examine condition of hoses and hydraulic connections,
•
examine condition of cutting knives, and if need be, turn by 1/3 turn, recover or replace,
•
replace damaged parts.
After 4-5 hours of operation:
•
examine bolt connections, and connections on cutting disk, knife holders and knives, and if
need be tighten according to
Table 5
,
•
examine condition of rubber guard,
•
examine condition of hoses and hydraulic connections,
•
examine cutting knives for operating condition.
Once operation with tree stump grinder is completed, do the following:
•
clean and wash thoroughly.
In order to ensure a long-lasting high-quality cutting, the knives are mounted in knife holders
so that if knife-fixing nut is loosened and the knife is removed from the holder, it can be turned by
1/3 turn. This is to achieve 3 sharp cutting edges and
3 times longer knife's service life (
Fig. 6
).
As an additional equipment or a spare part, knives can be ordered in two options:
•
Red
–
knives with large hollow on blades for applications in non-sandy areas, where tree
grinding is problem-free,
•
Green
–
knives with smaller hollow on blades for applications in sandy areas.

5.2 After-season maintenance
Follow instruction given in section 7:
“
Maintenance and storage
”
.
6. MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
After the tree stump grinder has been dismounted from the extension arm, for idle period
longer than one month, perform the following maintenance works:
•
clean the tree stump grinder thoroughly from any soiling and then wash and dry,
•
if need be, perform any repairs, adjustments, replacement of sealing or hoses,
•
remove any sources of corrosion and complement any paintwork defects,
•
protect non-painted metal surfaces with a thin film of a solid grease, e.g. ŁT – 43, or gearbox,
mineral or motor oil, e.g. 15W40,
•
complement or replace illegible warning and information labels,
•
close connection nozzles of hydraulic hoses.
Tree stump grinder should be stored in a standstill position in a dry and clean place,
inaccessible to unauthorised personnel and animals, on an even and paved ground under a roof or
any other cover protecting it from the weather.
When approaching operation after the machine's storage period, examine technical condition
of hydraulics and drive train as on daily basis, complement the paintwork, re-grease and examine
condition of hydraulic hoses.
7. TRANSPORT
For transport set the grinder in a transport position on its support leg, with the mounting plate
up. Cover the tree stump grinder with bubble foil and fix it on a pallet with duct tape. Any further
moving of the machine should be done with the fixed pallet, considered as its integral part.
To place the tree stump grinder on a pallet use a webbing sling and a lifting device with
capacity of no less than the grinder
’
s weight.
