■Before Use
Read this operation manual before use, and use the product safely and correctly. After reading this operation
manual and the warranty, keep them handy for future reference.

■Precautions Regarding Transportation
The BU-24L uses a lithium ion battery. Accordingly, handling limitations arise when it is transported by aircraft.
Check the airline company's rules when transporting the product as carry-on or checked-in luggage.
When the BU-24L is transported as air cargo, the rules in the IATA dangerous goods regulations apply, and
the product is classified under UN3480, Section IA. In this case, the state of charge (SOC) must be 30 %
max. In addition, the packaging must be consistent with the rules, and qualified personnel must create the
dangerous goods declaration. Accordingly, first check the details, and then discuss and confirm them with the
transportation company actually responsible.
Note that the information here is as of April 1, 2016, and is subject to modification at any time. Be sure to
check the latest information.
■Safety Precautions
The precautionary information that appears in this manual is for ensuring that the product is used safely
and for preventing injury to you and other people and damage to equipment. It is all important for
ensuring safety and so be sure to read it thoroughly before using the product and observe it during use.

Misuse might cause electric shock, generation of heat, fire, or rupturing, which will

Be sure to use the exclusive charger (BC-100B) to charge the BU-24L.
The BU-24L is a special battery unit for the LV-40BR/LV-40BW low volume pumps.
Only use this product with the LV-40BR/LV-40BW.
Do not leave this product inside cars in the hot sun, or use or store it in strong direct sunlight,
in front of heating equipment or next to fires.
Do not put this product into fires, or install it in closed spaces or near naked flames.
Never connect by methods other than those described in this manual, for example, by
connecting to connectors using wire or other metal objects.
Do not carry or store this product together with necklaces, hairpins, coins, or keys.
Do not penetrate the BU-24L with a nail, hammer on it, or step on it.
Do not solder the BU-24L connections directly.
Do not place this product in a microwave oven or a high-pressure container.
Do not allow infants, pets, or other animals to touch this product. It is dangerous to lick this
product, place it in the mouth, or chew it.
Do not allow it to be wetted by or submerged in water or seawater.
Never dismantle or modify this product.

Misuse might cause electric shock, generation of heat, fire, or rupturing, which will
result in burns, injury or blindness.
Do not subject this product to strong impact or drop it.
If an abnormality occurs during operation, immediately stop operation and remove the
cause of the abnormality. If the abnormality is judged to be caused by this product,
contact your Sibata distributor. Do not use this product in an abnormal state or allow it to
be dismantled for repair by non-service personnel.
Do not run this product wrapped in a cloth or bedding, or enclosed in a box.
Avoid using it in environments subject to flammable gases, sea air, or other corrosive gases.
Do not wash this product with water.
Do not clean this product by a dry cloth or duster. Doing so might cause static electricity
and result in an explosion. Clean with a moist cloth or similar item.
Do not use paint thinner, alcohol, or other organic solvents for cleaning this product.
This product is made for indoor use. Do not use it in environments that may be exposed
to wind and rain.
Do not use the BU-24L in combination with other types of batteries (such as the BU-24B).
When connecting this product to its special charger (BC-100B battery charger), do not force
the connection if it is not connected well. It may result in reversed connection between
positive and negative sides, which can cause malfunctions and accidents.
Misuse might cause moderate injury or physical damage.
Install this product on a horizontal, stable site.
When not using this product for a long time, store the BU-24L as an individual unit, in as
cool and dry a location as possible out of the direct sunlight. Storing the BU-24L units
connected together to each other might cause battery degradation.
Do not place heavy objects or get on this product. Doing so might cause the product to
tip over or deform the product, resulting in accident or malfunction.
Take care not to nip your fingers when assembling the product, for example, when
installing the BU-24L.
The operating temperature range of the BU-24L is 10 to 40 °C. Use of this product
outside of this range might impair the BU-24L's performance and service life, resulting in
damage or deformation of the battery.
If the BU-24L will not be used for an extended period, charge it once every three months
to prevent excessive discharge.
Do not connect 2 units of BU-24L each other which has big difference of remaining
power. Doing so might degrade BU-24L.
The BU-24L has power life. If power becomes short, change to new BU-24L.

■Product Overview
This product is a special battery unit for the LV-40BR/LV-40BW low volume pumps. Combining it with the
LV-40BR/LV-40BW enables them to operate under DC power. As a result of using a lithium iron phosphate
battery, it is approx. 3 kg lighter than the previous product (BU-24B).
■How to Charge the Battery
Directly after purchase, be sure to charge it before use. When you unpack the BU-24L, if any problems with it
are evident such as a change of shape from a fall, do not use it. Instead, contact your Sibata representative or
the distributor where you purchased it.
(1) Place the BU-24L on top of the exclusive BC-100B (sold separately) Battery Charger.
(2) During charging, the charging confirmation lamp on the BU-24L lights (red). When the lamp changes color
to green, this indicates that charging is completed.
After charging is finished, quickly remove the BU-24L from the BC-100B.
●If the [CHARGE] lamp does not change color to green even considerably after 15 hours of charging, a
probable cause is a malfunctioning battery. Immediately disconnect the power cable, and ask for repair.
■Using Methods
(1) Place the LV-40BR/LV-40BW on top of the exclusive BU-24L Battery Unit.
(2) Lock it securely with the twist lock.
(3) Turn ON the LV-40BR/LV-40BW power key to operate the BU-24L.
●Do not connect BU-24L units with greatly differing remaining power for use. Doing so might cause BU-24L
units degradation.
●Up to three BU-24L units can be used at a time. When carrying them, however, be sure to move them one at
a time. In addition, store each unit individually to prevent deterioration of the battery.
●Do not use the BU-24L in combination with other types of batteries (such as the BU-24B). Doing so might
cause malfunction or accidents.
●When the [LOW BATTERY] lamp on the LV-40BR/LV-40BW lights, this indicates that the battery is about to
expire. Please Charge the battery.
■Preferred Procedures for Requesting Repairs to Products Used
in Environments Exposed to Asbestos
To prevent harm to users and Sibata service engineers from exposure to asbestos, please refer to and comply
with the procedures below when requesting repairs to products used in environments exposed to asbestos.
(1) Fully remove all asbestos from the product before requesting repairs. After removing the asbestos, seal the
product and its accessories in two layers of a transparent, waterproof material (such as sturdy plastic bags),
and then pack it in a box. When sealing it, take care that the serial number of the product and the number of
accessories can be checked from the exterior of the bags.
(2) Be sure to enter "AS" in the "Fault and Request Details" field in the "Repair Request Slip." If this is not
entered for this product, you may be asked by a sales representative to confirm whether or not it was
exposed to asbestos.
(3) If you are delivering the product to Sibata via courier, in addition to the product model number, enter "AS" in
the "Details" and "Name of Goods" fields on the invoice. This is to prevent the staff from damaging the
sealed bags with a box cutter when unpacking the delivery.
●The above mentioned request is noted for all similar products involved in asbestos measurement.

■Disposal of the Product
The BU-24L uses a lithium iron phosphate battery. (Iron phosphate) lithium ion batteries are a precious
resource and can be recycled. In accordance with the Act on the Promotion of Effective Utilization of Resources,
a notification from the Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the manufacturer is obliged to recover
and recycle such items. This product is not designed to allow customers themselves to disassemble it or
remove the lithium ion battery. For disposal, contact your Sibata representative or the distributor where you
purchased the product.
< If This Product Was Used in Environments Exposed to Asbestos >
This product may have become contaminated with asbestos if used in environments exposed to asbestos.
Accordingly, after use, please dispose of it as waste asbestos (dispersible asbestos waste), a
specially-controlled industrial waste prescribed under the Japan's Waste Disposal and Cleansing Act, in
accordance with the applicable disposal procedure.

■Warranty
If a Sibata product fails within one year from date of purchase, it will be repaired free of charge. To request
repairs, contact your Sibata distributor. Be sure to provide the item code, product name, model number, serial
number, a description of the problem, and other relevant information. Consumable parts included with Sibata
products are not covered by the warranty. The warranty excludes any problems resulting from any of the
following causes. Such repairs are subject to normal service fees.
(1) Faults due to improper usage
(2) Faults or damage resulting from repairs or modifications implemented by parties other than Sibata
(3) Faults or damage resulting from fires or natural disasters, such as earthquakes
(4) Faults or damage occurring after purchase due to relocation, movement, falling, or vibration
(5) Faults or damage resulting from the use of consumable items not specified by Sibata
(6) Sales date or seal either revised or not affixed by the sales outlet
(7) [Modifications and Repairs Are Prohibited] Never disassemble or modify this product, as doing so will void
the warranty with Sibata. Doing so may also result in unforeseen faults and accidents.
