
to avoid overheating of the extension cord, appliance or plug point.
-Do not place the extension cord in a position where it can be pulled on by children or animals or
tripped over.
4. Do not locate multiple portable socket-outlets or portable power supplies at the rear of the
appliance.
5. If the power cord is damaged; it must be replaced by the manufacturer and its qualified service
agents.
6. Before using the ice maker for the first time, please wait 2 hours after positioning it, and keep the
lid open for at least 2 hours.
7. Pure water is not allowed to be used on this unit; spring water is recommended.
8. Always ensure that the voltage on the rating label corresponds to the mains voltage in your home.
9. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a
qualified person to avoid any hazard.
10.Do not tilt your appliance more than 45° during transportation or relocation.
11.To protect against risk of electric shock, do not pour water on the cord, plug and air vents.
12.Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
13.Unplug the appliance after using or before cleaning.
14.Keep the appliance 15cm away from other objects to ensure good ventilation.
15.The use of accessory attachments that are not recommended by the manufacturer may result in
injury, fire/electric shock or may damage the ice maker.
16.Your close supervision is required when the appliance is used by children or people with reduced
physical, sensory and mental capabilities.
17.Children should not play with the ice maker.
18.Your ice maker should be kept away from heat sources such as electric ovens, heaters, stoves
and should not be kept under direct sunlight.
19.Do not switch the power button between on and off positions within 5 minutes. This is important to
protect the compressor.
20.To avoid fire and short circuit, metal sheets or other electric objects are not allowed to be inserted
into the appliance.
21.Warning: Do not store explosive substances such as aerosol cans with a flammable propellant in
this appliance.
22.The refrigerant and insulation blowing gas are flammable when disposing the appliance, do so
only at an authorised waste disposal center.
23. Warning;this symbol indicates the refrigerant R600a and the non-metallic materials of the
appliance are flammable. Do not expose to flames.
24.Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.
25.In case of technical problems, switch off the machine and do not attempt to repair it yourself.
Return the appliance to an authorised service facility for examination, adjustment or repair. Always
insist on the use of original spare parts.
Failure to comply with the above-mentioned pre-cautions and instructions, could affect the
safe operation of this machine.

HOW TO OPERATE YOUR ICE MAKER
NOTE: Water reservoir and pipeline should be well cleaned before use.
1. Open the lid and take out the ice basket.
2. Add water to the reservoir.
3. Note: There is a maximum scale (MAX) in the reservoir. The water should not exceed the
MAX level. If the water exceeds the maximum level (MAX), you need to open the bottom drain
plug and release the excess water.
4. Plug the machine in and press the POWER button to start the machine.
5. When the ice basket is full, please take out the ice immediately, do not allow the ice to
overflow.
CONTROL PANEL
1. ICE FULL: Ice full indicator

3. ICE MAKING: Ice making indicator
1. The indicator light-POWER will flash after ice machine has been plugged in, press POWER
and the machine will start making ice automatically. The ice making indicator light will always
be on during operation.
2. When the “ADD WATER” light is on, it means that there is a water shortage in the water tank. -
-You need to add water and press the POWER button to restart the machine.
3. When the ice reaches the max storage capacity, the indicator light of the ICE FULL button will
light up and the machine will stop operating.
-Please empty the ice from the ice basket and add water if required and restart your ice
making process.
4. -If the level of ice is lower than the position of ice basket full sensor, the machine will restart
automatically.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

•When cleaning, unplug the unit and remove the ice cubes. Use a diluted solution of water and
vinegar to clean the inside and the outside surface of the Ice maker.
•Clean the inside of the ice machine, including the; water reservoir, ice basket, evaporator and
water / ice shovel tray frequently.
•Do not spray the Ice maker with chemicals or diluted agents such as acids, gasoline or oil.
•Do not immerse in water.
•Should you not use the unit for a long period there may be an air block which will not allow the
pump to operate and the ADD WATER light will flash continuously.
-Ensure there is enough water in the unit and press the POWER button again - the machine
will enter normal state.
•To ensure ice is clean, please change water in water reservoir everyday. If you are not using
the machine for a long period of time, please drain the water out and clean the unit thoroughly.
•Should the compressor stop working due to lack of water or a power supply interruption, turn
the unit off for 3 minutes before switching it back on.
•Always use fresh water when using the appliance.
STORING THE APPLIANCE
•Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and clean all the parts as instructed above. Ensure that all
parts are dry before storing.
•Store the appliance in its box or in a clean, dry place.
•Never store the appliance while it is still wet or dirty.
•Never wrap the power cord around the appliance.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING
•It is normal for the compressor and condenser surface to reach temperatures between 70°C
and 90°C during operation and surrounding areas may be very hot.
•Due to fast freezing, ice cubes may appear “Cloudy”. This is air trapped in the water and will
not affect quality or taste of ice.
•If a power failure occurs due to disconnection of the power cord, or the power button has been
turned off during an ice making cycle, small ice chips may have formed and lodge in the
automatic shovel causing it to jam.
-If this occurs, the ice chips may be removed by disconnecting the power cord and gently
pushing the shovel to the rear of the cabinet and removing the ice chips, then restart.
SERVICING THE APPLIANCE
There are no user serviceable parts in this appliance. If the unit is not operating correctly, please
check the following:

-You have followed the instructions correctly
-That the unit has been wired correctly and that the wall socket is switched on.
-That the mains power supply is ON.
-That the plug is firmly in the mains socket.
If the appliance still does not work after checking the above:
Consult the retailer for possible repair or replacement. If the retailer fails to resolve the problem and
you need to return the appliance, make sure that:
-The unit is packed carefully back into its original packaging.
-Proof of purchase is attached.
-A reason is provided for why it is being returned.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised service agent
to avoid any hazard. If service becomes necessary within the warranty period, the appliance should
be returned to an approved Home of Living Brands (Pty) Ltd service center. Servicing outside the
warranty period is still available, but will, however, be chargeable.
CHANGING THE PLUG
Should the need arise to change the fitted plug, follow the instructions below.
This unit is designed to operate on the stated current only. Connecting to other power
sources may damage the appliance.

1. Home of Living Brands (Pty) Limited ("Home of Living Brands") warrants to the original purchaser of this
product ("the customer") that this product will be free of defects in quality and workmanship which under
normal personal, family or household use and purpose may manifest within a period of 1 (one) year
from the date of purchase ("warranty period").
2. Where the customer has purchased a product and it breaks, is defective or does not work properly for
the intended purpose, the customer must notify the supplier from whom the customer bought the
product ("the supplier") thereof within the warranty period or if applicable, the extended warranty period.
Any claim in terms of this warranty must be supported by a proof of purchase. If proof of purchase is
not available, then repair, and/or service charges may be payable by the customer to the supplier.
3. The faulty product must be taken to the supplier's service centre to exercise the warranty.
4. The supplier will refund, repair or exchange the product in terms of this warranty subject to legislative
requirements. This warranty shall be valid only where (a) the customer is not the cause of the product
breaking, and (b) the product has been used for the intended purpose stipulated in the product manual.
The warranty does not include and will not be construed to cover products damaged as a result of
disaster, misuse, tamper, abuse or any unauthorised modification or repair of the product.
5. This warranty will extend only to the product provided at the date of the purchase and not to any
expendables attached or installed by the customer. In this regard any accessories supplied with the
product by the supplier, may be excluded in this warranty or extended warranty (see Exclusions to
Warranty and Extended Warranty document).
6. If the customer requests that the supplier repairs the product and the product breaks or fails to work
properly within 3 (three) months of the repair and not as a result of misuse, tampering or modification
by or on behalf of the customer, then the supplier may replace the product or pay a refund to the
customer, subject to the supplier’s discretion.
7. The customer may be responsible for certain costs where products returned are not in the original
packaging, or if the packaging is damaged. This will be deducted from any refund paid to the customer.

1. Any accessories supplied with the product, including but not limited to, bowls, jugs, mills or carafes
made either of glass or plastic and supplied with this appliance (hereinafter referred to as “the
accessory or accessories”), is warranted to be free from material and workmanship defects for the
duration of the appliance warranty.
2. The accessories should give trouble free service when used in accordance with the directions
described in the instruction manual. However, the accessories will be damaged if subjected to impact,
and this damage is not covered by the warranty. Such impact damage can occur either from the outside
(if for example it is dropped or knocked against a hard surface), or from within (if for example foreign
objects are placed within the accessories and the power is switched on).
3. Should you need to replace an accessory during the warranty period; a claim for a free replacement will
only be considered if the item (including all shards and broken parts) is returned to the nearest HOLB
service centre for examination.
4. The remains of the accessory will be carefully examined by the relevant professionals and if it is
determined (at the sole discretion of HOLB) that the damage was caused by impact, then the claim will
be refused and will not be covered by the warranty or any extended warranty.
5. Any replacement part provided in terms of clause 4 above will become a chargeable item payable by
the customer.
The packaging material used is recyclable; we recommend that you separate plastic,
paper and cardboard and give them to recycling companies.
According to the Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive, WEEE should be separately
collected and treated. If at any time you need to dispose of this product, please do NOT dispose of this product
with household waste. Please send this product to WEEE collecting points where available.
