Quick Installation Guide
Introducing the USB SoundWave 7.1 Pro
The USB SoundWave 7.1 Pro is a portable sound card that
brings a home theater atmosphere to notebook or desktop
computers.

•Volume +, -: Increases or decreases the system
volume. This feature works in analog mode only.
•Headphone/Speaker Out: Connect headphones
or stereo speakers via mini-3.5mm stereo plug.
Doubles as an Optical S/PDIF pass-through when
connecting with the S/PDIF Optical Adapter.
•Volume Mute: Press this button to turn off the
system sound. Press the button again to turn on the
system sound, pause for several seconds between
button presses. This button works in analog mode
only.
•Microphone Mute: Press this button to turn off the
microphone jack. Press the button again to turn on
the microphone jack.
•Microphone Jack: Use this jack to connect MP3
players, CD players, iPods and other audio output
devices for playback or recording, connect a
microphone and turn your system into a P.A. or
Karaoke system. This jack works in analog mode
only.
•Power/Activity LED: The light will be on when the
system is powered up. The light will blink when
activityisdetected,however,thelightisnotaffected
by microphone jack inputs.
•Microphone LED: When the microphone jack is
muted, the light will turn on.
•USB Connector: Plugs into the system's USB port.

Software Installation
Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 will automatically detect
and installit'sbuilt-in driverforthe USB SoundWave 7.1 Pro
when connected. To get full function from the soundcard,
install Xear 3D software utility from the software CD.
Xear 3D Software
Included on the USB SoundWave 7.1 Pro software CD is the
Xear3D AudioConfigurationUtility,Mixer and Equalizer.
Install this utility to provide simulated 7.1 channel sound.
1. Insert the software CD. Autorun should start the
installation. If Autorun doesn't start, click Start,
thenRun. TypeX:\setup.exe,thenclickOK.(Replace
X: with the drive letter of your CD-ROM)
2. Click Next, Next, Next.
3. Click Finish to restart Windows.
To Verify Succesfull Installation
1. Right click My Computer, click Manage, then click
Device Manager.
2. Double click Sound, video and game controllers,
C-Media USB Sound Device should be displayed.

Xear 3D Software Utlity
Xear 3D quick start icon, located in the system tray by the
clock, installs automatically during installation. Simply
click on the quick start icon to open the audio setup utility.
Enable S/PDIF Output
1. Click on the quick start icon located in the taskbar
by the system clock.
2. From the Main Settings tab, click on the radial
button next to S/PDIF Output.
Uninstalling Xear 3D Software
1. Click Start.
2. Select Settings (skip for XP/Server 2003).
3. Click Control Panel, double click Add/Remove
Programs.
4. Select C-Media USB Sound, then click
Change/Remove or Add/Remove.
5. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the
uninstall, then restart your system.
Speaker Configuration
Windows 2000
1. From the main desktop, click Start, Settings,
Control Panel.
2. Double click Sounds and Multimedia, click Audio
tab.

3. Click Advanced under Sound Playback,thenclick
the Speakers tab.
4. Select the speaker type from the drop down list.
5. Click OK to save the settings.
Windows XP
1. From the main desktop, click Start, Control Panel.
2. Click Sounds and Audio Devices.
3. Select the Audio tab.
4. Click Advanced under Sound Playback, then click
the Speakers tab.
5. Select your speaker type from the drop down list.
6. Click OK to save the settings.
Windows Server 2003
Make sure to log in as Administrator or an account with
administrative privileges.
1. From the main desktop click Start, Control Panel.
2. Click Sounds and Audio Devices.
3. Check Enable Windows Audio, click OK, then
restart Windows.
4. When Windows resumes, repeat steps 1-2.
5. Select the Audio tab.
6. Click Advanced under Sound Playback, then click
the Speakers tab.
7. Select your speaker type from the drop down list.
8. Click OK to save the settings.

Step 1: Submit your RMA request.
Go to www.siig.com, click Support, then RMA to submit a
request to SIIG RMA. If the product is determined to be
defective, an RMA number willbe issued. SIIG RMA department can also be
reached at (510) 413-5333.
Step 2: After obtaining an RMA number, ship the product.
• Properly pack the product for shipping. All accessories that came with
the original package must be included.
• Clearly write yourRMAnumberon the topofthe returned package. SIIG
will refuse to accept any shipping package, and will not be responsible
foraproductreturnedwithoutanRMAnumberposted on the outside of
the shipping carton.
• You are responsible for the cost of shipping. Ship the product to the
