I~A~N~E~T~The primaq source of X-RADIATION in television receiver is the picture tube. The picture tube is spe-
jclally constructed to limit X-RADIATION emissions. For continued X-RADIATION protection, the replacement tube must be the
~same type as the original including suffixletter.Excessivehigh voltage may produce potentially hazardous X-RADIATION, To
avoid such hazards, the high voltage must be maintained within specified limit. Refer to this service manual, high voltage adjust-
ment for specific high voltage limits. If high voltage exceeds specified limits, take necessary corrective action. Carefully follow
_~the instructions for +B1 volt power supply adjustment, and high voltage adjustment to maintain the high voltage within the speci.

GREY SCALE AND TRACKING ADJUSTMENT
Tune the receiver to the mono-chrome circular pattern.

Set the BRIGHTNESS and the COLOUR to normal, the
CONTRAST to maximum.
Set the SERVICE SWITCH (SW241) on the Main unit to the
service side znd disconnect K13BL on the AN unit.
Set the DRIVE VOLUME (VR681 and VR661) at their
mechanical center.
Set the BIAS VOLUME (VR662, VR672 and VR682) to mini-
mum. (fully counter clockwise.)
Turn the SCREEN VOLUME on the Main unit to obtain just
visible one coloured line.
Adjust each BIAS VOLUME (VR662 —BLUE, VR672 —
GREEN and VR662 —RED) alternately untill adim white line
produced.
Set the SERVICE SWITCH (SW241) to the normal side and
connect K13BL.
Adjust the DRIVE VOLUME (VR661 —BLUE and VR661 —
RED) alternately to produce normal black and white picture.
Check for proper grey scale traking at all brightness levels.
N~E: If grey scale adjustment is made after picture tube
replacement, check high voltage and sub —brightness
adjustments.
FOCUS ADJUSTMENT
Adjust focus control on the left side of the chassis for well scan-
ning lines.
SUB CONTRAST ADJUSTMENT
1. Connect the oscilloscope to TP-6C (+)and TP-6E (–)on the
CRT unit.
2. Set the Colour to minimum and the contrast to maximum.
3Adjust brightness VR or Sub —brightness VR (VR211)to be
“b” -Iov &5V.
4. Adjust VR1202 (Sub —contrast volume) on the Video unit to
be “a” =loovf~.

SUB BRIGHTNESS A~USTMENT
1. Connect aDC meter between ‘‘TP-H” (positwe lead) and
“TP-G” (negative lead) on main unit.
2. Receive the circular pattern.
3. Set brightness to maximum and contrast to minimum.
4. Adjust sub brightness control (VR211) for 0.4V.
NOTE: If picture tube replace. Check Sub-brightness ad-
justment.
VERTICAL SIZE AIXIUSTMENT
1. Tune the receiver to monochrome circular pattern
2. Adjust vertical size (VR451) control for full scan
HORIZONTAL CENTER ADJUSTMENT
1. Tune the receiver to mono-chrome circular pattern.
2. Set the brightness and contrast to maximum.
3. Adjust Video Phase (VR411) for optimum honz center P
sition,
VERTICAL LINEALITY ADJUSTMENT
1. Tune the receiver to the monochrome circure pattern.
2. Set the brightness and contrast to maximum.
3. Adjust VR461 to be A=Bf3mm
Lvertical center
HORIZONTAL WIDTH ADJUSTMENT
1. Tune the receiver to mono-chrome circular pattern.
2. Set contrast and bright to maximum.
3. If the picture is too wide or narrow, adjust horizontal width by
using VR481.
NOTE: Horiz. width adjustment affects high voltage and sub
brightness. Therefore, recheck SUB-BRIGHTNESS
and HIGH VOLTAGE.
HIGH VOLTAGE CHECK
1. Tune the receiver to the monochrome circure pattern.
2. Set the brightness and contrast to minimum.
3. Connect the high voltage probe(+) to anode lead of the pic-
ture tube and the ground (–).
4. High voltage must measure less than 30.5KV (25 “), 32.5KV
(29 “).
TUNING DISPLAY CENTER ADJUSTMENT
1. Tune the receiver to the monochrome circure pattern.
2. Press PRESET switch (SW713), and the tuning bar’ is dis-
played on the screen.
3. Adjust the tuning bar center by using VR791 on the Control
unit.
4. Press PRESET switch.

PURITY AND CONVERGENCE ADJUSTMENT
WTION; Convergence and Purity have been factoty aligned. Do not attempt to tamper with these alignments. However, the ef-
kcts of adjacent raceiver components, or replacement of picture tube or deflection yoke may require the need to reed@t putity
and convergence. If adjustment is required, the adjustments should be made in the following sequence.

Use a colour (Red, Green and Blue) pattern signal.
Receiver should be operated for at least ten minuter.
Place the picture tube face east or west and demagnetize the
picture tube and receiver using an external degaussmg coIl.
Turn off Red and Blue rasters and provide only Green raster
on CRT screen.
Loosen the screw holding the Deflection yoke and remove
the 3D.Y. wedges, and slide the Defection yoke fully
frontward.
Rotate the two purhy magnet tabs (widen or narrow the mutu-
al angle made by the two tabs) to centre avertical green
stripe.
(If the vertical green stripe doesn’t obtain. In case, slide the
deflection yoke backward).
N~E: Do not move the verhcal centre position by ad]ustmg
purity magnet
Slowly slide the Deflection yoke backward (or frontward) until
auniform green raster is obtained.
NOTE
If some part of screen is contaminated with other colors (in
most cases it will appear of corner of screen), put the Purity
correction magnet chip on back of that corner near the
deflection yoke,
See Figure-A to position the Purity correction magnet chip,
Slide and rotate the Purity correction magnet chip until pure
green screen is obtained,
Use necessary chips until uniform green is obtained overall
the screen.
Use the tape (or adhesive) to fix the magnet on the picture
tube.
Check the purify of the red and blue rasters for uniformity.
(Turn up red raster and turn off green and blue rasters.
Turn up blue raster and turn off green and red rasters).
Readjust the Deflection yoke position if necessary until all
rasters are pure.
If pan of the screen at each direction (east. west, north or
south) is colored, demagnetize the receiver and the pcfure
tube and adjust the Deflection yoke position slightly front
ward or backward.
Tighten the mounting screw of the Deflection yoke and
mount D.Y. wedges.

adpsted properly. Connect cross-hatch generator 10 aerial
socket.
