2. SAFETY
ATTENTION!
Only personnel familiar with this operating manual may operate the snow plow.
Every user should be fully aware of existing dangers and should know how to
avoid them.
2.1. Safety rules
Before operation the operator must read this operating manual.
Unfamiliarity with the operating manual can lead to damaging of the plow.
Using the plow for purposes other than the intended use is forbidden.
The City plow with the frame has bolts on the mount which act as a mechanical overload safety
system. If those are broken all resulting damages are not covered under warranty.
Introducing of changes to the construction without manufacturer's approval is forbidden.
Observe the regulations of the traffic code while operating the plow.
Operating speeds of the tractor-plow unit should be appropriate to working conditions, such as:
level of unevenness, rocks, curbs and other immovable obstacles.
Low operating speeds are recommended – using low gears of the tractor. Use of higher speeds can
cause injury to the driver and damage to the plow and the front TPH (three-point hitch) of the
tractor.
Unauthorized personnel can not remain in the vicinity of the plow.
Before starting work conduct a check of the device and especially the condition of the main
connections of the plow and the connection of the plow to the tractor.
In the event of the necessity of working under a plow raised on the TPH of the tractor the plow
must be secured so that it does not fall.
The condition of bolt connections and other connecting elements should be periodically checked.
Operation with damaged connections is forbidden.
Carrying people or loads on the plow during transport or operation is forbidden.
Use original pins and safeguards to connect the plow to the tractor.
When standing the plow should be in the parking position.
Damaged hydraulic hoses and other elements of the hydraulic system should be replaced.
Use only original spare parts which are purchased at our company store or at a dealership.
During operation, maintenance or adjustment always use protective gloves.
Do not leave the tractor and plow on inclines. If such need occurs turn off the engine, engage
the parking brake and lower the plow.
The plow should be stored in a covered area in the retracted position – with the actuators retracted
to protect the piston rods.

2.3. Warnings and prohibitions
ATTENTION!
Despite the fact that the manufacturer of the plow SaMASZ Sp. z o. o.
Bialystok, in order to eliminate danger, assumes responsibility for the design
and construction of its plows, some elements of risk (so called residual risk) are
unavoidable during plow use.
ATTENTION!
Existing residual risk mainly results from inappropriate behavior of the snow
plow operator and not adhering to the rules of the operating manual.
ATTENTION!
While assessing residual risk the snow plow is treated as a machine which to
the moment of its manufacture was designed and constructed according to
the level of technology used at the time of its manufacture.
ATTENTION!
The danger of injury occurs during replacement of any working elements with
sharp edges. During all repairs or maintenance always wear protective gloves.
PROHIBITIONS!
Remember the following prohibitions during snow plow operation.
Operation of the plow under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medications which reduce motor
skills is forbidden.
Operation of the plow by unauthorized or untrained personnel is forbidden.
Using the plow for activities other than those described in the operating manual is forbidden.
3. INTENDED USE AND CONSTRUCTION
The City plows are light duty plows intended for snow removal from roads, car parks, slightly
uneven lots or other similar tasks.
Thoroughly tested construction and the right choice of materials ensure a high reliability and
durability of our products. The City snow plow basically consists of a suspension system with
a replaceable mount and adjustable working moldboards (right and left) regulated using hydraulic
actuators or manually, using adjustment couplers. Dual directional actuators are controlled using
the tractor's hydraulic system with a controllable directional valve. A more detailed construction of
the plow City has been presented on the picture below (Fig. 2).

The City plows have been designed in such a way that they can be mounted on the small
municipal tractors, which because of the specific construction of their front triangular suspension
systems are not able to connect to the above mentioned mounts. For this reason a special municipal
mounting system was designed, which replaces the standard mounting system with the mounting
frame (Fig. 4). City K snow plows have only been designed to less power tractors – municipal.
City Up plows are designed to serve as equipment for low-power vehicles with no own lifting
assembly.

City K snow plows are not adjusted to mounting frames - they are equipped with special
municipal linkage,
City Up plows are suitable for mounting on front linkage PN-EN 15432 Type B (DIN 76060),
the tractor must have a 12 V power outlet (cigarette lighter outlet),
the tractor must have at least one pair of hydraulic connections.
Fig. 9. Mounting the City plow on the three point hitch (A – pins with cotter pins, B – hydraulic connector,
C – support foot, D – electrical outlet, E – lower lifting arms of the tractor, F – upper tie,
G – rotation axis of moldboards)
In order to mount the plow on the tractor approach the plow so that the lower lifting arms of
the three point hitch are inserted into the mountings of the plow's suspension. Secure the mounting
using pins and cotter pins. Connect the upper part of the suspension system using a regulated tie and
secure them with a pin and cotter pin (Fig. 9). Next, connect the hydraulic connections and the power
plug along with the control switch. The rotation axis of the moldboards should be perpendicular to
the ground. After lifting the plow the support foot should be lifted and secured with a pin. If the plow
has been equipped with support wheels or skids they should be adjusted to the correct height.
ATTENTION!
The manufacturer is not responsible for damages to the device resulting from
improper mounting of the plow on the TPH of the tractor. During operation
periodically check weather the plow is still properly mounted.
5.2. Mounting City Up plows on a truck/tractor
In order to mount City Up plow on truck/tractor the following should be performed (Fig. 10):
install control panel,
plug in power plug to lighter's connector,
connect hydraulic hoses to vehicle, 4 connectors (2x2 pairs),
it is recommended to retract both cylinders responsible for shields' shifting (item. V) in order to
provide the plow’s better stability,
catch can be lifted up onto a desired mounting height by means of vehicle’s hydraulics,
set the vehicle in position which enables plow to be mounted on, so that hitch holders are above

5.5. Preparing the plow for operation
ATTENTION:
During storing of the machines in company SaMASZ the cylinders are
protected by special grease in order to secure them against weather which may
cause their premature wear. Before starting the operation excess grease should
be removed from the cylinders.
After correctly mounting the plow on the tractor it should be inspected and it should be
determined if the plow has worn blade inserts, bumpers or loose bolts. If necessary replace worn
elements and tighten the bolts. If the plow is ready for use it should be placed in the desired position
and plowing can be started. Fig. 16 and Fig. 17 presents basic operating positions of the plow.
While working on public roads turn on the marker lights.

5.5. Operation
ATTENTION!
During plowing the driving speed should be appropriate to existing road
conditions. During plowing driving faster than 25 km/h is forbidden.
The City plows are light duty plows which can withstand snow pressure up to 3 tons.
A schematic of permissible load distribution has been presented in Tab. 3, positions a), b) and c).
These plows often operate on uneven terrain and are subject to meeting immovable obstacles which
the operator often can not see, especially when covered by snow. For this reason the City plows have
been equipped with a number of overload safeguards:
the first is the lateral coping system, which allows for overcoming slight diagonal bumps by
adjusting to them. Plow construction allows the plowshare to tilt right or left by 6° in relation to
the mount.
the third are the folding blades which tilt by up to 90° thanks to which the plow easily can go over
obstacles of up to 10 cm (Tab. 2) – a condition of this safeguard is that the TPH must be set to
the floating setting.
Tab. 2. The working of the blade
This concerns one blade. The City 150 (K) / 180 (K) / 200 (K) plows have 4 blades each.

the fourth system is the patented construction of the mount which protects the plow from pressure
greater than 3 tons and from sudden collisions with an immovable obstacle. It works by absorbing
the energy of the collision through partial or complete breaking of the 8 M8 class 8.8 bolts
securing the mount's pressure plates (Fig. 18).

After 5 workhours:
check the condition of blade inserts,
check the condition of mount securing bolts and replace if necessary,
when installed adjust the height of support wheels or skids if necessary.
After finishing work:
carefully clean and wash the plow.
7. MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
In the event when the plow will be parked for a period longer than two weeks, always perform
the following maintenance:
carefully clean and wash the plow,
if the plow requires repairs, adjustments, gasket replacement, or hose replacement this should be
completed,
remove any rust spots and touch up any damaged paint,
protect metal surfaces with a light coating of a thick lubricant such as ŁT – 43, mineral oil or gear
oil like 15W40,
replace any illegible warning or informational signs,
protect the connecting fittings of the hydraulic hoses.
ATTENTION!
The snow plow should be stored in the retracted position - with the actuators
retracted, in a dry and clean place, not accessible to unauthorized personnel or
