• Check that the vent opening in the interior and
exterior brick work line up before commencing work.
• Remove the existing terracotta brick vent. The brick
vent can be chipped out as it will not be used again.
• Insert the Silenceair unit into the opening.
• Ensure the unit is inserted all the way into the
opening. The exterior face should be ush with or
slightly recessed behind the face of the exterior
brickwork.
• Ensure the unit has a slight fall to the outside to
assist with the draining of any wind driven water.
• Seal around all edges inside and out to ensure noise
does not enter the wall.
• Clean out the vent opening and make good.
• Check the opening is a minimum 240mm Wide x
150mm High x 240mm Deep to allow the Silenceair
unit to t.
• Insert the new exterior grille into position and set in
place.
• Paint the grille the desired colour.

• The Silenceair unit is completely hidden in the wall,
only the period exterior grille is visible.
• In some circumstances you may need to remove the
interior decorative grille to adequately clean out the
vent opening to allow the insertion of the Silenceair
unit.
• The decorative grille is usually made of plaster, so
it will be damaged during removal. Reproduction
period decorative grilles are available from humerous
suppliers.
• Fit the reproduction decorative vent cover into
position with cornice cement.
• Once installed, the Silenceair is totally hidden, only
the decorative vent cover is visible.
• Silenceair reserves the right to modify or reissue
