Please read the following precautions before using the interphone:
General rules:
◇Please keep the distance between the antenna and head to be about 2.5
centimeters when transmitter.
◇Please use the special accessories for this unit or the optional accessories produced by
the company, otherwise it may possibly cause trouble or damage to the interphone. For
the optional accessories produced by the company, you can inquiry with our distributor.
◇Please note that this product is using the common communication channel, if has other
users to set it in the same channel, it has the opportunity to receive the communication
signal transmitted by this product, you can also receive the signal from the other users.
◇Do not expose this unit to rain or any type of moisture.
◇This interphone is not a toy, please be careful not to be used by the children. Should
ensure this interphone to be used within the valid communication range.
◇ Please don’t try to change this interphone.

Environmental conditions
◇Avoid using under the improper environment, such as: dirt, moisture and extreme
high/low temp. environment. Operation under the environment of below humidity 85%
can reach better efficiency.
◇Close this interphone in the places sticking the notice that the interphone or mobile phone
is prohibited for using.
◇Avoid extruding LCD with heavy force, if so, the LCD will be damaged.
◇ Please don’t use this interphone in the places with high humidity and much dirt.
Battery
◇Avoid any conductor such as: jewelry, key or metal necklace to touch the end part of the
battery, if so, the conductor can cause short circuit and result in the battery is too hot or
exploding.
◇ If your product uses rechargeable battery(ies), charge the battery(ies) only in
accordance with the instructions and limitation specified in the User Manual.
Electromagnetic interference / Compatibility
◇Can not change the transmitting frequency, expand the transmitting power
freely(including to fix transmitting frequency power amplifier additionally), and can not
connect the antenna outside or change to use the other transmitting antenna freely.
◇Can not create harmful interference to all kinds of legal radio business when using. Once
the harmful interference is found, it must be stopped for using immediately, and it can not
be used continuously until the interference is eliminated by adopting measures.
◇When using the public interphone, its communication quality will not be protected by the
radio management body, and should bear the interference created by the other normal
working radio business possibly.
◇Prohibit to connect with the public telephone network, public mobile communication
network and other communication network.
◇All the functions of WT-558 have been preset before launched, except for
batteries, can not open the housing to change the electric circuit and components.
◇Almost each kind of electronic device will be affected by the Electromagnetic
interference easily. In order to avoid interference, don’t approach the electronic device
when using WT-558.

Remarks:
When you turn on the unit, LCD display will show all icons. After 1 second, the unit will go to
standby mode.

Battery Installation
1. Switch off the radio, rotate belt clip clockwise /anticlockwise by 90 degree.
2. Open the battery compartment door.
3. Insert batteries according to the anode-cathode signs shown inside battery
compartment
4. Close the battery compartment door.
Note:
1. Don’t mix new and old, different styles, alkaline or rechargeable or different capacity
battery.
2. There is a danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replaced only with the

same or equivalent type.
3. Attention should be drawn to the environmental aspects of battery disposal.
4. To avoid battery leakage, remove batteries if it is not used for a long time.
5. When the batteries are damaged, please disregard and dispose them with care. Do not
dispose of the batteries to heat source to avoid explosion.
Recharging Function
Low Battery Alert
When the battery level becomes low, the battery icon blinks twice in every second. When
the battery is too low, the unit will power off automatically. Please change the batteries. If
you use NIMH rechargeable batteries, please use supplied charging adaptor for charging.
Please do not charge it over 8 hours or the unit may not function properly.
Use charging adaptor for charging:
Connect the adaptor into socket and connect the charging jack hole (earphone jack) on
the top of the unit, you can charge two units at the same time. Battery icon appears on
the LCD when the unit is in charging. Battery icon disappears when the unit is fully
charged after 8 hours.

Note:
☆Please fully charge the rechargeable batteries before first time usage.
☆This is a danger of explosion or product damage if Alkaline batteries is placed inside
battery compartment for charging.
☆Please use only the supplied rechargeable batteries, AC/DC adaptors for charging,
otherwise may damage the unit or may cause explosion.
☆When the unit is power on and charging, PTT and CALL key is not activate.
Quick Start
A.Power On / Off
1. Power On: Rotate the power knob clockwise to turn on the radio, a click sound can be

heard when power on. Turn the power knob to desired volume level.
2. Power Off: Rotate the power knob anti-clockwise to power off the radio.
Remarks: When the walkie talkie is connected with the power supply or battery installed, it
will power on automatically.
B. Key Lock / Unlock Keypad
1. Press and hold MENU key for 2 seconds to lock the key, then LCD screen will display
key lock icon(Fig 1).
2. Only MENU key is activate when Key lock.
3. Repeat the above operation to unlock, the key lock icon on the LCD screen will
disappear.
C. Select the same channel
1. Press MENU key once to select channel selection CH menu(Fig 2).
2. Press ▲or ▼KEY , select your needed channel.
3. Press POWER key to confirm the channel and return to main screen
D. Subcode Selection
1. Press MENU key to enter SC setting(Fig 3).
2. Press ▲or ▼KEY to select SUB CODE(00-38).
3. Press POWER key to confirm the sub-code and return to main screen.
Remarks: If SUB CODE is 00, LCD display will not shown 00.
E. Make a Call
Press CALL key once to make a calling tone to your friend.
F. Transmitting Message
Press and hold PTT key to talk to other user, “”shows on the LCD screen to
indicate transmission status.
G. To Receive a Call
Release PTT or CALL key and wait for signal. shows on the LCD screen to
indicate radio is in receiving mode.
H. Talk Over Earphone
Simply plug the earphone into the Earphone Jack, press PTT key of the earphone
and speak.

Function Setting
A. Volume Level Adjustment
Rotate the power knob to desired volume level when power on the
phone.
B. Activate / Inactivate the (VOX)
User can can talk and communicate with each other without pressing and holding the
PTT button. There are 3 levels of selection (01-03).
1. Press MENU key to enter menu Vo setting.
2. Press ▲or ▼KEY to set sensitivity level (Fig 6-8) or OFF(Fig 5).
The higher sensitivity level, higher VOX/ MIC sensitivity.
The Lower sensitivity level, Lower VOX/MIC sensitivity.
3. Press POWER key to confirm the setting and return to main screen.
Remarks:
-- The default setting of VOX function is OFF.
-- When setting VOX ON, “VOX” shown on the LCD.
B. Activate / inactivate the Auto-scan of Channel
1. Press MENU key to enter menu Scan setting(Fig 9).
2. Press POWER key to start scanning, LCD will display “Scan”icon and channel
number of changed scanning(Fig 10).
3. Channel scanning stops once the signal is detected.
C. Activate / inactivate the Monitoring Function
User can activate the monitoring function under the weak signal so as to receive all the
signals in this channel.
2. Press MENU key to enter menu M setting(Fig 11).
3. Press POWER key to activate the monitoring function and return to the main screen
automatically.
Activate the monitoring function: Low anti-interference capability, longer distance
can be achieved.
Close the Monitoring Function: High anti-interference capability, shorter distance
can be achieved.
Remarks:
-- Under the monitoring status, press the MENU key, it will close the monitoring function
automatically.
-- Under the monitoring status, Press PTT key, call key, ▲or ▼KEY, the monitoring
status is unchanged.

1. Press MENU key to enter menu CL setting(Fig 12).
2. Press ▲or ▼KEY to select Call Tone(01-05), Call tone demonstration will be heard in
each selection.
3. Press POWER key to confirm the setting and return to main screen.
Remarks: The default setting of Call Tone is 01.
E. Selecting the Key Beep
Activate / Inactive the key beep according to your own preference.
1. Press MENU key to enter menu KB setting.
2. Press ▲or ▼KEY to set key beep to be On(Fig 13)or OF(Fig 14).
3. Press POWER key to confirm the key beep setting and return to the main screen.
Remarks: The default setting of key beep is ON.
F. Selecting the Roger Beep
When the another party has activated the Roger Beep Function, the user can hear an
ending tone (roger beep) when ending the talk.
1. Press MENU key to enter menu R setting.
2. Press ▲or ▼KEY to set the Roger Beep to be On(Fig 15)or OF(Fig 16).
3. Press POWER key to confirm and return to the main screen.
Remarks: The default setting of roger beep is ON.
G. High Low Output Power selection
1. Press MENU key to enter power selection menu HP setting.
2. Press ▲or ▼KEY to set power to be On(Fig 17)or OF(Fig 18).
OF: Higher transmission power, longer distance, but high battery consumption.
On: Low transmission power, shorter distance, but low battery consumption.
3. Press POWER key to confirm and return to the standby mode.
Remarks: The default setting is OFF.
Other Functions setting
LCD Backlight
LCD Backlight would be on for 5 seconds once any key is pressed.
Return to the main screen automatically
When the menu is pressed, if there is no operation in 10 seconds, it will return to the main
screen automatically.

All setting set before the radio is off are memorized and will automatically resume to it when
turning on the radio again, The unit will return to the previous setting when it is activated
again.
Fast Changing of Channels
Use ▲or ▼KEY to select the menu or adjust channels, sub-code, volume, etc., it will
change the number sequentially if you press the UP or DOWN key for more than 1 second.

Communication Environment
1. General communication environment(the following figure 1)
a. Within the communication range, there is no equipment produces the interference
signal which power is more than or equal to output power of WT-558, for example
high voltage power cable, radio station & etc.
b. Within the communication range and under open area, there is no large-scale
buildings with metal act as the block.
2. Perfect communication environment(the following figure 2)
Based on above 2 general communication environments and under open areas,
communication range can be over 10 km when 2 communicators are positioned at
horizontal straight sight.
3. Poor communication environment(the following figure 3)

If the following abnormal conditions appear when using or recharging, please take out the

Trouble Shooting
Problem Solution
No Power Reposition or replace batteries.
Message Not Transmitted 1. Make sure the PTT button is completely pressed as you
transmit.
2. Make sure the microphone hole has not been block.
3. Reposition or replace batteries.
Message Not Received 1. Confirm radios have the same channel and sub-code
setting.
2. Make sure PTT is not inadvertently being pressed.
3. Reposition or replace batteries.
4. Obstructions operating indoors or in vehicles may
interfere with communication. Change your location.
Check to make sure volume is loud enough to be heard.
Hearing Other
Conversation / Noise from
the other walkie talkie or
channel
1. Confirm this channel or sub-code is being used.
2. Try another channel and sub-code.
Limited Talk Range 1. Steel/concrete structures between each other, heavy
foliage will decrease communication range, check for
clear line of sight to improve transmission.
2. Wearing radio close to body such as in a pocket or on a
belt will decrease range, change location of radio.
Heavy Static or Interference 1. Radio are too close to each other. Radio must be at
least 2 meters apart, increase your distance.
2. Radio are too far apart. Obstacles interfere with
transmission.
3. Talk range is up to 10 km in clear and unobstructed
conditions.
kaypad cannot work 1. The keys are locked, please unlock the key lock firstly.
2. The key will be frozen temporarily when the radio is
transmitting. If you press the PTT suddenly, please
release it.
3. Under the VOX condition, it will also make a transmission
even if you do not press the PTT, you can close the radio
to activate it again.
