Save the Original Box and Packaging
The original box should always be used if it is necessary to ship the machine back to the manufacturer.
Master Sports is not liable for damage caused by improper packaging on return shipments. New box
fees will apply to all machines returned with non-original boxes and/or packaging.
Storage
Store the machine in a clean, dry location. Extreme temperatures and other conditions can affect the
machine’s electronic board. Never store the machine outside. Exposure to rain and snow will shorten the
life of the machine.
Important Safety Information
The SAM™ ball machine is specifically designed to throw tennis balls at a high rate of speed. To avoid
any bodily harm, please observe the following precautions at all times:
WARNING: Do not reach or look into the ball exit hole without first turning the main power off and
only after the wheels come to a complete stop.
WARNING:Do not place hands or foreign objects into the ball hopper while the power is on.
WARNING:Never stand closer than 10 meters (35 feet) in front on the ball machine when power is
on. Balls exit at various angles, 0-45 degrees vertical, and from 14 degrees left to 14 degrees right.
WARNING: Only use standard size tennis balls with this unit.
WARNING: Use caution with small children in the area.
WARNING: Do not use this machine while it is raining or in standing water. Do not use wet tennis
balls.
Positioning
Position the ball machine at the center of the baseline with the ball exit hole directly facing the center
of the opposite baseline. When the machine is in position, engage the brakes on the front wheels.
NOTE: To ensure the proper positioning, turn the machine on speed 11 and program shot 1 to position
4. Shoot a ball until the ball lands on the service hash. The ball will have a + 1 foot deviation from the
service hash. If the ball fails to hit the service hash, adjust the rear of the machine until the ball lands at
the service hash + 1 foot.

SAM COACH™
POWER
The power entry module is located on the back of the ball machine. Unless designated otherwise, the
SAM Coach™ requires 110 Volts. The power on/off switch and fuse are also on the back of the
machine.
FEED
To turn the ball feed ON press the green oval button marked BALL FEED ON/ OFF. This will start the
ball feed carousel rotating. The feed control button (located on the far left of the control panel) adjust
the timing between shots. The feed adjustment goes from 1 - 9 with 1 as the slowest (8 seconds) and
9 the fastest (1.5 seconds)
NOTE: For safety reasons, if no balls have been fired for 20 seconds, the ball feed shuts off
automatically and must be turned on again.
SPEED
This control adjusts the speed of the balls shot from the machine. There are 20 speed settings. Speed
setting 1 is approximately 20 mph and speed setting 20 is approximately 90 mph. When changing
speeds, allow a few seconds for the throwing wheels to settle to the new speeds.
SPIN
This control is calibrated with 0 as the no spin (flat ball) position, 1 to 5 as the top spin position and -1
to -5 as the back spin positions.
ELEVATION
The elevation position is adjusted manually by the elevation handle on the right side of the machine.
Turn the handle forward (clockwise) to raise the elevation and backwards (counter-clockwise) to lower
the elevation.

SHOT POSITION
Refer to the diagram on the control panel to locate the seven different positions. A player can
program up to six different shots. To program a shot sequence, begin with SHOT 1 and work down to
SHOT 6.
NOTE: If a player wants to program fewer than six shots, program the number of desired shots then
program the remaining shots to zero. Zero means the shot is off.
SEQUENTIAL DELIVERY
Activate this option to shoot balls to the programmed positions in the order in which they were
programmed beginning with SHOT 1.
RANDOM DELIVERY
Activate this option to shoot balls randomly from the programmed positions.

function is turned ON, press the button on the remote control to activate the ball feed.

should be performed. Using a vacuum cleaner, vacuum out the ball fuzz that has accumulated under the
carousel, then remove the plastic housing that covers the throwing wheels and vacuum out the ball
chute. REPLACING THE FUSE: The fuse is located on the back of the machine. Replace with a 5 amp slow
