■Shipping Precautions
The LI-30 battery unit uses a lithium ion battery. Therefore, restrictions apply to transporting the product by
aircraft. If transporting the product in carry-on or checked luggage, check the rules of the airline used. If
shipping the product as air freight, the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations apply. They require that
packaging conforms to the rules in the Regulations and that a qualified person prepares a Shipper’s
Declaration for Dangerous Goods. Accordingly, first check the rules and then check with the transportation
company actually shipping the product.
■Safety Precautions
This product is designed to prioritize operator safety. Nevertheless, some risks could not be eliminated, due to
product characteristics. In this manual, the signal words DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION are used to indicate
three levels of seriousness or danger of such risks to humans. The word NOTE is used to indicate product
precautions. Be sure to carefully read and thoroughly understand information marked with those words before
operating or maintaining the product. The signal words DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION indicate the
seriousness of dangers, in descending order (with DANGER indicating the most serious dangers and CAUTION
the least serious). The meaning of each signal word is described below.
DANGER Indicates dangerous circumstances that, if not avoided, could result in serious
injury or death.
W
ARNING Indicates circumstances that, if not avoided, could potentially result in serious
injury or death.
CAUTION Indicates circumstances that, if not avoided, could potentially result in minor or
moderate injury.
NOTE Indicates circumstances that, if not avoided, could potentially result in product
failure or damage.

DANGER
●Do not cover or otherwise place combustible material on top of the product.
●Do not use the product in environments subject to flammable gases, salt air, or other
corrosive gases.
●Do not leave the product in a location exposed to direct sunlight, such as on a car
dashboard or next to a car window, or in a hot location, such as in an enclosed car in
hot weather or near a heater or other heat source.
●Do not place the product in a fire, in an enclosed space, or near an ignition source.
WARNING
●Always charge the unit by the prescribed method.
●Do not pierce the LI-30 with a nail, hit it with a hammer, or step on it.
●This product is designed for indoor use. Do not use it in an environment where it is
exposed to wind and rain.
●Do not immerse or otherwise expose the product to water.
●Do not short the terminals with wire or other metal material.
●Do not subject the product to strong impacts or drop it from a high location.
●Do not directly solder to the terminals.
●Do not place this product in a microwave oven or a high-pressure vessel.
●Do not place heavy objects on the product.
●Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the product.
●Do not let infants, pets, or other animals touch the product. It would be dangerous if
they licked the product, placed it in their mouth, or chewed on it, for example.
●If the battery leaks liquid or emits an unusual odor, immediately move it away from any
ignition sources. Leaked electrolyte solution could cause the unit to rupture or ignite.
●Do not clean it with a dry cloth or duster. Resulting static electricity could cause a
product failure or accident.
●Do not use paint thinner, alcohol, or other organic solvent to clean the product.
●The LI-30 battery unit is designed specifically for LVS-30 low volume pumps. Do not
use it for any products other than an LVS-30 pump.
CAUTION
●If any unusual odor, heat generation, warping, or any other unusual symptom is
noticed while using, charging, or storing the LI-30 battery unit, immediately stop using
the unit and contact your Sibata representative.
●Whenever possible, use a box to carry the battery unit. Carrying an uncovered battery
unit in bag, for example, could cause short-circuiting across LI-30 terminals by a
hairpin or other metal object.
●Be careful to avoid pinching fingers when installing the battery unit into the LVS-30
pump.
NOTE
●For extended periods of disuse, remove the battery unit from the LVS-30 pump and
store it in a location with low moisture and dust levels.
●LI-30 battery units have a limited service life. If it only powers the pump for a short
time, then replace it with a new LI-30 battery unit or have it repaired.
●The operating temperature range for LI-30 battery units is 0 to 40 °C for discharging or
5 to 35 °C for charging. Operating the LI-30 outside these ranges could reduce
performance, shorten the service life, or cause battery damage or deformation.
●Even if the LI-30 will not be used for an extended period, charge it about once every
six months to prevent excessive discharge.
●If the battery unit does not fit easily into the LVS-30 pump, do not force it. Doing so
could cause damage or an accident.

■Recharging Method
Immediately after purchasing the product, be sure to charge it before use.
(1) Install the LI-30 battery unit into the LVS-30 pump. (For more details, refer to the LVS-30 operation manual.)
(2) Insert the connector from the AC adapter (sold separately) into the DC jack on the LVS-30 unit and then
plug in the DC plug.
(3) Next, connect the power cord (sold separately) to the AC adapter and plug the power cord into a power
outlet.
(4) The charging indicator on the LVS-30 pump will illuminate red during charging. Charging is finished when
the charging indicator color changes to steady yellow-green.
●If the charging indicator does not change to steady yellow-green even after 10 hours, it could
indicate a battery failure. If so, promptly unplug the power cord from the outlet and have it repaired.
■Requesting Repairs for Products Exposed to Asbestos
To prevent exposing customers and Sibata service personnel to asbestos, use the following method to request
repairs.
(1) Fully remove all asbestos from the product before requesting repairs. After removing the asbestos, seal the
product and its accessories in two layers of sturdy, water-resistant, transparent bags. Then pack the bags in a
box. When sealing the items in the bags, make sure the serial number of the product being repaired and the
number of accessories included are visible from the exterior of the bags.
(2) Be sure to enter “AS” in the “Fault and Request Details” field on the “Repair Request Slip.” Alternatively,
explicitly indicate that the product was used for measuring asbestos. If neither is entered for the product, a
Sibata sales representative might contact the user to confirm whether or not it was exposed to asbestos.
(3) If a courier service is used to ship the product to the distributor or your Sibata representative, in addition to the
product model number, enter “AS” in the “Remarks” or “Description” field of the shipping form. The purpose is to
prevent damaging the sealed bags with a box cutter when unpacking the delivery.
●The above request applies to all similar products involved in measuring asbestos.
■Product Disposal
This product uses a lithium ion battery. Lithium ion batteries are a valuable resource that can be recycled. In
accordance with the Act on the Promotion of Effective Utilization of Resources, a notification from Japan’s Ministry of
Economy, Trade and Industry, the manufacturer is obliged to recover and recycle such items. The product is not
designed for disassembly or lithium ion battery removal directly by the user. To dispose of the battery unit, contact
the distributor where you purchased the product or your Sibata representative.
If Product was Exposed to Asbestos
The product may contain asbestos or other hazardous substances after use. Therefore, dispose of it as specially-
controlled industrial waste, in accordance with disposal methods specified for asbestos waste (dispersible asbestos
