Silk’n Glide™ is a light-based
device for permanent hair
reduction designed for home-use.
1.1 Silk’n Glide™ device
description
The Silk’n Glide™ HAIR REMOVAL
DEVICE has a TREATMENT SURFACE, a
CONTROL PAD and a PULSE TRIGGER.
Before using Silk’n Glide™ for the first time, please read this User Manual in its entirety.
Pay particular attention to sections on device use procedures, device operation, and after-use procedures.
We recommend you re-familiarize yourself with this User Manual before each use of Silk’n Glide™.
Silk’n Glide™ is a powerful electrical device. As such, it should be used with special attention to safety.
Please read all warnings and safety precautions before use, and strictly follow them when using

3. Safety with Silk’n Glide™
Silk’n Glide™ may be used to remove unwanted body hair. Ideal body areas for Silk’n Glide™ use include the
underarms, bikini line, arms, legs, face, back, shoulders and chest.
With Silk’n Glide™ Safety Comes First.
HPL™ technology in Silk’n Glide™ - Superior safety with lower energy level:
Home Pulsed Light™ technology is able to achieve long-term hair removal results at a fraction of the energy
level used in other light-based hair removal equipment. The low energy used in Silk’n Glide™ reduces its
potential to cause harm or complications, and contributes to your overall safety.
Silk’n Glide™ protects your skin:
Light based hair removal is not suitable for naturally darker skin tones or tanned skin. Silk’n Glide™ comes
with a built-in SKIN COLOR SENSOR that is designed to measure the complexion of the applied surface
and enable application only on suitable skin complexions. This unique safety feature will not let you treat
where your skin is too dark or too tanned.
Furthermore, the 3cm² TREATMENT SURFACE through which pulses of light are delivered is recessed
inside the device. This enables Glide™ to protect your skin by avoiding direct contact between the
TREATMENT SURFACE and the skin.
Silk’n Glide™ protects your eyes:
Silk’n Glide™ has a built-in safety feature for eye protection. It has been designed so that a light pulse can not
be emitted when the TREATMENT SURFACE is facing open air. The safety feature enables treatment only
when the TREATMENT SURFACE is in contact with the tissue.
Silk’n Glide™ is intended for removal of unwanted hair. Silk’n Glide™ is also intended to eect long
term, or permanent hair reduction. Permanent hair reduction is defined as a long-term stable reduction
in the number of hairs re-growing after a treatment regime.

4. Contraindications
Silk’n Glide™ is not designed for everyone. Please read and consider the information in the following section before
use. For further information and personalized advice you may also visit www.silkn.com or your local Silk’n™ domain.
Hair removal by lasers or intense pulsed light sources can cause increased hair growth in some individuals.
Based upon currently available data, the highest risk groups for this response are females of Mediterranean,
Middle Eastern and South Asian heritage treated on the face and neck.

pulses will only be emitted on suitable

Do not use Silk’n Glide™
energy levels 2-5 on tanned
skin or after recent sun
exposure (including artificial
tanning machines).
Do not expose treated
areas to the sun.
Treating with Silk’n Glide™ energy
levels 2-5 before or after any sun ex-
posure can result in adverse eects
such as redness and skin discomfort.
Tanned skin particularly following sun
exposure, contains large quantities of
the pigment Melanin.
This applies to all skin types and com-
plexions, including those which don’t
seem to tan quickly. The presence of
large quantities of Melanin exposes
the skin to higher risk when using any
method of light based hair removal.
If you are using any energy level higher
than the lowest, avoid exposure to the
sun for 4 weeks before and 2 weeks
after your Silk’n Glide™ treatment!
Sun exposure includes unprotected
exposure to direct sunlight of over 15
minutes continuously, or unprotected
exposure to diused sunlight of over 1
hour continuously. To protect recently
treated skin when exposed to sunlight,
be sure to thoroughly apply sunscreen
SPF 30 or higher, for 2 weeks after
each hair removal session. Silk’n Glide’s
lowest energy level (1) is designed
especially for safe use even after sun
exposure. After sun exposure you
may continue using Silk’n Glide™, but
only at the lowest energy level.

facial hair, extra caution should

6. Avoid using Silk’n Glide™ if any of the
following applies:
History of kelodial scar formation.
Consult with your physician prior to
using Silk’n Glide™.
If you suer from epilepsy.
If you have a disease related to photosensitivity, such as
porphyria, polymorphic light eruption, solar urticaria, lupus, etc.
If you have a history of skin cancer or areas of potential skin
malignancies.
If you have received radiation therapy or chemotherapy
treatments within the past 3 months.
If you have any other condition which in your physician’s
opinion would make it unsafe for you to be treated.
If your skin was treated with a physician-prescribed drug within
the past 6 months, please consult with your physician.

7. Possible side effects using Silk’n Glide™
When used according to the instructions, side eects and complications associated with the use of Silk’n Glide™
are uncommon. However every cosmetic procedure, including those designed for home use, involves some
degree of risk. Therefore it is important that you understand and accept the risks and complications that can
occur with pulsed light hair removal systems designed for home use.

Minor Skin Discomfort –
Although home pulsed light hair removal is generally very well-tolerated, most users do feel
some mild discomfort during use, usually described as being a mild stinging sensation on
the treated skin areas. The stinging sensation usually lasts during the time of the application
itself or for a few minutes thereafter. Anything beyond this minor discomfort is abnormal
and means that either you should not continue to use Silk’n Glide™ because you are
unable to tolerate the hair removal application, or that the energy level setting is too high.

Skin Redness –
Your skin may become red right after using Silk’n Glide™ or within 24 hours of using Silk’n
Glide™. Redness generally clears up within 24 hours. See your doctor if redness does not go
away within 2 to 3 days.

Increased Sensitivity to Skin –
The skin of the treated area is more sensitive so you may encounter dryness or flaking of the skin.

Pigment Changes –
Silk’n Glide™ targets the hair shaft, in particular the pigmented cells in the hair follicle and
the hair follicle itself. Nevertheless there is risk of temporary hyperpigmentation (increased
pigment or brown discoloration) or hypopigmentation (whitening) to the surrounding skin.
This risk of changes in skin pigmentation is higher for people with darker skin tones. Usually
discoloration or changes to skin pigment are temporary and permanent hyperpigmentation
or hypopigmentation rarely occur.

Excessive Redness and Swelling –
In rare cases treated skin may become very red and swollen. This is more common in
sensitive areas of the body. The redness and swelling should subside within 2 to 7 days and
should be treated with frequent applications of ice. Gentle cleansing is OK, but one should
avoid exposure to sun.

A typical full hair growth cycle may take 18-24 months. During this time multiple Glide™ sessions may be
required in order to achieve permanent hair removal.
The eciency of hair removal varies from person to person according to body area, hair color, and how
Silk’n Glide™ is used.
Typical Silk’n Glide™ hair removal plan during a full hair growth cycle:
Treatments 1-4 – plan two weeks apart
Treatments 5-7 – plan four weeks apart
Treatments 8 + – treat as needed, until desired results are achieved.
1. Individual response depends on hair type as well as biological factors that may aect hair growth patterns. Some users may respond quicker or slower
than the average number of treatments.
2. One cannot expect permanent hair removal in a single or even double treatment sessions. The duration of the resting period for hair follicles also
depends on the body area.

9. Get Started!
1. Remove Silk’n Glide™ HAIR REMOVAL DEVICE and other components from box.
2. Plug the ADAPTOR cord into the Silk’n Glide™ HAIR REMOVAL DEVICE socket.
3. Plug the ADAPTOR into an electrical outlet. All indicator lights in the CONTROL PAD will turn on and o
repeatedly in a circular motion.
Your Silk’n Glide™ is now ready to start.
Choose areas to treat that have not had recent exposure to the sun.
Treat with Silk’n Glide™ safely and properly!
4. The skin of the treatment areas should be shaved, clean, dry and free of any powders, antiperspirants or
deodorants. Do not wax, pluck or tweeze the hair out. Shaving is an important step to get the results you want!
Best results will be reached when you shave 3 days prior to the treatment or when the hair is 1-2 mm - 3/32 inch.
5. Press the CENTRAL BUTTON. The device will turn on, the Energy Level 1 INDICATOR LIGHT will turn on
and a fan sound will start.
6. Approximately 1 second after pressing the CENTRAL BUTTON, the READY/SKIN TONE WARNING
INDICATOR LIGHT will turn on. The device is then ready for you to trigger the first pulse at the lowest
energy level.
7. If this is your first treatment - Choose the energy level. Glide™ oers 5 levels of energy from 1 (the lowest) to
5 (the highest). To choose the right energy level for your first treatment, test each treatment area separately:
Place the TREATMENT SURFACE on the skin and press the trigger to deliver one pulse. If you did
not experience abnormal discomfort press the CENTRAL BUTTON again. This will increase the
energy level. Deliver one pulse on a dierent spot at energy level 2.
Continue testing at increased energy levels until you have reached the highest level that you feel
comfortable with. If within one hour you experience no adverse eects, you can start your full
treatment at that energy level.
Repeat this test for each body part you intend to treat.
8. Set the energy level. To set an energy level higher or lower, press the CENTRAL BUTTON repeatedly to
increase the energy level from 1 to 5 and from 5 directly back to 1, until the desired energy level is set.
The ENERGY LEVEL INDICATOR LIGHTS will indicate the energy level setting. (For details see “Energy
Level” chapter inside this user manual).

9. Apply the TREATMENT SURFACE to the skin, making sure the skin is spread evenly and smoothly. As
soon as the TREATMENT SURFACE is in full contact with the skin, the READY/SKIN TONE WARNING
INDICATOR LIGHT will start blinking slowly.
10. Press the PULSE TRIGGER. The device will first determine the color of your skin. If the color of the skin is
light enough for safe application, the device will flash a pulse of light onto your skin, and the READY/SKIN
TONE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT will turn o. You will see a bright flash of light and simultaneously
hear a subtle pop sound, which is a normal noise for the device. You will feel a mild sensation of warmth
and tingling.
Silk’n Glide™ will immediately recharge for the next pulse.
After a few seconds (depending on the set energy level) the READY/SKIN TONE WARNING
INDICATOR LIGHT will turn on again, and start blinking slowly when attached again to the skin.
11. Remove the TREATMENT SURFACE from the treated area of skin.
12. Choose a method of application for your session. Glide™ can be applied in two ways: “Pulsing” and
“Gliding” (for more details see application methods frame below).
For the PULSING method, follow steps 9-11 above on another spot repeatedly until the entire area
is fully covered.
For the GLIDING method, hold the PULSE TRIGGER down continuously, and slide the device
smoothly along the treated area.
If your skin blisters or burns, STOP USE IMMEDIATELY!
Energy Level
Energy level determines the intensity of the Silk’n Glide™ light pulse delivered to your skin. As energy
level increases, so does hair removal results as well as the risk of possible side eects and complications.
Glide™ oers 5 levels of energy from 1 (the lowest) to 5 (the highest), represented by 5 ENERGY
LEVEL INDICATOR LIGHTS.
The energy level set for the treatments determines the number of pulses the device can produce.
Whenever Silk’n Glide™ is turned on its energy level will automatically be reset to the lowest energy
level. Only one ENERGY LEVEL INDICATOR LIGHT will be on. To set the energy level, press the
CENTRAL BUTTON repeatedly to increase the energy level from 1 to 5 and from 5 directly back to 1 .
Methods of application
PULSING
PULSING is the best technique for working with higher energy levels as it enables better control of skin
coverage. When pulsing, Glide™ pulses should be administered in rows, starting at one end of each row

The Skin Color Sensor
Light-based hair removal on darker skin tones can result in adverse eects such as burns, blisters, and
skin color changes (hyper- or hypo-pigmentation).
To prevent such misuse, a unique SKIN COLOR SENSOR in Silk’n Glide™ measures the treated skin
complexion at the beginning of each session and occasionally during the session. If the SKIN COLOR
SENSOR detects a skin tone that is too dark for Silk’n Glide™ application, the device will automatically
stop emitting pulses.
If you see no light pulse and the READY/SKIN TONE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT is rapidly
blinking, this is an indication that your skin tone, measured by the SKIN COLOR SENSOR, is too dark
for safe application. Try using the device on a dierent body part or contact Silk’n™ support.
GLIDING
GLIDING is the best way to work within the low energy levels and achieve a fast and more ecient session.
When Gliding, hold the PULSE TRIGGER down continuously, and using a slow, sliding motion while keeping
contact with the skin, smoothly move the device along the treated area. In the lower energy levels the
device takes only 1-1.5 seconds to recharge between pulses and provides a nonstop sequence of flashes.
If your skin blisters or burns, STOP USE IMMEDIATELY!
Try to avoid overlapping pulses!
Do not treat the same area of skin more than once per hair removal session!
Treating the same area of skin more than once per session increases the likelihood of
adverse eects.
and progressing sequentially towards the other end helping you avoid treating the same area more than
once or overlapping skin areas. When pulsing, the Silk’n Glide™ TREATMENT SURFACE is designed
to create temporary pressure marks on the treated area. In every repositioning of the TREATMENT
SURFACE use these pressure marks to guide you for proper positioning of the next pulse, avoiding both
gaps and overlaps between pulses.

9.2.After treating with Silk’n Glide™
1. When Glide™ session has been completed turn Glide™ o by giving the CENTRAL BUTTON an extended
press. Be sure to remember the last energy level setting you used, as it will not be restored when turning
Glide™ on again.
2. Unplug the ADAPTOR cord from the electrical outlet.
3. After each hair removal session it is recommended that you clean your Silk’n Glide™ device, especially the
TREATMENT SURFACE (See: “Cleaning Silk’n Glide™”).
4. After cleaning, it is recommended to store your Silk’n Glide™ device in its original box, and keep it away
from water.
9.1.What to Expect when treating with Silk’n Glide™?
For many people, using Silk’n Glide™ may be their first experience with a light-based device designed for
home use. Silk’n Glide™ is simple to use, and hair removal sessions go by quickly. During a Silk’n Glide™
session it is normal to experience and feel:
A Fan Noise – The cooling fan in Silk’n Glide™ makes noise similar to a hairdryer. This is normal.
A Pop Sound with Each Pulse – When a pulse of HPL™ light is activated, it is normal to hear a subtle pop
sound simultaneously with the flash of light.
A Sensation of Warmth and Tingling – During each pulse of light it is normal to feel a mild sensation of
warmth and tingling from the light energy.
Some Mild Red or Pink Color – During and just after your Silk’n Glide™ session it is not uncommon to
see some very mild, pink-like color of the skin. This is usually most noticeable around the hairs themselves.
However if you see full redness of the skin, blistering or burns stop use of Silk’n Glide™ immediately.
Skin care following hair removal session
Do not expose areas of skin treated in energy levels 2-5 to the sun. Be sure to carefully
protect the treated skin with sunscreen, throughout the hair removal period and for at
least 2 weeks following the last Silk’n Glide™ session.
10. Maintenance of Silk’n Glide™
10.1. Cleaning Silk’n Glide™
After each hair removal session, it is recommended to clean your Silk’n Glide™ device, and especially the
TREATMENT SURFACE.
1. Unplug Silk’n Glide™ before cleaning.
2. Use a dry, clean cloth and a specially formulated cleaning detergent for electronic equipment to gently wipe
Silk’n Glide™ surface, and especially the TREATMENT SURFACE.
Never immerse Silk’n Glide™ or any of its parts in water!

Do not attempt to open or repair your Silk’n Glide™ device. Only authorized
Silk’n™ repair centers are permitted to perform repairs.
11. Troubleshooting
11.1.“My Silk’n Glide™ does not start.”
Make sure the ADAPTOR is properly connected to the Glide™ device.
Make sure the ADAPTOR is plugged into an electrical outlet on the wall.
11.2.“A light pulse is not emitted when I press the PULSETRIGGER”
Make sure that the READY/SKIN TONE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT is blinking slowly to ensure you
have good contact with the skin and that the TREATMENT SURFACE is evenly and firmly pressed to the skin.
For your safety, the PULSE TRIGGER will activate a pulse only if the TREATMENT SURFACE is firmly pressed
against the skin.
Check the SKIN TONE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT. If it blinks rapidly, this is an indication that your
skin tone, measured by the SKIN COLOR SENSOR, is too dark for safe application. Try using the device on
a dierent body part or contact Silk’n™ support.

If these problems persist, contact your local Silk’n™ Customer Service Center.
Check if all lights are blinking together in a circle. If so, unplug the device from its power source. The device
has reached its End of Life stage. This device is to be orderly disposed of. Deliver your old equipment to the
nearest electronic waste collection point for safe and ecient disposal.
Opening Silk’n Glide™ may expose you to dangerous electrical components and to pulsed light energy, either
of which may cause serious bodily damage and/or permanent eye injury.
Trying to open Silk’n Glide™ may also damage the device and will void your warranty.

Avant d’utiliser le Silk’n Glide™ pour la première fois, veuillez lire ce manuel d’utilisation dans

3. La sécurité avec le Silk’n Glide™
Le Silk’n Glide™ est un appareil d’épilation qui sert à éliminer les poils indésirables du corps. Les régions
de traitement par le Silk’n Glide™ couvrent les aisselles, le maillot, les bras, les jambes, le visage, le dos, les
épaules et le torse.
La sécurité est prioritaire avec le Silk’n Glide™
La technologie HPL™ ore un maximum de sécurité avec un niveau minimum d’énergie:
L’épilation par la technologie Home Pulsed Light™ permet d’obtenir des résultats permanents avec une
intensité de puissance moindre comparée à d’autres méthodes de photoépilation. La faible énergie utilisée
par Silk’n Glide™ réduit les probabilités de blessures ou de complications et contribue à votre sécurité
générale.
Le Silk’n Glide™ est conçu avec un dispositif de protection:
L’appareil d’épilation Silk’n Glide™ de Silk’n ne convient pas aux personnes dont la peau est naturellement
foncée ou bronzée. L’appareil est muni d’un dispositif de sécurité, un CAPTEUR qui vérifie la pigmentation
de la peau traitée et détecte celle qu’il juge compatible. Ce procédé exclusif de sécurité ne vous permettra
pas de traiter les endroits où la peau est trop foncée ou trop bronzée. En outre, la SURFACE DE
TRAITEMENT de 3cm² au travers de laquelle les impulsions de lumière sont délivrées est encastrée à
l’intérieur du dispositif. Ceci permet au dispositif Glide™ de protéger votre peau en évitant le contact direct
de celle-ci avec la SURFACE DE TRAITEMENT.
Le Silk’n Glide™ possède un dispositif de protection pour les yeux:
Silk’n Glide™ possède une fonction de sécurité intégrée pour la protection des yeux. Elle a été conçue de
sorte que la lumière pulsée ne peut être émise lorsque la SURFACE DE TRAITEMENT est face au vide. La
fonction de sécurité n’active le traitement que lorsque la SURFACE DE TRAITEMENT est en contact avec
la peau.
Le Silk’n Glide™ est conçu pour éliminer les poils indésirables. Le Silk’n Glide™ est aussi conçu
pour réduire la pilosité à long terme ou définitivement. Réduire la pilosité définitivement signifie une
réduction stable à long terme dans le nombre de poils repoussant après un cycle de traitement.
