1. Installation of the printer.
1. Make sure your computer has the latest Microsoft updates. Click the Windows key and type in the update. Up-
date and restart your computer if necessary. This is VERY important because security is prioritised in Windows.
Sometimes an un-updated computer can cause problems with printing, so be sure to ALWAYS update and re-
start your computer if you have printing problems.
2. Install the printer and connect the USB cable to the computer.
Always use the same USB port on the computer, otherwise multiple printers will be installed. Identify the USB
port.
3. Connect the power cable.
4. Turn on the printer for automatic installation.
5. If the printer is not installed automatically, insert the CD supplied with the printer and follow the instructions. It is
also recommended that you use the latest drivers for your printer. These can be found at www.cab.de
6. Once the printer is installed, go to the Start Menu, Windows System, Control Panel, and then view the devices
and printers.

7. Right click on your printer and select "Printer Properties".
8. In the "Printer settings" tab, tick the box "Always use driver settings" and press "OK".
9. Right click on your printer and select "Print Options".

10. Set the default settings "Speed" and "Darkness".
Speed 50mm/s and Darkness 7 are the settings that work well for most products to be printed.
Then click "OK".
This step is performed to facilitate later the print settings in the PLIOMARK PRINT software.
You have now completed the basic printer settings and can proceed to the next step in the guide.

2. Installation of the printer, the product to be printed and the ribbon.
1. The printer is equipped with a label detection sensor. If the product to be printed has a recurring perforation,
place the sensor over the perforation. This can be placed in different places depending on the product to be prin-
ted.
2. To adjust the position of the sensor in front of the hole, press the side pin. Turn the pin to position the sensor.
Once the adjustment is made, it is important to return the side pin to its initial position so that the print head can
be locked properly.
3. If you are using products to be printed without perforation, place the sensor directly on the product to be printed.
The sensor will detect the gap between the labels.

4. Install the product to be printed as shown below, and make sure it slides easily between the guides. Adjust the
guides by turning the adjustment wheel.
5. There are specific ribbons available depending on the products to be printed. You will find below the recommen-
ded ribbons for each product. For a complete list and the latest information on ribbons and products, visit
www.ses-sterling.com or consult our catalogue. The tapes are available in different colours and widths.
Install the ribbon as shown below.
To rewind the ribbon, a cardboard core of at least the same width as the original roll is required. Adjust the posi-
tion of the positioning flange of the rewinder to the width of the core, and position the cardboard core on the re-
winder.
Guide the transfer ribbon through the printing mechanism.
Secure the beginning of the transfer ribbon with adhesive tape in the middle of the core. Observe the direction of
rotation of the rewinder, counterclockwise.
Turn the rewinder counterclockwise to smooth the transfer ribbon.
Lock the print head.
Refer to the supplied manual for more information.

6. Press the "Feed" button on the printer.
The printer is now ready for printing.

3. Installation of the PLIOMARK PRINT Software
Use with the EOS 5 printer or a LASER desktop printer
1. Go to www.ses-sterling.com, Products / Software and media to download the PLIOMARK PRINT software.
2. Choose the software version (free or full).
3. Follow the installation instructions.
4. Start the program and complete the registration.
The license key for the full version was given to you when you purchased the printer.
5. You are now ready to use the PLIOMARK PRINT software.

4. Use of the software
1. Choose the product you wish to print and click on "OK".
You can sort by "marking type", "printer type" and "product family" to easily find the product you need to print.
2. Select in "Guide" the column in the "Table Window" in which you want the text to be printed, and close "Guide".
This window can be opened at any time by clicking on "Guide".
Normally, you enter your data in column A of the "Table Window". The choice of column A is indicated by the [A]
on the label in the "Label Window".
Your text appears in the "Preview Window" at the bottom left.
Note that you have to click in the window you are going to work in, otherwise all the
functions are locked (gray), including printing.
Different functions are enabled depending on the active window.

3. Now set the printer settings for this product to be printed.
Each product to be printed can save its own print settings, allowing you to quickly start printing when the product
to be printed is selected.
4. On the "Label" tab, there are the "Select device" and "Store setting" boxes. Click on these boxes and then click
on "Setup".
5. Select your printer from the list by pressing .
As you made the basic printer settings in step 1 of this guide "Install the printer", you do not usually need to
change the "Properties", but to check this, press "Properties".
When you have completed your changes, press "OK".
6. Desktop laser printer.
If you are using a desktop printer to print sheets or cards, there is usually a paper adjustment to be made. If "la-
bels" is available, use this option. Otherwise, select the setting for thick paper. With these settings, the printer
will generally run slower but the result will be better.
You can change your print
speed here (50 is generally
recommended).

Now press the "Save label" button.
With this button you can save the settings of the label template.
This saves all the settings for printing the label.
The result may vary depending on the printer model.
Change the "Margins" value if required.
7. You can now print your label.
Press the "Print" button.
8. Press the "Save" button to save your complete project.
This saves all your work, including the label template and the text you have entered in the table.
9. If you have any questions, please contact the SES-STERLING support service.

5. Creating a new project
1. Create a new project and choose a label (Home tab)
2. Select the source of information (number of lines, location of texts...) and the layout on the label.

Different types of data can be set in the upper banner.
Select the text box in the label window to activate the upper banner.
- Identical text entry on all labels.
- Entering text from the table window or an Excel file (see chapter 6).
- Entering a date (can be set in the Format tab).
- Entering a time.
- Entering an automatic increment (can be set in the Format tab).

6. Text from an Excel file
1. Import an Excel file (Table tab)
2. Select the Excel file you wish to print.
Only the .xls format is compatible.
3. Select the worksheet if the file contains multiple tabs.
4. Choose a label (Home tab), and check the corresponding boxes (see chapter 5).

7. Barcode and QR Code
1. Create a new project and choose a label (Home tab)
2. Close the pattern wizard without checking a box.
3. Select Barcode (Home tab) and draw an area in the label window, select the barcode, and then adjust the mo-
dule and height.
Test the reading of your QR Code (or Barcode) on a sample.
If reading is difficult or impossible, change its size.

8. Creating a sequence
1. Create a new project and choose a label (Home tab), and tick the corresponding boxes (see chapter 5)
2. Select the area of the table window to activate the menu
3. Select the Sequence function (Table tab)
4. Fill in the different fields for the sequence (prefix, start etc...)

1. Create a new project and choose a label (Home tab)
2. Check the Insert Image box
