Important Safety Warnings and Precautions
Incorrect installation of this motor pump can result in serious injury or even death.
Installers, pool operators and pool owners should read these warnings and all
instructions contained in this manual before installing, operating, or servicing the
pump.
SIBRAPE pumps are intended for use in commercial and residential swimming pools.
Most countries have local construction, installation, and operation of residential and /
or public swimming pools, spas, and bathtubs regulations. These regulations exceed
government regulations.
It is important to follow these regulations according to the country of installation.
IMPORTANT WARNING
Attention installer! This installation and user manual contains important information
about the installation, operation, and safe use of this pump. This manual must be
handed over to the equipment´s owner.
Before installing this product, read and follow all warnings and instructions contained
in this manual. Failure to follow warnings and instructions can result in serious injury,
death, property damage and / or loss of warranty.
Danger! Water temperatures above 37 ° C can be hazardous to your health. Prolonged
immersion in hot water can induce hyperthermia. Hyperthermia occurs when the body’s
internal temperature reaches a level above the body’s internal temperature of 37 ° C.
The effects of hyperthermia include: (1) ignorance of the imminent danger; (2) lack of
perception of heat; (3) failure to recognize the need to get out of the water; (4) physical
inability to get out of the water; (5) fetal damage in pregnant women; (6) unconsciousness
that can result in the risk of drowning.
The use of alcohol, drugs and / or medication can considerably increase the risk of fatal
hyperthermia in swimming pools, spas, and hot tubs.
Do not allow children and / or people without proper certification or professional training
to operate this motor pump.
When replacing a motor pump, check the power / flow / operative equipment´s curve so
that they are compatible with each other. Installing inappropriate equipment can exceed
the maximum flow supported by the system.
This equipment is intended for use in residential and / or commercial swimming pools,
so all local regulations must be followed.
In Brazil we have as reference the ABNT NBR.
ABNT NBR 10339 - Piscina - Design, execution, and maintenance of 09/19/2018. ABNT
NBR 5410 - Low voltage electrical installations from 09/30/2004.
Other regulations may apply.

Important Safety Warnings and Precautions
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
MOTOR PUMPS REQUIRE HIGH VOLTAGE WHICH MAY CAUSE ELECTRIC SHOCK,
BURNS AND / OR DEATH.
Always disconnect electric supply to the pump before carrying out maintenance. Failure
to do so may result in accidents, serious injury, or accidental death from electric shock.
Motor pumps for swimming pools, spas or hot tubs must be installed by qualified
professionals in accordance with local electrical normativity and applicable ordinances.
Incorrect installation can create an electrical hazard that can result in death or serious
injury to pool users, installers, or others due to electric shock. Property damage may
also occur.
Failure to correctly size a pump, perform an improper installation or use a pump in
applications other than those for which the pump is intended, may result in accidents,
serious injury or death. These risks may include, but are not limited to, electric shock,
fire, flood, suction trap, serious injury, material damage caused by a structural failure of
the pump or other system component.
Never exceed the pump’s specifications, such as pressure, voltage, current, etc.
SUCTION ENTRAPMENT DANGER
Motor pumps move large volumes of water, generating high suction in certain fixtures,
which can represent an extreme danger of accidental entrapment of limbs and / or
hair if the correct dimensioning and positioning of the bottom drains, skimmers and
other fixtures is not dimensioned accordingly.
FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH INSTALLATION, OPERATION AND SAFETY STANDARDS AND
RECOMMENDATIONS MAY RESULT IN ENTRAPMENT, WHICH CAN CAUSE SERIOUS
ACCIDENTS, DAMAGE OR EVEN DEATH. In case of any questions about the installation
and / or operation of the motor pump, consult a qualified professional pool service.
Motor pumps should not be operated if a main drain´s cover is damaged or missing.
A drain cover according to the standards must be used to cover each drain. Swimming
pools, spas and hot tubs must have at least two hydraulically balanced main drains and
follow the appropriate regulations for design, specification, and installation.
Regularly inspect all drain covers for cracks, damage, and advanced wear. If a cover is
loose, cracked, damaged, broken or missing, close the pool, spa or hot tub immediately,
turn off the pump, and place a warning sign to keep the installation closed until an
appropriate cover is installed correctly.

Inspection and Reception
Check the product upon receipt. After removing the equipment from its packaging, check the shipping documents
and check if there has been any damage to the equipment, due to loading and transportation. If any irregularity
has been found, such as a lack of components or any damage to the equipment, notify the person responsible for
transport and your dealer immediately.
Installation
Install the pump as close to the pool or spa as possible, in accordance with local electrical, hydraulic and
pool regulations to reduce friction losses in the pipeline and improve the pump’s efficiency.
In order to keep the pump constantly primed, which facilitates its operation and
accelerates the beginning of water circulation, we recommend, if possible, installing the
pump below the pool´s water level. When there are no means of achieving this, it must be
installed at the lowest possible pool’s water level, and never above 2 meters from the water level.
Most common accidents due to accidental suction:
Hair Entanglement - When the hair becomes entangled or caught in the drain cover, the
person will be caught under water. This risk presents itself when there is no adequate
cover to prevent the suction of hair, inadequate amount of drains for the necessary flow
of the motor pump (s), increased suction force, not following the regulations, incorrectly
dimensioning the system, equipment and pipes.
Limb Entrapment - Is when a limb is sucked or stuck in an opening, resulting in
mechanical tightness, or swelling. This risk arises when a drain cover leaks, breaks,
loosens, cracks, or is not attached correctly.
Body Entrapment - When a part of the body is sucked or stuck to the drain cover,
trapping the swimmer underwater. This risk presents itself when there is not an
adequate cover to prevent the body from being trapped, inadequate amount of drains
for the necessary flow of the motor pump (s), increased suction force, not following the
regulations, incorrectly dimensioning the system, equipment and pipes.
Evisceration/Disembowelment - When a person sits on the drain of a swimming pool,
spa or hot tub and suction is applied directly to the intestines, causing severe intestinal
damage.
Mechanical Entrapment - When jewelry, swimsuits, hair ornaments, fingers, toes, or
finger joints are captured in an outlet opening or drain cover.

Install the pump in a dry, well-ventilated, flat, shaded
area that has enough space to easily place and remove
the pump, and perform maintenance service when
necessary. If the pump is installed inside an engine
room, the floor must have a drain. It is recommended
to install the motor pump on an elevated base
in order to avoid contact with humidity, insects,
animals and direct contact with water.
The motor pump must be attached to the floor or base;
accordingtothemodeltheremaybepointsofattachment
to the motor and / or plastic parts of the motor pump.
The rear of the pump / motor must have a minimum
distance of 10 cm between the motor and any
other object, wall, etc. * Check the image below:
Important Recommendations
• For better performance and safety, it is recommended
to use pipes with larger diameters, never smaller than
the motor pump inlet / outlet diameter.
•The suction piping must be equal to or greater than
the return diameter.
•The plumbing of the pool should be kept as short runs
as possible.
•Avoid elbows on the suction line, especially near the
motor pump. These elbows can cause undesirable
turbulence in the flow of water.
•Anchor the pipes properly. Secure them using
brackets on the floor or on the walls.
•Avoid straining the pump nozzles.
•Achieve perfect alignment of the pipes with the ports
of the pump.
•In installations with a motor pump installed below
the level of the pool water, install valves in the suction
and discharge lines. Keep these valves closed during
equipment maintenance or pre- filter cleaning.
•It is recommended that an installed suction valve,
elbow or tee is not closer than five (5) times the
diameter of the suction pipe.
Example:
A motor pump with a 60 mm inlet diameter, using a 60
mm suction pipe requires a 300 mm (30 cm) straight
pipe in front of the pump suction inlet. This will help
the pump prime more quickly and have a longer service
life.
Hydraulic installation
Check the model of your motor pump to find out
the inlet and outlet dimensions. Never use a PVC
pipe with a smaller diameter than the inlet and /
or outlet of the pump; this compromises the flow,
performance and operation of the equipment.
BPF PLATINIUM - Input 2” threaded internal and
2 1/2” weld external / Output 2” threaded internal
and 2 1/2” weld external; unions are included.
Use of PVC pipes: Use PVC pipes for suction and
discharge. Weld the tubes and connections using
adhesives appropriate for this purpose. When welding
the pipes and connections, avoid applying too much
adhesiveso thatit´llrunonand/ orinsidetheequipment,
which would compromise its appearance and function.

Electrical Installation
The electrical installation must be carried out by a qualified professional and must comply with the legislation and
local laws. In Brazil, the Technical Standard ABNT NBR 5410 - Low voltage electrical installations, establishes in
detail the criteria that must be followed for installation, protecting the installation, equipment, people, and animals.
A well dimensioned design ensures perfect operation of the pump, protects the equipment, and increases its useful
life.
The recirculation motor pumps must be powered by an exclusive circuit, independent of other circuits. The motors
must be installed inside an engine room and with sufficient cross ventilation.
The motor’s power cables must be dimensioned accordingly by a qualified professional.
PRIOT TO POWERING THE MOTOR PUMP ON, MAKE SURE THE VOLTAGE IS ADECUATE TO OPERATE THE
EQUIPMENT.
CHECK THE ENGINE’S PLATE FOR THE CORRECT CONNECTION OF THE TERMINALS AND FOR THE CORRECT
VOLTAGES ACCORDING TO EACH ENGINE / MOTOR PUMP.
It is mandatory to install devices that offer security to the installation, equipment, people and animals, such as:
contactors, overload relays, DPS (Surge protection devices), Phase-out relays, IDR / DR (Residual Differential
Switch / Residual Differential) and other necessary protections in accordance with ABNT NBR 5410 - Low voltage
electrical installations, both for single-phase and three-phase motors.
The lack of electrical protection devices in the equipment will cause the loss of the WARRANTY.
The warranty does not cover damage from voltage peaks, problems with the supply and natural phenomena. All
engine data is printed on the nameplate placed on the engine body.
For the installation of three-phase motors, a Phase Rotation Indicator must be used to avoid the wrong connection
and the motor to rotate in the opposite direction.
If the pump is turned on incorrectly and rotates in the opposite direction, the WARRANTY will be lost.
All motors have a counterclockwise direction of rotation by default (when viewed from the front of the shaft).
However, when viewed from the rear of the engine, the shaft must rotate clockwise.
Grounding: GROUNDING IS MANDATORY
For complete safety of the electrical installation, make sure that the motor is perfectly grounded, according to
local regulations. In Brazil we have as reference the ABNT NBR 5410. Use the existing terminal on the motor for
grounding, connecting it to a wire of suitable diameter according to the project and this to an appropriate iron /
copper rod.

Priming the Pump
Sibrape motor pumps that have a pre-filter are self-
priming (ability to self-expel the air contained in the
suction pipe or flexible hose of the pool and return
cleaner).
The excellent priming system of the pumps makes
them fast-priming. The smaller the volume of air
contained in the pipeline, the shorter the priming time.
Therefore, it is recommended to install the pump
as close as possible to the pool and use pipes with a
diameter equal to or greater than the nominal pump.
When greater efficiency is required in priming the
motor pump installed on a suction pipe longer than 3
(three) meters long and height above 2 (two) meters, it
is recommended to install a check valve on the suction
pipe below the pool water’s level in order to prevent
water drainage in the pipe. This check valve has to be
accessible in order to perform maintenance to it.
Priming is done as follows:
•Remove the pre-filter cover by turning it manually by
its fins in a counterclockwise direction.
•Fill up to the water level of the pre-filter. The water
must reach the suction nozzle’s top level.
•Replace the pre-filter cover. Rotate it manually by its
fins clockwise, until you feel that your sealing O’ ring
has properly accommodated itself in the pre-filter body.
Note: Do not over-tighten the pre-filter cover.
If there is a leak between the cover and the pre-filter,
pay attention to the following details:
1 - Make sure that the seal O’ ring is correctly housed
in the cover.
2 - If the leak persists, replace the sealing O’ ring. Do
not try to improve the cover seal by applying the same
sealing tape.
3 - Grease the cap thread and / or the sealing O’ ring
with silicone grease. This procedure makes it easy to
thread the cap and lock it, preventing it from jamming.
* Pumps with less power may have difficulty performing
priming when installed above the water’s level; this type
of installation is recommended for pumps above 3/4 hp.
Operation
After priming - complete removal of air from the piping
- observe the operation of the pump and visible piping
in order to identify possible leaks.
Pre-Filter Cleaning
Frequently inspect the state of saturation of the pre-
filter basket, through the transparent cover. If the
basket is full of leaves, algae, pebbles, or foreign
objects, clean it, proceeding as follows:
1 - Turn off the electric motor.
2 - If the motor pump is below water level, close the
suction valve (a check valve must be installed in the
return line and after the filter.
3 - Remove the pre-filter cover.
4 - Remove the collecting basket and clean it, washing
it with water. If necessary, use a brush to unblock the
holes.
5 - Replace the basket and the lid.
6 - If the motor pump is below water level, open the
suction and discharge valves and start the electric
motor.
7 - If the motor pump is above water level, perform its
priming again.
ATTENTION!
- Do not over-tighten the pre-filter cover.
- Use only silicone grease on the cap thread and on
the sealing O’ rings.
- Never start the pump without water in the pre-filter
canister.
ATTENTION!
Never use solvents to clean this equipment, only
neutral detergents.
Water chemical parameters:
The chemical parameters of the water must be properly
regulated, the chemical imbalance can cause damage
to the equipment and loss of warranty.

Free Chlorine: 1.0 - 3.0 ppm
Combined Chlorine: 0.2 ppm
pH: 7.4 - 7.8
Salt: 3400 ppm
Calcium hardness: 200 - 400
Total alkalinity: 80 - 120

a total warranty of 12 (twelve) months, consisting of: 275 days of contractual warranty, in addition to the 90 days of
legal guarantee (article 26, item II of the Consumer Protection Code), counted date of delivery of the product, as
expressed in the purchase invoice.
This product is guaranteed against possible manufacturing defects. The guarantee is characterized by the sales
invoice. Defects arising from:
• Product used improperly, imprudently or outside the recommendations of Sibrape or authorized
workshop;
• Repair or alteration by third parties / companies other than Sibrape or authorized workshops;
• Installation incorrectly and contrary to this manual’s instructions;
• Natural wear and tear arising from normal operating conditions;
• Use of corrosive or abrasive fluids not foreseen in the equipment design;
• Damage caused by improper transport, falls, etc .;
• Disassembly of the equipment, during the warranty period, without the presence a Sibrape
representative, except when authorized in writing;
• It is subjected to conditions beyond the limits specified in its technical description;
• Infiltration of water and / or phenomena of nature (overload and / or atmospheric discharge);

RIESGO DE DESCARGA ELÉCTRICA
LAS MOTOBOMBAS REQUIEREN ALTO VOLTAJE QUE PUEDE CAUSAR DESCARGAS
ELÉCTRICAS, QUEMADURAS O LA MUERTE.
Desconecte siempre el suministro eléctrico a la motobomba antes de realizar el
mantenimiento. El no hacerlo puede resultar en accidentes, lesiones graves o muerte
accidental por descarga eléctrica.
Las motobombas para piscinas, spas o jacuzzis deben ser instaladas por profesionales
calificados de acuerdo con las normas eléctricas locales y las ordenanzas aplicables. La
instalación incorrecta puede crear un peligro eléctrico que puede resultar en la muerte
o lesiones graves a los usuarios de la piscina, instaladores u otras personas debido a
descargas eléctricas; además, puede causar daños a la propiedad.
No dimensionar correctamente una motobomba, realizar una instalación incorrecta
o utilizar una motobomba para aplicaciones distintas a aquellas para las que está
diseñada, puede resultar en accidentes, lesiones corporales graves e incluso la muerte.
Estos riesgos pueden incluir, entre otros, descarga eléctrica, incendio, inundación,
atrapamiento por succión, lesiones graves, daños materiales causados por una falla
estructural de la motobomba u otro componente del sistema.
Nunca exceda las especificaciones de la motobomba, como presión, voltaje, corriente,
etc.
PELIGRO DE TRAMPA DE SUCCIÓN
Las motobombas mueven grandes volúmenes de agua, generando alta succión en
los dispositivos de succión que puede representar un peligro extremo de succión
accidental, de miembros y / o cabello si no se realiza el correcto dimensionamiento
de la cantidad y posicionamiento de los drenes de fondo, desnatadores, dispositivos
de succión y tubería.
EL NO CUMPLIR CON LAS NORMAS Y RECOMENDACIONES DE INSTALACIÓN,
FUNCIONAMIENTO Y SEGURIDAD PUEDE RESULTAR EN CABELLO O MIEMBROS
ATRAPADOS, LO QUE PUEDE CAUSAR ACCIDENTES GRAVES, DAÑOS O INCLUSO LA
MUERTE. En caso de duda sobre la instalación y / o el funcionamiento de la motobomba,
consulte a un servicio profesional de piscinas cualificado.
Las motobombas no deben encenderse si las tapas de los drenes de fondo están
dañadas o faltasen. Se debe usar una tapa anti-vortex para dren de acuerdo con las
normas para cubrir cada dren. Las piscinas, spas y jacuzzis deben usar al menos dos
drenes hidráulicamente balanceados y seguir las regulaciones apropiadas para el
diseño, las especificaciones y la instalación.
Inspeccione periódicamente todas las tapas de dren para detectar grietas, daños y
desgaste avanzado. Si una cubierta está suelta, agrietada, dañada, rota o falta, cierre la
piscina, spa o jacuzzi inmediatamente, apague la motobomba y coloque una advertencia
para mantener el lugar cerrado hasta que se instale correctamente una cubierta
adecuada.
