GAME ON
6 Headphone Output. Plug your headphones in
here. If you are using headphones with a headset
microphone, plug the green plug from the Y-adapter
that is usually included with your headphones.
You may also need to use the included 1/4” to 1/8”
adapter. Do not use a TRRS plug; it will not work.
7 Analog Input. If you’d like to use your Hel as an
amplier for another analog source (like, if you still
have a phone with a headphone jack), plug it in
here with a 1/8” stereo TRS plug.
1 Volume Knob. Turn up til you smile, but not until
your ears bleed.
2 Microphone Level. If you’re using a mic, turn up
til people can hear you, but not until you sound like
you have a 4-pack-a-day cigarette habit.
3 Microphone Input. If you’re using a headset
microphone, connect it using the pink plug on the
Y-adapter that is usually included with your head-
phones. Do not use a TRRS jack; it will not work.
Note: Some games will need you to set
sound preferences for best results. See
schiit.com/guides/gaming for more information.
4 Input Select. Up to hear the USB input, down to
hear the analog input on the back panel.
5 Gain Select. Up for louder, down for quieter (or if
you are using the line output on the back panel.)

8 Preamp Output. Plug this in to your powered
monitors (or a power amp) using a 1/8” TRS to
dual RCA cable (for most products--others may
need different cables, consult the manufacturer.)
9 USB Power Input. Hel NEEDS a power input from
the supplied 2.1A wall-wart. Connect this with one
of the provided micro USB cables.
10 USB Data Input. Connect this to your USB
source using a provided micro USB cable, or with
another USB 2.0-rated, high-quality micro USB
cable.
11 Power Switch. Up is on, down is off. It needs to
be on for your computer to see Hel.
HEL OPERATION
Most modern devices won’t need drivers, but if
you’re still using Windows 7, drivers are available at
schiit.com/drivers
Select “Schiit Hel” in Control Panel/Sound Devices
(PC) or in System Prefs/Sound (Mac) for both audio
output and mic input, if you’re using the mic.
Some music players will also need to be set to
“Schiit Hel” separately, and some games may need
to set NOT to take over the mic level, but other than
that, it’s smooth sailing.
That’s it! Enjoy the game—or some music!
