THE DEVICE - LED INDICATOR
GREEN LIGHT RED LIGHT BLUE LIGHTYELLOW LIGHT
TO TURN ON:
Press and hold the power key for 5 seconds
When flashing, it
indicates the pen is
booting up
When flashing, it
indicates the pen has
a low battery
When flashing, it
indicates the pen
is connecting to a
device
When solid, it
indicates the pen’s
battery is charged
When solid, it
indicates the pen is
charging
When solid, it
indicates the pen is
connected
TO TURN OFF:
Press and hold the power key for 4 seconds
TO PUT IN SLEEP MODE:
Press power button briefly
TO GET OUT OF SLEEP MODE:
Press any button briefly to power on

THE APP
AVAILABLE IN THE APPLE APP STORE AND GOOGLE PLAY STORE
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ARE: iOS 10 or Android 5
Once the Connect app has
downloaded to your device, open up
the app and select ‘Get started’.
The message “Turn on ” will appear,
(by pressing the power button for a
few seconds, until the indicator light
is flashing green and after a while
blue) this will pair the device and pen.
Once the pen has paired with the
App, the screen will change and the
message ‘Ok, Great!’ will appear. Click
onto the message and it will take you
to the work space where you can
scan away.

Once you have clicked “Ok, Great!” it
will take you to this main work space
screen where you can start to scan.
After scanning text it will appear in
the middle of the screen.
Tap the text on the work space to see
more features, you will find functions
like read, share, translate, and edit.
To hear the scanned text read aloud
tap the ‘Read out loud’ icon which will
you find next to the translation icon.

In order to translate the text, click
onto the translation icon. Select your
preferred language from the list in the
lower right corner of the app.
To hear the text aloud in your chosen
language, select the icon with the
speech bubble.
To change languages you can click each side and choose from the
following: Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English, French, Italian, Norwegian,
Russian, Spanish, and Swedish
While on the main screen, if you click
on the trash can you will be able
to clear the last text you scanned.
Clearing this text will also remove it
from the archive.
Clicking on Archive will take you to
everything you have scanned. To
access file options, you click on the
three dots. When choosing ‘share’ you
can upload your file to cloud drive or
share with a messenger app. Clicking
delete will erase the saved file.

In order to save a file, click onto the
share icon which you will find the
bottom right of the app.
You can upload a text file to a cloud
drive, share it with a messenger app,
or send in an email.
In the top right corner, you will find
the icon that takes you to settings.
Tap scan language to select your
preferred language (Chinese, Danish,
Dutch, English, French, German, Italian,
Norwegian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish).
To select speech language tap ‘text-to-
speech language’ unless changed the
speech language will synchronise with
the scan language.
SCAN MODE: Set whether each piece of scanned text
should be replaced or appended to the existing text
SCAN SEPARATOR: Inserts a character or command
between each scan, you have a choose of ‘none’, ‘space’,
‘Tab’ or ‘Line feed’
BUBBLE HELP: Makes coaching information reappear
after each scan
AUTO SPEECH: Your scanned text will automatically be
read out loud, you can adjust the ‘Speech speed’ and
‘Speed pitch’
PEN FUNCTION KEY ACTION: Can trigger last scan to be
read out loud, or it can trigger workspace to be shared
PEN SLEEP TIME: Set time for the pen to go into sleep
mode
PEN SHUTDOWN TIME: Set time for the pen to auto
shut down

HINTS & TIPS
CONNECTIVITY
When connecting for first time make sure only one
device is within Bluetooth range.
You can use a ruler as a guide under any text aid when scanning
the sentence.

Hold the Connect pen at an 85-degree
angle, gripping fingers around the base
of the pen, this will give you a better grip.
In order to scan any text, the Connect pen needs to be 2cm away from the
start of a sentence.
To start scanning, the text needs to be within the middle of the plastic
bracket, making sure the nib is pressed down and the camera light is
highlighting the text.
