MP3/WMA Play
• Your MP3 or WMA files should be ISO 9660 or JOLIET for at.
ISO 9660 format an Joliet MP3 or WMA files are compatible with Microsoft's DOS an Win ows,
an with Apple's Mac. These two formats are the most wi ely use .
• When na ing your MP3 or WMA files do not exceed 8 characters, and place ". p3, .w a" as
the file extension.
General name format of: Title.mp3. or Title.wma. When composing your title, make sure that you use
8 characters or less, have no spaces in the name, an avoi the use of special characters inclu ing:
(.,/,\,=,+).
• Use a deco pression transfer rate of at least 128 Kbps when recording MP3 files.
Soun quality with MP3 files basically epen s on the rate of compression/ ecompression you
choose. Getting au io CD quality soun requires an analog/ igital sampling rate, that is conversion to
MP3 format, of at least 128 Kbps an up to 160 Kbps. However, choosing higher rates, like 192 Kbps
or more, only rarely give better soun quality.
Conversely, files with ecompression rates below 128 Kbps will not be playe properly.
•Use a deco pression transfer rate of at least 64Kbps when recording WMA files.
Soun quality with WMA files basically epen s on the rate of compression/ ecompression you
choose. Getting au io CD quality soun requires an analog/ igital sampling rate, that is conversion to
WMA format, of at least 64Kbps an up to 192Kbps.
Conversely, files with ecompression rates below 64Kbps or over 192Kbps will not be playe
properly.
• Do not try recording copyright protected MP3 files.
Certain "securize " files are encrypte an co e protecte to prevent illegal copying. These files are
of the following types: Win ows Me iaTM (registere tra e mark of Microsoft Inc) an SDMITM
(registere tra e mark of The SDMI Foun ation). You cannot copy such files.
• I portant: The above recommen ations cannot be taken as a guarantee that the DVD player will
play MP3 recor ings, or as an assurance of soun quality.
You shoul note that certain technologies an metho s for MP3 file recor ing on CD-Rs prevent
optimal playback of these files on your DVD player ( egra e soun quality an in some cases,
inability of the player to rea the files).
• This unit can play a maximum of 500 files an 300 fol ers per isc.
CD-R MP3/WMA discs
When playing CD-R/MP3 or WMA discs, please follow all the reco endations for CD-R
above, plus the co ents below:

• Depen ing on the isc, the Program an Ran om Play functions may not work.
• To resume normal play, press the CLEAR button.
• PROGRAM/RANDOM playback cannot be use if the isc contains more than two types of file extensions.
• This unit can support a maximum of 99 programme or er.

Press the PROG button.
Use the LEFT/RIGHT buttons to select
PROGRAM. Press the ENTER button.
Use the UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT buttons to
select the first track to a to the program.
Press the ENTER button. The selection
numbers appear in the Program Or er box.
Press the PLAY/PAUSE ( ) button.
The isc will be playe in programme or er.
Press the PROG button.
Use the LEFT/RIGHT buttons to select
RANDOM. Press the ENTER button.
