The ST407330V,2APower Supply hasbeendesignedasa constantcurrent(CC)
and constantvoltage(CV) sourceforlaboratories,industriesandfieldtesting
applications,featuringlowpowerloss,compactandlightweight.Itprovidesfloating,
DCoutputvoltagesandisideallysuitableforcomplexanaloganddigitalapplications.
TheDCoutputcanbecontinuouslyadjustedfrom0-30Vwithcoarseandfine
controls.Currentlimitisalsoadjustablefrom 0-2A.Anyoverloadingforadjusted
currentlimit,isindicatedbyflashing"CC"LED.Whenthemaximum setting is
crossedortheoverheatinghasoccurred,theLEDwilllitup.
A3-digitdisplayforvoltageandcurrentisusedtoreadtheinstantaneousvalues.
Thesetwoparametersareswitchableforindicating eithervoltageorcurrent.In
additiontolowresidualrippleandnoise,ithasexcellentlineandloadregulation.The
30V-2APowerSupplyisalsoprovidedwithall protectivecircuitstoensuretrouble
freeoperation.

GeneralInformation:
Thelogicalfrontpanellayoutof 30V-2APowerSupply makesiteasytobecome
familiarwiththeoperationoftheinstruments.However,evenexperiencedusers
shouldreadthefollowinginstructionsthoroughlybeforeusingtheinstrument.
Afterunpacking theinstrument,checkforanymechanicaldamageorlooseparts
inside.Shouldtherebeanytransportationdamage,informthesupplierimmediately
anddonotputtheinstrumentintooperation.
Safety:
Thecasechassisandallmeasuringpartsareconnectedtotheprotectiveearthcontact
oftheinlet.Themainsplugshallonlybeinsertedinasocketoutletprovidedwitha
protectiveearthcontact.Theprotectiveactionmustnotbenegatedbytheuseofan
extensioncordwithoutaprotectiveConductor.
Warning!
Anyinterruptionoftheprotective conductorinsideoroutsidetheinstrumentor
disconnection oftheprotectiveearthterminalislikelytomaketheinstrument
dangerous.Intentionalinterruptionisprohibited.Themains/lineplug shouldbe
insertedbeforeconnectionsaremadetomeasuringcircuits.
Whenremovingthemetalcaseorreplacing,theinstrumentmustbecompletely
disconnectedfromthemainssupply. Ifanymeasurementorcalibrationproceduresare
unavoidableontheopened-up instrument,thesemustonlybecarriedoutbyqualified
personnelacquaintedwiththedangerinvolved.
OperatingConditions:
Theambienttemperaturerangeduringoperationshouldbebetween0°-40°Cand
shouldnotexceed-20°Cor+70°Cduringtransportationorstorage.Theoperational
positionshouldbenormalhowever;theventilationholesonthe 30V,2APower
Supply mustnotbeobstructed.Priortocalibrationapreheatrunofapproximately30
minutesisrequired.

FirstTimeOperation:
Afterunpackingtheinstrumentcheckforanymechanicaldamages.Theinstrument
shouldbepluggedinmains-plugofpropermainssupply230V±10%.Switch‘On’
theinstrument, thepower‘On’isindicatedbylighting ofdisplays.
Operation:
ThePowerSupplyhasanelectricallyfloatingoutput.Thispermitseasyseries
connectionwithotherPowerSupplyunits,toincreasesupplyvoltageorcurrent
respectively.
Theoutputpowerofthe 30V-2APowerSupply isnotactivatedbyswitchingonthe
instrument.Thisisforprotectionoftheload,connectedtotheoutput. Pushbutton (2)
shouldbenotactivateduntilall settingsaremade.Thispushbuttonisalsousefulfor
disconnectingthesourcefromtheloadforanyreason.Thedigitaldisplayalways
showstheactualvaluesofvoltageandcurrent.Thevoltagedisplayisactivealso
whentheoutputsaredisabled,thuspermitsvoltageadjustmentpriortoconnecting
anyload.

FunctionalChecks
The 30V-2APower Supply shouldregularlybetestedtoassureproperfunctioning.
Thefollowingtestchecksoutthepowersuppliesperformance andsuggestionsfor
adjustingspecificvalues.Theadjustmentwill onlybemeaningfulifthebelow
indicatedorequivalentinstrumentsareused.Priortothefunctionaltestoradjustment,
theinstrumentshouldbeonforatleast30minutes.
MeasuringInstrumentsrequired:
1. 4½DigitDMM;4011 Handheldorequivalent
2. 20MHzOscilloscope;Caddo802orequivalent
3. Rheostat:100 Ω-2A; 17 Ω-5.5A
TestProcedure:
0-30VDCoutput
1. CheckofmaximumDCoutputvoltage: SettheCoarseandFineknobsto
maximum,themaximumDCoutputreadingshouldbebetween31Vand33 V.
ThisalsocanbeverifiedonDMM.
2. Checkofminimum DCoutputvoltage: SettheCoarseandFineknobsto
minimum,theminimumDCoutputreading shouldbe00.0Volts,whichwhen
measuredonDMMwill beapproximately25mVforloadresistorof<5KΩ.
3. Checkofminimum currentlimitsetting: SetDCoutputto10V&shortcircuit
theoutputterminals.Adjustcurrentlimitknob Imaxtominimumthereadingon
thedisplayshouldbe<100mA.
4. Checkofmaximum.Outputcurrent: SettheDCoutputvoltageto10V.Short-
circuittheoutputterminals.AdjusttheImaxcurrentlimit knobtomaximum,the
reading onthedisplay,shouldbebetween2.02Aand2.2A.
5. Checkofover loadIndicators: Settheinstrumentasin3.Whentheoutput
terminalsareshortcircuited,CC LEDshouldlightup.
6. Checkofresidualrippleand noise: ConnectanyloadonDCoutputandadjust
theImax,tomaximum(maximumto2000mA), andchecktherippleandnoiseon
oscilloscope,therippleandnoiseshouldnotbemorethan1mVrms.
