Quick Installation Guide
Introducing the USB SoundWave 7.1 Digital
The USB SoundWave 7.1 Digital is a portable sound card
that brings a home theater atmosphere to notebook or
desktop computers.

•Headphone: Connect to your headphones
•Line In: Connect to MP3 player/CD/DVD Player,
or other audio sources for playback*, mixing and/
or recording. *Playback through S/PDIF Out not
supported
•Front Speaker: Connect to front speakers (via
external amplifier)
•Surround Speaker: Connect to surround speakers
while in 4/6/8 channel modes (via external
amplifier)
•Center/Bass Speaker: Connect to center/bass
speakers while in 6/8 channel modes (via external
amplifier)

•S/PDIF IN: Connect to digital output of external
audio device via an Optical S/PDIF cable (cable not
included)
•S/PDIF OUT: Connect to digital input of external
audio device via an Optical S/PDIF cable (cable not
included). Does not support Line In playback
•USB Connector: Plugs into the system’s USB port

Software Installation
Windows 7, Vista, XP, and Server 2003 will automatically
install it's built-in driver for the USB SoundWave 7.1 Digital
when connected. To get the full feature from the USB
SoundWave 7.1 Digital, install the driver from the included
software CD using the directions below. Important: Plug
in the USB SoundWave 7.1 Digital and allow the Windows
driver to load before inserting the software CD.
Windows 7 (32-/64-bit)
1. PlugtheUSB SoundWave 7.1 Digital into an available
USB port.
2. Insert the software CD.
At the CD AutoPlay box: Click Open folder to view
files. Double click Setup.
If AutoPlay doesn't start: Click Start, in the Search
programs and files box, type D:\setup.exe, then
press Enter.(Change D: to match your CD/DVD-
ROM drive letter)
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation.
Windows Vista (32-/64-bit)
1. PlugtheUSB SoundWave 7.1 Digital into an available
USB port.

2. Insert the software CD.
At the CD AutoPlay box: Double click Setup.
If AutoPlay doesn't start: Click Start, in the Start
Search box, type D:\setup.exe, then press Enter.
(Change D: to match your CD/DVD-ROM drive
letter)
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation.
Windows XP (32-/64-bit) / Server 2003 (32-/64-bit)
1. Plugthe USB SoundWave 7.1 Digital into an available
USB port.
2. Insert the software CD. Click Start,thenRun. Type
D:\setup.exe, then click OK.(Change D: to match
your CD/DVD-ROM drive letter)
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation.
Windows Server 2008 (32-/64-bit)
1. Plugthe USB SoundWave 7.1 Digital into an available
USB port.
2. Insert the software CD.

To Verify Installation
1. Check Device Manager to verify installation.
ForWindows7: RightclickComputer,clickManage,
click Device Manager.
For Windows Vista:Right click Computer, click
Manage, click Continue, click Device Manager.
For Windows XP / 2003: Right click My Computer,
click Manage, click Device Manager.
For Windows Server 2008: Right click Computer,
click Manage,double click Diagnostics,clickDevice
Manager.
2. Double click Sound, video and game controllers.
WithUSBMulti-ChannelAudioDevicedriver:USB
Multi-Channel Audio Device will be displayed.
With Windows built-in driver: USB Audio Device
will be displayed.

USB Multi-Channel Audio Device Software
Utility
The USB Multi-Channel Audio Device quick start icon,
located in the taskbar by the clock, starts automatically
when Windows boots. Simply click on the quick start icon
to open it.
Enable/Disable Optical S/PDIF Output
The Optical S/PDIF Out is enabled by default.
1. Click on the USB Multi-Channel Audio Device
quick start icon.
2. From the Main Settings tab, click on the radial
button next to S/PDIF Output.
Speaker Configuration
Make sure to log in as Administrator or an account with
administrator privileges.
Windows 7
1. In the taskbar by the system clock, click Show
Hidden icons, then click the USB Multi-Channel
Audio Device icon.
2. Select Main Settings tab. Under Analog Output,
select your speaker type from the drop down box.
3. Click OK to save your changes.

Windows Vista / XP / Server 2003 & 2008
Make sure to log in as Administrator or an account with
administrator privileges.
1. Click the USB Multi-Channel Audio Device icon
located in the taskbar by the system clock.
2. Select Main Settings tab. Under Analog Output,
select your speaker type from the drop down box.
3. Click OK to save your changes.
Playback & Recording Configuration
Make sure to log in as Administrator or an account with
administrator privileges.
Windows 7
1. In the taskbar by the system clock, click Show
Hidden icons, then click the USB Multi-Channel
Audio Device icon.
2. Select Mixer tab. You can now adjust playback and
recording features.
3. Click OK to save your changes.
Windows Vista / XP / Server 2003 & 2008
1. Click the USB Multi-Channel Audio Device icon
located in the taskbar by the system clock.
2. Select Mixer tab. You can now adjust playback and
recording features.
3. Click OK to save your changes.

Uninstalling the USB SoundWave 7.1
Digital Software
Windows 7
1. Click Start, Control Panel, Programs.
2. Click Programs and Features.
3. Select USB Multi-Channel Audio Device, then
click Uninstall/Change.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete.
Windows Vista / Server 2008
1. Click Start, Control Panel.
2. Click Classic View, double click Programs and
Features.
3. Select USB Multi-Channel Audio Device, then
click Uninstall/Change.
Windows Vista: click Continue.
Windows Server 2008: continue to step #4
4. Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now and
click Finish.
Windows XP / Server 2003
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, double click Add/
Remove Programs.
2. Select USB Multi-Channel Audio Device, then
click either Change/Remove or Add/Remove.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete.
