Getting to Know Your SecureStart™
Prepare Your SecureStart™ Before First Use
STEP 1: Upon purchase, disconnect the external 13-cell D size alkaline battery pack
that is connected with a wire connector to the SecureStart™ by pulling the connecting
wire out. Discard this 13-cell alkaline battery pack.
STEP 2: Insert and connect the jumper link into the unit. Mount the jumper cover
plate with the screw. The jumper link is to connect the built-in NiMH battery to replace
the discarded 13 D-size cell alkaline battery for backup purpose.
Note: The 13 D-size cell alkaline battery is for backing up the SecureStart™ Lead Acid
battery during storage before sales for limited period only.
WARNING: DO NOT allow the cable clamps to TOUCH each other! The
cable clamps carry electrical current at all times. If they touch each other, severe
sparks may cause personal injury and battery explosion. Use only the wall
adaptor supplied with your SecureStart™ for charging. To avoid damage, do not

Jump-Starting Your Vehicle
IMPORTANT: Check the vehicle cranking system voltage first (12V or 24V)
before use.
1. Turn vehicle ignition switch to OFF before accessing battery in vehicle or connecting cable
clamps to vehicle battery.
2. Open hood of vehicle and position SecureStart™ away from fan blades, belts, pulleys or any
other moving parts.
3. Make sure that the selector switch of the SecureStart™ is at ‘OFF’ position.
4. Connect the Red positive (+) cable clamp first to the vehicle battery’s positive (+) terminal.
Rotate clamp slightly to ensure a good connection.
5. Connect the Black negative (-) cable clamp last to vehicle chassis, engine block, hanging
hook or other unpainted, non-moving metal surface that is away from the vehicle battery.
Rotate clamp slightly to ensure a good connection.
6. Turn the selector-switch on the SecureStart™ to the vehicle cranking system voltage.
IMPORTANT: Turn to the wrong voltage will damage the vehicle electrical system.
7. Turn vehicle ignition switch and start the engine.
8. If you intend to crank another engine immediately it is recommended to leave the cable
clamps of SecureStart™ connected for 3 minutes to allow a top up charge from the alternator
of the idling vehicle.
9. Turn the selector switch to ‘OFF’ position after used to prevent accidental short circuit of the
clamps and to allow recharge from the wall adaptor.
10. Disconnect the Black negative (-) cable clamp first and place it to its storage position in
your SecureStart™.
11. ONLY after removing and storing the Black negative (-) cable clamp, disconnect the Red
positive (+) cable clamp last from the vehicle battery positive (+) terminal and place it to its
storage position in your SecureStart™.
12. It is mandatory to recharge your SecureStart™ immediately with wall adaptor for at least 4
hours.
Note: The SecureStart™ has successfully cranked on 12L diesel engine.

IMPORTANT
Read All Instructions And Safety Warnings
Before Using SecureStart™
Warning / Safety Information
1. Read and follow all instructions in this manual before using the SecureStart™.
2. Follow all instructions published by the automobile and vehicle battery manufacturers,
especially the procedure of jump-starting of a vehicle.
3. KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
4. NEVER ALLOW cable clamps (“+” & “-“) to TOUCH each other. Cable clamps are “live” at all
times, and will spark once they touch, SecureStart™ will generate heat too. Always ensure
clamps are stowed securely in clamp holders when not connected for jump-starting.
5. Check the vehicle cranking system voltage first (12V or 24V) before use. Turn the selector-
switch on the SecureStart™ to the correct vehicle cranking system voltage. Turn to the
wrong voltage will damage the vehicle electrical system.
6. ALWAYS VERIFY vehicle battery positive terminal (RED “+”) before connecting cable clamps
to battery. Be aware of connecting sequence.
7. Handle SecureStart™ and vehicle battery with care while jump-starting a vehicle. Vehicle
batteries generate hydrogen gas during normal battery operation, such gas may cause
explosion with a spark. Care should be taken to ensure sparks are not generated near the
vehicle battery. Sparks occur when connecting or disconnecting leads. Keep sparks and
flames away from batteries.
8. Keep hands and cables clear of fan blades, belts pulleys and other moving parts when
working near a running engine. Remove jewelry, watch and loose clothing when near the
engine compartment. Take extra care to protect eyes during jump-starting.
9. Do not charge the SecureStart™ in wet or moist locations through the DC charging jack.
Severe electrical shock may result.
10. Do not charge the SecureStart™ in an airtight container, provide adequate ventilation during
charging.
11. Do not attempt to disassemble the SecureStart™. Do not cut any cables or wires on this
product. The TMF®power pack contained within your unit is capable of generating very high
current. This current may cause severe burns or personal injury.
12. Use your SecureStart™ to jump-start vehicles that run with lead-acid battery only.
13. Never immerse SecureStart™ into water or seawater.
14. Keep SecureStart™ away from sunlight, hot and high humidity environment. Do not store
with metal parts such as tools and wires etc.
15. SecureStart™ contains non-spill-able sealed lead-acid batteries. Under normal and
appropriate use, the product is safe and there is no exposure to lead.
