instrument for taking measurements on the upper arm. It is simple to
use, accurate and comes highly recommended for blood pressure
monitoring in your home. This instrument was developed in collabo-
ration with physicians and clinical tests proving its measurement
accuracy to be very high.*
Please read through these instructions carefully so that you under-
stand all functions and safety information. We want you to be happy

1. Important Facts about Blood Pressure and Self-
Measurement
•Blood pressure is the pressure of the blood owing in the
arteries generated by the pumping of the heart. Two values,
the systolic (upper) value and the diastolic (lower) value, are
always measured.
•The instrument also indicates the pulse rate(the number of
times the heart beats in a minute).
•Permanently high blood pressure values can damage your
health and must be treated by your doctor!
•Always discuss your values with your doctor and tell him/her
if you have noticed anything unusual or feel unsure.
Never rely on single blood pressure readings.
•There are many causes of excessively high blood pressure
values. Your doctor will explain them in more detail and
treatment where appropriate. Besides medication, relaxation
techniques, weight loss and exercise can also lower your
blood pressure.
•Under no circumstances should you alter the dosages of
any drugs prescribed by your doctor!
•Depending on physical exertion and condition, blood pressure is
subject to wide as the day progresses.You should
therefore take your measurements in the same quiet condi-
tions and when you feel relaxed!Take at least two measure-
ments per day, one in the morning and one in the evening.
•It is quite normal for two measurements taken in quick succession
to produce si cantly rent results.
•Deviationsbetween measurements taken by your doctor or in the
pharmacy and those taken at home are quite normal, as these
situations are completely nt.
•Several measurementsprovide a much clearer picture than just
one single measurement.
•Leave a small break of at least 15 seconds between two
measurements.
•If you are pregnant, you should monitor your blood pressure
very closely as it can change drastically during this time!
•If you su from an irregular heartbeat ,measurements taken
with this instrument should only be evaluated after consultation
with your doctor.
•The pulse display is not suitable for checking the
frequency of heart pacemakers!

How do I evaluate my blood pressure?
There are various organizations or institutions that
clas tions for blood pressure.
The higher value is the one that determines the evaluation.
Example: a readout value between 150/85 or120/98 mmHg
indicates «blood pressure too high».
If your values are mostly normal under resting conditions but
exceptionally high under conditions of physical or psychological
stress, it is possible that you are from so-called
«labile hypertension». Consult your doctor.
Correctly measured diastolic blood pressure values above
120 mmHg require immediate medical treatment.
Following a table for classifying blood pressure values in adults
in accordance with the World Health Organisation (WHO) in 2003.

2. Using the Instrument for the First Time
Inserting the batteries
After you have unpacked your device, rst insert the batteries.
The battery compartment 4is at the back of the device. Insert
the batteries (4 x size AA 1,5 V), thereby observing the indicated
polarity.
Setting the date and time
3. Taking a Blood Pressure Measurement using this
Instrument
1. After the new batteries are d, the year number ashes in
the display. You can set the year by pressing the M-button
AO .
To and then set the month, press the time button AP.
2. You can now set the month using the M-button. Press the
time button to and then set the day.
3. Please follow the instructions above to set the day, hour and
minutes.
4. Once you have set the minutes and pressed the time button,
the date and time are set and the time is displayed.
5. If you want to change the date and time, press and hold the
time button down for approx. 3 seconds until the year number
starts Now you can enter the new values as described
above.
Checklist for taking a reliable measurement
1. Avoid activity, eating or smoking immediately before the
measurement.
2. Sit down for at least 5 minutes before the measurement
and relax.
3. Always measure on the same arm (normally left).
4. Remove close garments from the upper arm.

At the end of a measurement, this instrument automatically
stores each result, including date and time.
Viewing the stored values
Press the M-button AObriey, when the instrument is switched o.
The display rst shows « M»AL and «A», followed by an average
value of all readings in memory. Press the M-button again, so
the display shows «M» and a value, e.g. «M 17». This means that
there are 17 values in the memory. The instrument then
switches to the last stored result.
Pressing the M-button again displays the previous value.
Pressing the M-button repeatedly enables you to move from
one stored value to another.

Clearing all values
If you are sure that you want to permanently remove all stored
values, hold down the M-button (the instrument must have
been switched o beforehand) until « CL » appears and then
release the button. To permanently clear the memory, press
the M-button while « CL » is ashing. Individual values cannot

This instrument is an oscillometric blood pressure monitor that also
analyses pulse frequency during measurement. The instrument is
clinically tested.
The arrhythmia symbol is displayed after the measurement, if pulse
irregularities occur during measurement. If the symbol appears
more frequently (e.g. several times per week on measurements
performed daily) we recommend the patient to seek medical
advice.
The instrument does not replace a cardiac examination,
but serves to detect pulse irregularities at an early stage.
Pay attention that the maximum memory capacity of 60
is not exceeded. When the memory is full, the old values
are automatically overwritten with new ones. Values
should be evaluated by a doctor before the memory
capacity is reached – otherwise data will be lost.

6. Battery Indicator and Battery change
Low battery
When the batteries are approximately ¾ empty the battery

continue to measure reliably, you should obtain replacement
batteries.
Flat battery – replacement
When the batteries are at, the battery symbol AK will ash

You cannot take any further measurements and must replace
the batteries.
Which batteries and which procedure?
Using rechargeable batteries
You can also operate this instrument using rechargeable batteries.
7. Error Messages
If an error occurs during the measurement, the measurement
is interrupted and an error message, e.g. « ERR 3 », is displayed.

Batteries must be removed and recharged when the at

instrument as they may become damaged (total discharge as
a result of low use of the instrument, even when switched o).
Always remove the rechargeable batteries if you do not intend
to use the instrument for a week or more.
Batteries cannot be charged in the blood pressure monitor.
Recharge batteries in an external charger and observe the
information regarding charging, care and durability.

8. Safety, Care, Accuracy Test and Disposal
Safety and protection
« ERR 2 » Error signal During the measurement, error signals were
detected by the cu, caused for instance by
movement or muscle tension. Repeat the
measurement, keeping your arm still.

ERR 3 »No pressure
in the cu
An adequate pressure cannot be generated
in the cu. A leak may have occurred. Check
that the cu is correctly connected and is
not too loose. Replace the batteries if
necessary. Repeat the measurement.

ERR 5 » Abnormal
result
The measuring signals are inaccurate and
no result can therefore be displayed. Read
through the checklist for performing
reliable measurements and then repeat
the measurement.*

The pressure in the cu is too high (over
300 mmHg) OR the pulse is too high (over
200 beats per minute). Relax for 5 minutes
and repeat the measurement.*

Clean the instrument only with a soft, dry cloth.
Accuracy test
We recommend this instrument is tested for accuracy every
2 years or after mechanical impact (e.g. being dropped).

This instrument is covered by a 1 year warranty efrom the date
of purchase. The warranty is valid only on presentation of the
warranty card completed by the dealer (see back) g

•Do not use the instrument close to strong electromagnetic

unsupervised; some parts are small enough to be
swallowed.
Batteries and electronic instruments must be disposed
of in accordance with the locally applicable
regulations, not with domestic waste.

•Opening or altering the instrument invalidates the warranty.

Lea atentamente las instrucciones antes de utilizar
este dispositivo.

La presión arterial es la presión de la sangre que circula por
las arterias, generada por el bombeo del corazón.
Se miden siempre dos valores, el valor
sistólico (superior) y
el valor
diastólico (inferior).

•El dispositivo indica también la frecuencia del pulso (el número
de latidos del corazón en un minuto).
•¡Una presión arterial permanentemente alta puede perjudicar
su salud y debe ser tratada por su médico!
•Consulte los valores medidos siempre con su médico y
coméntele si ha notado algo inusual o si tiene alguna duda.
No confíe nunca en una sola lectura de presión arterial.
•Existen muchas causas de valores de presión sanguínea
excesivamente altos. Su médico se las explicará en detalle y, en
caso de necesidad, le ofrecerá el tratamiento adecuado. Aparte de
la medicación, las técnicas de relajación, la pérdida de peso y el
ejercicio físico también pueden ayudar a bajar la presión arterial.
•¡Bajo ningún concepto, deberá alterar la dosis de cualquier
medicamento prescrito por su médico!
•
Dependiendo de la condición y el esfuerzo físico, la presión arterial
está sujeta a amplias uctuaciones durante el transcurso del día.
¡Por esta razón, debe realizar la medición siempre en las
mismas condiciones de tranquilidad y estando relajado!

al menos dos mediciones al día, una por la mañana y otra por la
tarde.
•
Es completamente normal que dos mediciones tomadas en
rápida sucesión puedan producir
resultados que an
sign ativamente.
•Las diferencias entre las mediciones tomadas por su médico
o en la farmacia y las tomadas en casa son muy normales,
debido a que estas situaciones son completamente diferentes.
•La toma de múltiples mediciones proporciona un resultado
mucho más claro que una sola medición.
•Deje pasar un breve intervalo de tiempo de al menos
15 segundos entre dos mediciones.
•¡Si está usted embarazada, debería llevar un seguimiento
exhaustivo de su presión arterial, ya que puede cambiar
drásticamente durante el embarazo!
•Si padece de irregularidad cardíaca (arritmia), las
mediciones tomadas con este dispositivo deben ser
evaluadas sólo previa consulta con su médico.
•¡El indicador de pulsaciones no es apropiado para
comprobar la frecuencia de los marcapasos!

¿Cómo he de evaluar mi presión arterial?
Existen varias organizaciones o instituciones que las
clas de la presión arterial.
El valor superior es el que determina la evaluación.
Ejemplo: Una lectura comprendida entre150/85ó 120/98
mmHg indica «presión arterial demasiado alta».
Si sus valores son mayormente normales bajos durante
períodos de descanso, pero excepcionalmente altos bajo
sufra de lo que llama «hipertensión lábil».
Consulte con su médico.
La presión arterial diastólica correctamente medida que está por
encima de 120mmHg, requiere tratamiento médico inmediato.
A continuación la tabla de ación de presión arterial en
adultos según la Organización Mundial dela Salud (WHO) del 2003.

2. Usando el dispositivo por primera vez
Colocación de las baterías
Después de desembalar el dispositivo, en primer lugar,
inserte las baterías. El compartimento de baterías 4está
situado en la parte inferior del dispositivo. Inserte las baterías
(4 x tamaño AA 1,5 V) observando la polaridad indicada.
Ajuste de fecha y hora
3. Medición de la presión arterial usando este dispositivo
1. Una vez activadas las baterías, el número del año
parpadea en la pantalla. Ajuste el año pulsando el botón M
AO. Para ajustar a continuación el mes, pulse
el botón Hora AP .
2. Ahora puede ajustar el mes usando el botón M. Pulse el
botón Hora para con y, a continuación, ajuste el día.
3. Por favor, siga las instrucciones anteriores para ajustar el
día, la hora y los minutos.
4. Una vez que haya ajustado los minutos y pulsado el botón
Hora, la fecha y la hora están puestas y se visualiza la hora.
5. Si desea cambiar la fecha y la hora, pulse y mantenga
pulsado el botón Hora durante aprox. 3 segundos hasta
que comience a parpadear el número del año. Ahora,
podrá introducir los nuevos valores tal como se ha
descrito anteriormente.

1. Evite comer o fumar, así como cualquier otra actividad
inmediatamente antes de la medición.
2. Siéntese
durante al menos 5 minutos antes de la medición y
relájese.
3. Efectúe la medición siempre en el mismo brazo
(normalmente en el izquierdo).
4.
Quítese las prendas de vestir ajustadas a su brazo. Para
evitar la constricción, no se deben arremangar las mangas
de camisa ya que intereren con el brazalete si se
encuentran en contacto.

Procedimiento para no guardar la lectura
Pulse el botón ON/OFF 1mientras se esté visualizando la
lectura. Mantenga pulsado el botón hasta que parpadee «M»
AL y, entonces, suéltelo. Con pulsando el botón M.
5. Compruebe siempre que el brazalete esté posicionado
correctamente, tal como está representado en los dibujos
en la tarjeta de instrucciones breves.
•Coloque el brazalete de tal forma que esté ajustado, pero
que no quede demasiado apretado.
•Asegúrese de que el brazalete se encuentre a 2 cm (0.75
pulgada) por encima de su codo con el tubo situado en el
lado interior de su brazo.
•Coloque su brazo de tal forma que esté relajado.
•Asegúrese de que el brazalete se encuentre a la misma
altura que su corazón.
6. Presione el botón ON/OFF 1para iniciar la medición.

Ahora, el brazalete se in ará automáticamente. Relájese, no
se mueva y no tense los músculos de su brazo hasta que se
visualice el resultado de la medición. Respire normalmente
y no hable..
8. Una vez alcanzada la presión correcta, el in ado se detiene
y la presión cae gradualmente. Si no se alcanzó la presión
necesaria, el dispositivo bombeará automáticamente más
aire al brazalete.
9. Durante la medición, el símbolo del corazón AT parpadea
en la pantalla y suena un pitido o bip cada vez que se
detecta un latido cardíaco.
10. Se visualiza el resultado compuesto por las presiones
arteriales sistólica 7y diastólica 8y el pulso 9y se escucha
un pitido o bip más largo. Tenga en cuenta también las
explicaciones de otras indicaciones en este manual.
11. Retire el brazalete cuando la medición haya terminado.
12. Desconecte el dispositivo. (El tensiómetro se apaga
automáticamente al cabo de aprox. 1 min).
La medición se puede detener en cualquier momento
presionando el botón ON/OFF (p.ej. si no se encuentra bien
o en caso de tener una sensación de presión desagradable).

4. Aparición del indicador de arritmia cardíaca para
una detección anticipada
Este símbolo AN indica que durante la medición se detectaron ciertas
irregularidades del pulso. En este caso, el resultado puede diferir de
su tensión arterial normal – repita la medición. En la mayoría de los
casos no es causa de preocupación. En cualquier caso, si el símbolo
aparece con cierta regularidad (p.ej. varias veces a la semana reali-
zando mediciones a diario) le recomendamos consultar con su
médico. Por favor, enséñele la siguiente información al médico:

Al de la medición, este dispositivo guarda
automáticamente cada resultado, incluyendo la fecha y
la
hora.

Pulse el botón M AO brevemente estando apagado el
dispositivo.
En la pantalla aparece primero «M»ALy «A», seguida por el valor
promedio el todas las lecturas en memoria. Presione el botón
nuevamente, para que la pantalla muestre «M» y después
un valor, p.ej. « M 17 ». Esto que hay 17 valores en la
memoria. Entonces, el dispositivo cambia al último valor
guardado.
Al volver a pulsar el botón M se vuelve a visualizar el valor
anterior. Pulsando el botón M repetidamente se puede
cambiarde un
valor guardado a otro.

Información para el médico en el caso de una frecuente
aparición del indicador de arritmia
Este dispositivo es un tensiómetro oscilométrico que analiza
también la frecuencia de las pulsaciones durante la
medición. El dispositivo ha sido probado clínicamente.
En el caso que durante la medición surjan irregularidades
en las pulsaciones, el símbolo de arritmia aparecerá después
de la medición. Si el símbolo de arritmia aparece con mayor
frecuencia (p.ej. varias veces a la semana realizando
mediciones a diario), le recomendamos al paciente que
consulte a su médico.
El dispositivo no sustituye a un examen cardíaco, pero sirve
para detectar las irregularidades del pulso en una fase inicial.
Tenga cuidado de no exceder la capacidad máxima de la
memoria que es de 60. Cuando la memoria está llena, los
valores antiguos se sobrescriben automáticamente con
valores nuevos. Los valores deberán ser evaluados por un
médico antes de alcanzar la capacidad máxima de la
memoria en caso contrario, se perderán los datos.
