5. USING OF THE SCISSOR TRIMMER
5.1. Attaching the scissor trimmer to the extension arm
In order to mount scissor trimmer on extension arm do the following in a sequence:
place pallet with scissor trimmer on an even and paved ground,
drive the tractor with the attached extension arm and position the mounting plate of the arm so it
matches the scissor trimmer‘s mounting plate,
secure the tractor against moving,
bolt trimmer‘s mounting plate to the arm's mounting plate with bolts and M14 nuts,
connect hydraulic hoses using push-in fittings while paying particular attention so that the
scissor trimmer’s supplying hose is connected to the supply connector P(+) of the extension arm
and the scissor trimmer’s return hose to return connector T(-) of the extension arm,
lift up the connected scissor trimmer slightly above the pallet and check all bolt connections and
whether there are no apparent damages,
take off the cutting bars cover and next pre-start scissor trimmer in order to check whether
connections and operation are correct.

CAUTION:
When connecting and inspecting the scissor trimmer, follow any and all safety
conditions provided herein.
5.2. Transport position and drives
Transport position of scissor trimmer aggregated with SaMASZ extension arm corresponds to
the arm's transport position. See.
When mounting the scissor trimmer on other type of extension arm, fold the scissor trimmer
aggregated with the arm in the position as compact as possible.
To transport the aggregation of arm and scissor trimmer, use any protective means as intended
for control and design of the extension arm.
Dismount the PTO shaft for transport.
Provide proper marking and lighting of the aggregated machines for a low-speed vehicle to
comply with road traffic provisions.
Driving speed should always be adjusted to current road conditions.

5.3. Operation
5.3.1. Basic information about the operation
In order to ensure proper high-quality operation, as well as to maintain machine's durability
follow these rules::
respect work safety and traffic rules solely,
scissors trimmer can cut branches with diameter up to Ø100mm (10 cm),
keep hydraulic oil consumption for scissor trimmer’s supply pump at max. 45÷60 l/min. For
SaMASZ extension arm such demand is achieved at tractor’s PTO shaft rpm of 300-350 rpm,
it is recommended for the operator before cutting to set the machine in an adequate position and
does not modify such position on a single drive. Such manner of operation provides work safety
and treatment aesthetics,
longer branches should be cut gradually, starting from the top and moving to the bottom for the
likeliness of damaging the tractor by falling cut branches.
remember to adjust driving speed to the thickness and quantity of the branches being cut at the
same time so as not to overload the scissor trimmer and thus prevent it from jamming,
when cutting do not make any perpendicular motion with the extension arm in relation to the
cutting plane as this may damage the cutting bars
cutting plane when using scissor trimmer should be as parallel to driving direction as possible,
it is forbidden to operate the scissor trimmer when cutting bars are contaminated. Sand, rocks,
wires and other solid objects (non-wooden) cause accelerated blunting of blades and their
damage,
do not operate the machine if cutting bars have significant plays on guides or there is no
lubricant in between,
it is forbidden to use the trimmer for cutting any non-wooden materials,
for long operating periods, it is recommended, on few-hours basis, to periodically inspect
cutting bars, bolt connections, as well as the scissor trimmer itself,
it is forbidden to operate the scissor trimmer if any damages are found. For further operation,
immediately correct any damages,
if cutting bars become blunt, order their recovery or replace them.

5.3.2.Initial adjustment and preparing for operation
Scissor trimmer is factory adjusted and requires no additional adjustments. If any signs of
improper operation of the machine are found, please contact the Manufacturer's service.
Before operating the machine do the following:
set tilt by means of mounting plate tilt adjustment,
thoroughly examine the machine for operational condition, plays and damages. Pay particular
attention to condition of bolt connections on cutting knives,
remove any guards, locks and safety devices mounted on the aggregation of extension arm and
scissor trimmer,
connect the PTO shaft to the tractor,
having made sure there is no unauthorized personnel around, start machine with no load and
reach the pre-set PTO rpm rate, and then shut down and check for tightness,
if the machine's condition and its idle operation raise no doubts, start operating.
5.3.3.Safe start up and shut down
Before operating make sure there are no unauthorized personnel or animals within the range
of 10 m. Next set the machine in the mean working position and start it afterwards.
Before stopping the machine first stop cutting by driving the scissor trimmer into a space with
no branches or bushes around. Then turn off the machine's drive. After this it is possible to start
operation of the extension arm in order to set the arm-trimmer aggregate to transport position.
5.3.4.Control
Scissors trimmer is controlled with the extension arm control panel.
5.3.5.Proceedings in case work unit is locked
Lower adaptor onto the ground.
Perform any works at the machine only with its drive turned off and no pressure present in the
hydraulics.
Remove the ignition key and secure the vehicle against uncontrolled movements or unintended
start up.
Wear protective gloves and remove the part which causes the machine's locking.
5.3.6. Dismounting machine from the extension arm
To dismount the machine from the extension arm:
turn cutterbar’s drive off,
drive the tractor with connected the extension arm and the scissor trimmer to the pallet. The
pallet must be placed on the equal and hardened ground,
carefully put a scissor trimmer on a pallet,
secure the tractor against its free runaway,
turn the tractor's engine off and take ignition key off,
fit a cutting bars cover,
disconnect a hydraulic hoses,
disconnect trimmer’s mounting plate from the extension arm’s mounting plate by unscrewing,
carefully drive away with the tractor.
