1. Function of the Control Board (PC board)
1.1 Cooling
●The in oor temperature is monitore by the room temperature sensor. The temperature is
controlle by the cyclic switch of the compressor un er which is controlle by the Control
Boar .
●Compressor startup is etermine when the room temperature is more than or equal to
Ts+3.6
℉
(Ts is the setpoint temperature). When this occurs, the compressor, con enser fan,
an insi e blower fan starts.
●When the setpoint is satisfie as etermine by the temperature sensor, the compressor,
con enser fan, an the blower fan will stop. This cycle will start again when the
temperature rises as notes before.
a. Working curve for temperature control
1.2 Freeze protection and frost protection function of unit
●When the out oor coil temperature is less than or equal to 57 ºF, the compressor will not
run. The blower will continue to run at its set spee .
●After the compressor runs continuous for over 3 minutes an if coil pipe temperature of
insi e is continuously ≤ 5ºF for over 3 minutes, then the compressor will shut off. The blower
fan will continue to run. The system will restart after 6 minutes. If the system goes into this
con ition again, the unit will shut own an isplay error co e of E8.(See Error Co e
Chart)
1.3Heating
●The in oor temperature is monitore by the room temperature sensor. The temperature is
controlle by the cyclic switch of the compressor un er which is controlle by the Control
Boar .
●Normally, in heating mo e, the compressor an the outsi e blower fan will start. The Four-

way valve will open when the compressor starts.
●In the efrost mo e, the outsi e blower fan stops an the four-way valve will close. The
compressor will stop for 2 minutes before restarting efrost process.
● In the heating mo e, the Blower fan will run at the set spee while the electric heater is
operating, when the electric heater stops. The blower fan will shut own after running on
low spee for 15 secon s.

When Heat Pump an electric heat is working the system will operate as follows:
(Tp= In oor coil temperature, Tr=Room temperature, Ts=Temperature setpoint)
1. If Tp≥78
℉
an Tp≥Tr+9ºF, Blower fan will start an run.
2. Tp≤64
℉
or Tp
<
Tr+9ºF Blower fan will stop (to eliminate col air raft)
3. Tp≥78
℉
an Tr+9f ≤Tp
<
Tr+18 ºF Blower fan will run at set spee after running for 5 minutes at
low spee .
4.Tp≥78
℉
an Tp≥Tr+18 ºF Blower fan will run at set spee after running for 2 minutes at low spee .
5. When the compressor starts, Blower fan will run at set spee . If Outsi e temperature is below
47ºF, the heat pump portion if the unit will not work. All heat will be obtaine by the operation of
the Electric heaters.
●When the room temperature is less than Ts-3.6ºF (Ts is the setpoint temperature), the
compressor an out oor fan will run.
●When the room temperature is more than or equal to the set temperature (Ts), the
compressor an out oor fan will shut own.
●In or er for the electric heat to operate, the following con itions must be met:
①
The compressor, out oor fan, an the in oor blower fan must be operating
②
The room temperature
≤
the set temperature (Ts)
-
5.4ºF an the room temperature
≤
73.4ºF
③
the temperature of in oor coil (Tp) < 122ºF
●The electric heat will shut- own in the heating mo e on any of the following con itions:
①
The compressor or in oor blower fan stops
②
The room temperature ≥ the set temperature
-
5.4ºF an room temperature ≥73.4ºF
③
the temperature of insi e coil pipe > 122ºF
●To purge latent heat from the unit, the in oor fan will operate for 50 secon s after the
electric heat (or heat pump function) stops.

When in heat mo e the Heat pump function operates exclusively to provi e heat. If the eman for
heat is greater than the Heat Pump can supply, the electric heat strips will activate to supplement
the heat pump. The heat strips will only work between 73.4 an 78.8 ºF.
If the setpoint is within this range, when the room temperature becomes satisfie , the Electric heat
will shut off.
1.4 Overheat protect on of evaporator (only appl cable In heat mode)
●This function is to prevent overheating insi e the evaporator.
●When the temperature of in oor coil rises to 142ºF, the compressor an out oor blower
fan will stop, an two minutes later, the reversing valve is close (heat pump mo els only).
The blower fan will continue to run at the set spee . When the temperature of in oor coil ≤
122ºF, it can reenter heat mo e.
●When the temperature of the in oor coil ≥ 133ºF, the outsi e blower fan shuts own an
the system will enter overloa protection. When the coil temperature of the insi e unit is ≤
125.6ºF, normal operation will resume.
1.5 Defrosting
●The system will enter efrost un er the following con itions:
①
The compressor has been running (in heat mo e) for over 7 minutes.
②
The outsi e coil temperature
≤
-9ºF
③
Defrost time is etermine by the operating time of the compressor. If the compressor
has been running for over 30 minutes an efrost is require (base on Items 1 &2 above)
efrost cycle will be over 10 minutes in length. If the compressor has been running for over
40 minutes, the efrost time will be between 7 an 10 minutes in length. If compressor has
been running for more than 50 minutes, the efrost time will be between 4 an 7 minutes
in length. If the compressor has been running for over 60 minutes, the efrost time will be
less than 4 minutes.
•In or er to etermine efrost termination, one of the following con itions must be met:
①
System has been in efrost for over 10 minutes
②
Outsi e coil temperature > 7ºF

③
Unit is turne off or mo e is change uring the efrost cycle.
1.6 Fan Mode
In the fan mode, the compressor and the condenser fan is off, and the indoor blower fan will operate at the set speed.
1.7 Automatic mode
●Automatic mo e:
After power-up press on/off key an select the automatic operating mo e. Blower spee
will run at high spee . The following chart escribes programme temperatures for the
Automatic mo e. These temperatures are programme from the factory an cannot be
change . Timer function will not operate in Automatic mo e.

1.8 Start and Stop Timer functions
If the unit is “ON” pressing the timer button will create a shut own time. The isplay will show 1
to 12 hours (I.E. 2
H
). Pressing the hour button will increase the time until shut own.
If the unit is “OFF” pressing the timer button will create a startup time. The isplay will show 1 to
12 hours (I.E. 2
H
). Pressing the hour button will increase the time until startup.
If either timer is active, pressing the timer button again will cancel the timer.
1.9 Abnormal Operation

PAGE 7
In cool mo e, if the unit isplays “E4”, this in icates that the in oor coil is not less than the
room temperature – 5.4ºF for over 5 minutes. Unit will enter protect mo e an shut own.
When unit is starte in heat mo e, if the compressor runs for more than 20 minutes an the coil
temperature has not reache sufficient temperature, the Unit will enter protect mo e, isplay
“E4”, an shut own.
When operating in heat mo e, If the compressor runs continuous for more than 35 minutes,
an the in oor fan hasn’t starte , the unit will enter protect mo e, isplay “E4”, an shut
own.
After the compressor continuous running over twenty minutes an insi e blower fan
continuous stop running or compressor continuous running an insi e blower fan stop
continuous 35 minutes at first turn on in heating mo e, system isplay E4 an shut own.
1.10 Error codes
