2. General
2.1. GPA-Ⅳ series
circulation motor pump

To avoid condensation in control box and the stator, the temperature of liquid
pumped by the motor pump must be always higher than ambient temperature.

3.7. Pumping Liquid
The pumping liquid includes thin, clean, non-corrosive and non-explosive
liquid which shall not contain any solid particles, fiber or mineral oil, and the
pump must definitely not be used to pump inflammable liquid such as rapeseed
oil and gasoline. If the pump is used in a place with relatively high v is co si t y,
th e p u mp h a s lo w e r performance. So when choosing a pump, the viscosity
of liquid must be taken into account.

4. Installation
4.1Installation
· When installing GPA -Ⅳseries circulating pump, the arrow on motor pump case
indicates the flow direction of liquid through the pump.
· When installing the motor pump in the p ip eline, two supplied gaskets must
be installed at the inlet and outlet.
· During the installation, the shaft of motor pump must be horizontal.

4.2Position of Junction Box

The junction box can be rotated in a step of 45°
The procedure for changing the position of junction box are as follows:
1.Close the valves at the inlet and outlet and release the pressure;
2.Unscrew and remove the four socket head screws that fasten the pump body;
3.Rotate the motor to the expected position and align the four screw holes;
4.Install the four socket head screws again and fasten them clockwise;
5.Open the valves at the inlet and outlet.

Warning
Pumping liquid may be high-temperature and high-pressure; therefore,
the liq u i d i n t h e s y s t e m mu st be completely drained or the valves
on both sides of motor pump must be closed before removing the socket
head screws.
When changing the position of junction box, the motor pumpcan be
started only after the system is filled with pumping liquid or the valves
on both sides of motor pump are opened.

5. Electrical Connection
GPA-IV

Electrical connection and protection shall comply with local codes and norms.
Warning
The motor pump must be earthed
The motor pump must be connected to an external power switch,
and the minimum space between all the electrodes is 3mm.
·GPA -Ⅳseries circulating motor pump needs no protection from external motor.
·Check if the supply voltage and frequency are the same as parameters indicated
on the nameplate of the motor pump.
·Connect the motor pump and power supply with the plug supplied together with
the pump.
·After the power is supplied, the indicator lamp on the control panel is ON.

6.4Button for selecting motor pump settings
By pressing the button once at 2 seconds interval, the motor pump setting
mode will change once.
A cycle is cons ti tuted of every four presses o n th e button. For details,
please refer to Section 6.3.

·AUTO (Self Adaptive Mode) mode can adju s t th e pe rfor m ance of m otor
pump based on the actual heat demand of the system. As th e p erformanc e
is adjusted gradually, it is suggested, before changing motor pump setting,
to maintain AUTO (Automatically Adapt iv e Mode) mode setting for at lea st
one week.
·If you select to change back to AUTO (Se l f Ad apti v e M o d e ) m o d e , t h e
GPA series motor pump can memorize i t s l a s t s e t ting in AUTO m ode and
continue adjusting the performance automatically.
·It may take several minutes or even hours to re a ch t he o p tima l op e ration
mode after motor pump setting is changed from t h e o p t i m a l s e t t i n g ( t h e
“Recom m e n d e d a b o v e m e n t i o n ” ) t o o t h e r o p t i o n a l s e t t i n g . I f t h e
opt i m a l s e t t i n g o f m o t o r pu m p f a il s t o enable e a c h r o o m t o o b t a i n
d e s i r e d h e a t d i s t r i b u t i o n , t h e n y o u s h o u l d change the motor pu m p
s e t ti n g t o other settings
·Please refer to Section 12.1 for the relations between motor pump setting
and performance curve.
7.2 Control of Motor Pump
When the motor pump is working, the motor pump is controlled according to
the prin c i p l e o f “ P r o p o rtional Pre s s u r e C o n t r o l ( BL)” or “Const ant
Pressure Control (HD)”.
In these two control modes, the motor pump performance and c orre s ponding
power consumption will be regulated according to t he h eat demand of the
system.
Proportional Pressure Control
In this control mode, the differential pressure of both ends of the motor pump
will be controlled by the flow rate. In the Q/H Figure, propor tion a l pr essure
curve is represented with BL(1-9). Please refer to Section 11.3.
Constant Pressure Control
In this control mode, the differenti a l p r e s s u r e o f b o th ends of the mot o r
pump remains cons t ant and i s ir relevant to the flow rate. In the Q/H Figure,
constant pressure curve is a horizontal performance curve represented with
HD1(1-9). Please refer to Section 11.3.

8.Bypass valve system installed between
the Inlet pipeline and return pipeline
8.1Purposes of bypass valve

The purpose of bypas s v a l v e : w h e n a l l t he v a l v e s a n d / or t emperature -
sensing valves of heat radiator in the fl oo r heating l o o p a r e c l osed, it can
ensure that the heat from boiler can be distributed.

8.2Manually-operated Bypass Valve
1、Adjust the by-pass valve, pump should be set on HS1 ( Constant speed I)
The minimum flow rate（ Q min） of the sys tem shall be always guar anteed.
Please refer to bypass valve manual provided by the manufacturer.
2、After the regulating of bypass valve completes, set the pump in accordance
with Section 10.1 of Pump Setting.
8.3 Automatic Bypass Valve (temperature-sensing type)
Follow the following procedures:
1、Adjust the by-pass valve, pump should be set on HS1 ( Constant speed I)
The minimum flow rate（ Q min） of the system sh all be alwa ys guaranteed.
Please refer to bypass valve manual provided by the manufacturer.
2、After the regulating of bypass valve completes, set the pump to lowest or
highest constant pressure mode. For the relations between pump setting and
performance curve, please refer to Section 10.1 of Pump Setting and Pump
Performance.
In accordance with the following procedures

9.1Before Start Up
Before starting the motor pump, ensure that the system is filled with liquid,
air has been completely exhausted, and the inlet of motor pump mu st r each
minimum inlet pressure. Please refer to Chapter 3.
9.2 Exhaust the Motor Pump
GPA -Ⅳseries motor pump is e q u i p p e d
w i t h s e l f - v e n t i n g function. Before the
start up, it is not necessary to vent the air.
Air in the m o t o r p u m p m a y c ause noise.
After the motor pump is put into operation
for several m i n u t e s , t h e n o i s e
w i l l disappear.
B a s e d o n t h e s y s t e m s c a l e a n d
structure, set the GPA series motor p u m p
t o Hs 9 ( Constant speed 9) f o r a short
period of time and air in the pump can be
quickly vented.

When all valves are closed, the minimum flow r a t e m u s t b e g u a r a n t e e d.
The setting of pump p o s it i on d ep e n d s on t h e ty p e o f b y p a s s v a l v e , i . e.
manual bypass valve or temperature-sensing bypass valve.
After air is vented from the mo t or pump and noise disappear, set the
motor pump in accordance with the manual. Please refer to Chapter 7.
Motor pump cannot run in idle speed without pumping liquid.

The operating point of the pump will move up and down on
the lowe s t p r o p o r t i o n al pressure cur v e ba s ed o n t h e
demand of system flow rate. When flow demand decreases,
the pressure supply of pump drops ; w h e n f l o w d e m a n d
increases, the pressure supply of pump rises.
The operation point of the pump will move around the
constant pressure curve based on the dema n d of
system flow rate. The head (pressure) is kept constant,
regardless of the flow request..
It runs on the constant curve in a constant velocity.
Under the Velocity HS(1-9) mode, the pump is set
to work on the hi g h e s t c u r v e u n d er al l w o r k i n g
conditions. Set under HS9 m o d e i n a s h o r t t i m e,
fast venting can be arranged on the pump.

11.Performance Curve
11.1Guide on Performance Curve
Every setting of the motor pump has corresponding performance curve
(Q/H curve). However A UTO ( S e l f A d aptive Mode ) m o d e c o v e r s j u s t o ne
performance scope.
The input power curve (P1 curve) belongs to every Q/H curve . Po wer
curve represents the power consumption of motor pump in g i ven Q/H c urve
with Watt as the unit.
11.2Curve conditions
The followings are applicable to the performance curve specified in the
GPA Ⅳseries manual:
·Test liquid: air-free water.
·Applicable density of curve ρ=983.2 kg/m3, and liquid temperature +60℃.
·All curves represent averaged value, and shall not be used as guarantee
curve. If a specific performance is needed, then separate measuring shall be
conducted.
·The applicable Kinetic viscosity of the curve υ=0.474 mm2/s（0.474CcST）
