installtheConnectionManagersoftware.Thismay takeafewminutestocomplete.

WhentheTelstraConnectionManagerwindow appears,double-clicktheinstallerpackage.

thelistof defaultprofiles,selectyourserviceprovider.Ifyourserviceproviderisnoton
thelist,contactthem.
ClickOK.Themodem isreadytouse.

3Oncethesoftwareisinstalled,themodemsearchesforanetwork.Whenthe modem
finds anetwork,theConnectbutton intheConnectionManagerbecomesavailable.
ClickConnecttoconnecttoyour network.
ThefirsttimeyouruntheConnectionManager:

1. AfterclickingConnect,openSystemPreferencesandselectNetwork.
2. Whenthe“New PortDetected”messageappears,click OK.

2. Removethemodemby pullingitstraightoutfromtheUSBport.

1. ExittheConnectionManager software.
2. IfamicroSDcardis insertedinthemodem,youmustlocatethemodeminFinder,
selectthedrive,and clicktheEjecticon.
3. Removethemodemby pullingitstraightoutfromtheUSBport.

Problem/Error Solution
Thedevicehasnopower—
the LEDindicator isoff. Ensurethe following:
Thedeviceis properlyinserted.
Thecomputeris turnedonand notinstandby
mode(Windows)or Sleepmode(Mac).
Noserviceisavailable—
the LEDindicator isoff). Trythe following:
Reorientyourcomputer.
Ifyouare insideabuilding orneara structure
thatmaybe blockingthesignal, changethe
positionorlocation ofyourcomputer.
Connectanexternal antenna.
ContactTelstraregarding thestatusof the
networkoryour account.

Whenthemodem isworkingnormally,sending andreceiving dataontheTelstraNextG®
network,thetwoLEDsonthemodemshowsolidblue.Thetablebelowdescribesother
operatingstatesthattheLEDsindicate.
LED OPERATION

Power Off Oneofthefollowingstates:
Themodemis notinsertedin thecomputer.
Thecomputeris offorin “suspendandresume” mode.
Themodemradio hasbeenturned offusingConnection
Manager.
Blinkingblue Thefirmwareisbeingupdated.Donotremovethemodem
fromthe computer.
Blinkingamber Themodem issearchingforservice(initializing).
Solidamber Modemerror—eitherthemodem ishavinga probleminitial-
izing(searchingforservice)orisofflinebecauseofafailure.
Contactyourserviceprovider.
Data Off The modemisunabletodetect2Gor3Gservice.
Blinkingamber Themodem hasdetecteda2G network(EDGE,GPRS,GSM)
andisreadytoconnect.
Solidamber Themodem isconnectedtoa2Gnetworkandis abletosend
andreceivedata.
Blinkingblue Themodemhas detecteda3Gnetwork(UMTS,HSPA) andis
readytoconnect.

IfTRU-Installdoesnotstartautomatically,youcanstarttheinstallationprocessmanually.

desktop.
2. ClicktheTRU-Installdrive.
3. UndertheTRU-Installdrive,openthe Winfolderanddouble-clicktheSetup.exefile.Follow
theon-screenpromptstoinstallthesoftware.

Ifyoudo notseetheTelstraConnectionManagerwindow:
1. OpenFinder.
2. UnderDevices,double-clickTelstraConnectionManager.

WhendoIusetheextensioncableandclip?
Iftheorientationofyour computer’sUSBslotorthethicknessof
yourcomputeraresuchthatpressureisapplied tothe endorside of
themodem,you maydamagethe modemoryour computer.Insuch
cases,donotinsertthe modemdirectlyintoyourcomputer’sUSBslot.
UsetheUSBextensioncableand notebookcomputerclipinstead.

WhenshouldIuseanexternalantenna?
Useanexternalantennatoboost yoursignalin areasoflow signalstrength—outside
ofurbancentres,forexample,or whenyouareinornear astructurethatisblockingthe
signal.Ifyouexperiencedroppedconnectionsand ConnectionManagersignalstrength
indicatorshows oneortwobars(-100dBmorlower),you shouldconnecttheexternal
antenna.
