OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
UNPACKING ANDSETTING UP
Thismanualcoversinstallation and operation ofthe RS-330DigitalFM/AMStereo
Clock Radio.The optionalRS-332 High-FidelityClock RadioStereo Speakeris
required forstereo listening (although you can listen through stereo headphones
withthe RS-330 byitself).
Afterunpacking the RS-330,plug itspowercordintoan appropriateACpower
outlet. 120 voltACpowerisstandardthroughoutmostofNorthAmerica.Voltage
variesinotherpartsofthe world.The RS-330 mayemita“thump”when first
plugged in;thisisnormal.
Thereisan FMMODEswitchnexttothe controlcablejack on the back panel.
If you areusing the RS-332 High-FidelityClock RadioStereo Speaker,setthis
switchtoSTEREOtohearstereo broadcasts.If you arelistening tothe RS-330
byitself, setthisswitchtoMONO.
THEDISPLAY
The fluorescentdisplayshowsthe currenttime,station frequency,alarmsettings,
and operationalmodes.
Alightsensoratthe baseofthe displayautomaticallyadjuststhe display’s
brightness tocompensateforchangesinroomlighting.You can modifythe
automaticsetting withthe recessed knob on the bottomofthe RS-330.Turn
thisknob clockwisetomakethe displaybrighter,counter-clockwisetomakeit
dimmer.

EThe displayshowseitherthe station frequency,orthe currenttime,butnotboth
simultaneously.Wheneveryou turnon the radio,orselectanewstation,the
displayautomaticallyswitchestothe station frequency.The displaywill auto-
maticallyreturntothe timeafterseven seconds.Toviewthe station frequency,
press the FREQ(frequency)button .
BACKUPSYSTEM
The RS-330 featuresabuilt-insupercapacitorbackup systemtoretainalarm
settingsand station presetsforup toone hourwhen the unitisunplugged or
powerislost. The clock alsocontinuestokeep time,asaccuratelyaswhen
connected tothe power.It will takeatleasttwohoursafterplugging in,beforethe
backup systemisfunctional.
Pleasenotethatthe backup systemretainsonlythe radioand clock settings.It
doesnotsupplyenough powertoilluminatethe displayorplaythe radio.
POSITIONING THERS-330
The RS-330 shouldbe placed whereitisnotexposed tohigh temperaturesor
humidity.
Although the RS-330 Clock Radiosoundsgreatbyitself, when paired withthe
optionalRS-332 High-FidelityPowered Speaker,itprovidesbrilliantstereo sound.
You maywanttoreposition the RS-330 and the RS-332 forthe bestsound.They
shouldbe aboutequallydistantfromyourusuallistening position.The fartheryou
separatethe RS-330 and RS-332,the morespaciousthe sound becomes.Plac-
ing eitherunitclosertoawall orcornerproducesmorebass.
Note:The powercordand extension cableshouldbe located whereitcannotbe
chewed bypetsortripped over.
Front-panelcontrolbuttonsareback-litforeaseofuseinadarkened room.
RADIOOPERATION
Press the POWERON/OFF switchtoturnon the radio.Adjustthe VOLUME
controltoacomfortablelevel.Press POWERON/OFF asecond timetoturn
the radiooff.
The TREBLEand BASS controlscan be settotaste,ortomakethe
programmaterialsound better.Turning up the bass when listening atlowvolume
levelsgivesarichersound.Turning the controlstowardthe +markincreasesthe
trebleorbass.Turning themtowardthe _markdecreasesthe trebleorbass.
